Why flowers?!
Aletta’s nose was running, but she had plucked them close with her fingers. She couldn’t go back to the room because the source of her sickness was all over the place, but she couldn’t keep wandering around the palace grounds forever. Right now, there was no one to help her throw them out so she would have to take a deep breath and do it herself.
She stood in front of her room and took in another deep breath before plucking her nose. With that, she turned the knub and let herself into the room that now resembled a flower shop. Everywhere apart from the bed itself had been filled with bouquets of real flowers, and the pollen was a bad thing for her. Some arrived in vases, some wrapped properly and many others still growing from their earth pot. The smell was killing her.
All this had started in the middle of the night. She had woken up to the smell, only to find out that someone had decided to murder her by sending in multiple flowers to choke her to death. The letter sitting beside her on the bed notified her that Zoan had sent the flowers as a good morning greeting, and she had been so close to shredding the paper into pieces.
Now it was morning, and she hadn’t slept well the whole night because she had inhaled so much pollen. Apart from her room looking like an authentic flower stop now, she now has an unwanted guest inside her room, lying lazily on the bed with a crooked smile on his lips. He looked very pleased with himself after what he had done to her.
Aletta pretended she didn’t even see him and opened the windows. She no longer cared whether he was a Vampire and whether the sunlight that streamed in affected him or not! Immediately, she picked up all the flowers close to her and began tossing them out aggressively, shoving them through the thin bars of the window with so much frustration in her eyes.
"You don’t like flowers?" She felt his presence behind her, grabbing her arm before she could toss out another one. She had been plucking her nose with her fingers for a while now, and the urge to breathe again was slowly building up. Plus, there were still so many flowers in the room and the air was thick with pollen scent.
"You sure did your research on me before you decided flowers were the best way to keep me up all night!" The normally terrified Aletta was gone, and now she was just wishing there was water nearby so she could grab his head and choke him inside it for the next eight hours! Her voice came out high-pitched and whiny due to the blockage of her nose, making her sound like a little critter.
"You...are allergic to flowers?" He inquired, while she tried to pull her hands away from his tight grip.
"Next time you wanna court someone, try to make some inquiries about her before you do something as an attempt to murder her!" Aletta’s eyes were getting red. She wasn’t good with holding her breath for long and needed to leave the room immediately.
"But you’re not from around here...How am I supposed to know what you like, Coal?" Why did he have to lean in when he said that?
"I need to go." She choked out and made to walk away when he pulled her back to him. Aletta let out a tortured groan, her body speedily giving up on her. She was this close to taking another deep breath, and that was not something she could risk. She was highly allergic to pollen, and if she keeps on inhaling it, reactions would occur in her body and it could either be mild, or very bad.
But he didn’t do what she had expected. She thought it’s always pleased him to see her in discomfort because of that wicked smile he always gives her, but what he had just done was... something new to her. He had peeled her hands away from the nose, and now had her face pressing softly against his neck, as if he was telling her to breathe him in instead.
It had her stunned for a few seconds, and she recalled just how powerful his presence was. His scent was also all over the place now. He’s always had this masculine somewhat smoke-like smell that followed him everywhere. It wasn’t just the ordinary one that would have you coughing in less than a minute, but a special type that was hypnotizing, and had this basking and refreshing smell.
Unable to take it anymore, she released her lungs and took in a deep breath, filling her lungs with his scent. Aletta’s body grew dull, and she found herself gripping handfuls of his shirt to keep her standing. Dear lord...his scent was more than hypnotizing. It was like a seductive, heavenly, and unbelievably good smell that was making her crave more with every second.
It was like the flowers didn’t exist anymore in the room, and it was just his scent everywhere, embracing her closely.
"Don’t get turned on," That rude voice of his whispered against her hair, and she was already pulling away from him as if she had been burnt. Aletta wanted to burst out into laughter right there on his face and make him eat those words but her plan was short-lived because he had already grabbed the back of her neck, and pushed her back to the crook of his neck again, leaving her blinking in shock once again.
"Let go of me," She managed to implore a good amount of self-control, reducing the way she breathed in his neck.
"Oh, that’s right." He responded, but those words didn’t sound like a reply to her statement. It felt like the start of a new conversation he just recalled, and she just knew something she wouldn’t want to ever know was about to leave his lips, "I haven’t told you my rules about this relationship now, have I?"
