Chapter 87: Far more than that.

"I know that someone is after my life, which I’m very concerned about right now," Raziah didn’t know whether replying this way would suffice the question. She was trying to make it look like she was more concerned about her welfare than that of the whole supernatural world. What exactly does she know about the supernatural world? Almost nothing. And her dang husband nor anyone around isn’t telling her a thing.

Except King Eleazar himself, and that’s because he’s quite a talker and explains vastly.

"Did you find anything else after the brainwash was undone?" She asked.

"Just vague memories about the culprits past. Nothing important, or I would have told you by now,"

"Thank you for letting me know. I’ll keep a lookout all the time," She bowed at him, then stood up to leave the garden. Even though they were under the shade of a tree, rays of sunlight were still making their way through the spaces between the leaves and falling upon them, and she didn’t want to inconvenience him with that.

"Have you ever taken off the wristband?" Eleazar asked before she could take her first step.

Raziah took a glance at the most important asset she had right now. An article of clothing that is constantly helping her to control her emotions...and even the unseen, "Why do you ask?" She retorted.

"It’s old. I don’t think any woman would value something old except if it’s very significant to her, especially a princess who could have anything she wanted. If you had a love for wristbands, you can always get a new one to replace it... but I’ve seen you with the same one for as long as I’ve known you." King Eleazar also stood up to his feet and stared ahead into the distance.

"I don’t take it off. For any reason." She replied, rubbing it softly again. It always reminded her of who she truly was, and gave her reasons not to ever stray from her true goal. When the King moved forward and stepped into the flower garden, she stared silently as he plucked out a few growing tulips and cut out the Sandy roots. He arranged them properly to them look like a beautiful bouquet, then walked over to her.

"Here you go," He extended the yellow flower at her.

"Bribe to look after your daughter?" She arched a brow in question.

"Worse. Bribe to learn how to be happy. Tulips mean confidence and happiness. You’re already confident enough, but you are the saddest person I’ve ever met," He gestured at her to take the flowers from him, and she only stared down at them with no expression in her cold eyes, "Have it, Princess Raziah."

"I’m not sad," She took the flowers from him. Another light wind blew by, dancing with their attires and hair. Raziah stared at the flowers again for a second, before moving up to meet his brown eyes, "It’s just who I am,".

Raziah was on her way back to her chambers. Now she found herself looking for a distraction not to go back there even though he had made her promise to be there as soon as possible. She would probably see Maria first, then Gwenore second, Uariel, she would even like to Visit the Royal Library before she...

Her stomach growled loudly, and she quickly clutched it and looked around to see if anyone had seen or heard her. There wasn’t a soul close to her, and just then another growl rumbled from her stomach, and she bit her lips again. Her meal was gonna be served nowhere but her chambers, and she had just realized how hungry she is right now. She can’t head over to the kitchen and ask for her meal to be served elsewhere because she knew by now it would already be waiting for her in her room, also, she can’t risk anyone hearing the complaints of her belly.

"My Princess!!" A familiar voice called out, and Raziah turned around to see Maria approaching her. She was actually running down the small corridor, her arms wide open with tears already leaving her eyes.

Maria embraced her tightly, sobbing against her shoulders, "Caius!! What happened to Caius last night?!"

Raziah gently patted her back, not knowing what to say.

"What about you? Are you alright?" Raziah asked when she pulled back from her.

Maria nodded in a murmur, wiping the tears away, "How could they do that to Caius?!" She cried out again.

"I thought we were always supposed to whisper," Raziah almost rolled her eyes at the woman who couldn’t stop crying. Her eyes were already puffy, and her face was swollen with dried tears. Did she dry for the entire night, or started this morning?

"You’re planning to stay with me, right?" Raziah inquired just to sure Maria had no plans to leave.

"I found my home again. I’m not going anywhere else." Maria replied with a smile, "Who gave you flowers by the way? You picked them up?" Maria was just noticing the flowers now that her vision was getting clearer because she didn’t know the Princess was the type that adorned herself with such things.

"Don’t mind the flowers for now. Good thing you’re here. I have an important assignment for you," Raziah set her lips into a thin line, and grabbed Maria by the shoulders. Her hands were trembling softly as she let the desperation show in her eyes, "You need to head over to my chambers and retrieve my breakfast back here. I’m so hungry!" She shook Maria a little.

"Y...your chambers? But...it’s yours! Is there a reason you can’t eat there?" Maria asked.

"His Majesty is waiting for my return. I can’t...face him right now. I already told him you were gonna be the one helping me. All you need to do is walk in there, let him know that I’m with Princess Gwen at the moment, and I asked you to bring my breakfast to me there, ok?"

Maria looked like she had just been strangled by a bear, "If you can’t face him, what makes you think I can, my Princess?" She was terrified to her toes.

"Don’t worry. You won’t be spending more than a minute with him. Just walk in there, tell him you came for the food and push it out of the room and you’re done." Raziah’s stomach grumbled loudly, and she threw her head back in frustration. Damn it!

"She won’t be spending more than a minute with me," That familiar deep tone rang across the corridor, and Raziah just felt like crawling under a rock. Maria was staring at the floor like a statue, while the Princess let go of her shoulders and let her hands fall, "But..." She felt his massive presence behind her, right before his fingers intertwined with hers and he pulled her with him, "You are surely spending far more than that with me."
