Chapter 90: Three Rules.

"What rules?" Etta could only stay still while his fingers snaked around her neck completely. He was significantly taller than her, but because he had been leaning over this whole time, her face had been able to reach his neck. Unfortunately, now the man was pulling back to his full length, and her face was sliding down further from his neck.

With his naked, smooth, and hard skin still on her face, it took her a few more seconds to realize that he was now shirtless and her forehead was touching the area just above his left peck. When did he take off his shirt?!

"The ones guiding this fake relationship, Coal." He replied, and she could feel his hands crawling their way higher up the back of her head. She was still putting on an item of clothing that had a cap attached to the back that covered her head as always, and she didn’t want him pulling it down. Subconsciously, her instincts kicked in sharply and she grabbed his arm before it climbed up any further.

"I have only three rules..." He drawled and she glanced up at him and saw another smile hanging from his lips and her heart skipped a beat. From that angle, he looked very attractive to her. Staring up at him had her noticing just how well-shaped his lips were, and the sharpness of the jaw was something she felt like tracing. His white eyelashes were striking and averagely long, making the whole of his eye and the shape of it stand out even more. His nose was just perfect and sharp too, the nostrils each almost forming heart-shaped openings. His red lips were moving, and it felt as of he was saying something

"Coal!!" He suddenly barked at her, making her flinch back. She looked flustered, knowing he must have caught her checking him out. Didn’t she warn herself to stop harboring useless feelings for this man? His eyes narrowed softly, "Did you hear all that I just said?"

It was at that moment she felt something wet rolling down her lips, and she quickly turned away from him to wipe off the embarrassing drool.

"No, you didn’t." He chuckled dryly, "I know I’m extremely good-looking Coal, but you have to..."

Etta’s eyes twisted in annoyance, and she was already pushing against his chest, taking a few steps back from his body. She would have taken more away, but her limit was marked when her back bumped into the wall behind her, "That’s not what it was. I..." The smell of pollen wafted into her nose, and she quickly squeezed back herself into the safety of his embrace.

"You hugged me on your own Accord," Zoan said, which had her blinking, "Don’t you regret what happens next." His tone sounded so obscurely enigmatic, and she heard a low him of warning along with those words. She didn’t really get the message, but she knew she shouldn’t stay like this with him for long.

Yet...she couldn’t stop herself from asking.

"What happens...then?"

Zoan didn’t move. It didn’t even seem like he was breathing anymore, and she felt like a line had been placed between them and she was crossing the line. As she wondered what she had done wrong by breathing him in once again, it finally dawned on her that she wasn’t just pressing her nose against his chest... but she had also wrapped her hands around his waist like she was holding onto him for dear life.

Clearing her throat shakily, she disengaged her hands from his and pulled back her entire body from his... leaving only her face on his chest. She felt too unstable to look at his face again, and just let the silence keep settling in inside the room, getting heavier and heavier by the moment.

"There are only three rules you have to follow," He began curtly, shattering the silence, "In public, we would behave like true lovers and when we are alone, we can be who we want to be with each other. Two, you’ll always warm my sleeping space every night before I retire to bed, and when I say ’ warm ’, I mean literally, understand?"

Good thing he cleared that up or else it would have been a problem for her. But then, it was strange. Why would he need a human warmer? He’s never asked her to do this even when they traveled together.

"Lastly, You make sure you bring my downfall, and let me see just how you will manage that," He added, and she shivered slightly as she regarded the slight chance in the heavy aura that always surrounded him. There was this sinister and eerie feeling around the both of them, mostly coming from him.

Aletta was genuinely confused though. Acting like lovers was mildly understandable but the last two rules, especially the one he just said left her dumbfounded. In what way was she supposed to bring his Downfall? And it’s a rule? Does he mean she has to find a way to end him or something? Thoughts scrambled back and forth inside her head, but she couldn’t get a good answer that satisfied her questions.

"What does that mean?" She asked.

"You should know...it’s exactly as I said it," He responded tightly, and when he tipped her chin up to look at him, she knew he wasn’t done just yet, "And don’t you dare break any of these rules, or..."

"I won’t!" She raised her hands in surrender. She didn’t want to know the consequences of not following those absurd rules that made no sense to her. Maybe as she goes on, she would come up with a way to ’ bring his Downfall’.

"That would be all,"

"Yes, you can leave now will I get rid of the rest of the flowers." She uttered.

"Where did you learn how to talk back at me?"

"I had to develop the habit," She scrunched up her nose at him, eyeing him when he gently pushed her head away from his chest. She was outright about to complain that she was still allergic to the pollen when she breathed in almost fresh air. The pollen in the air was almost home, which had her glancing behind him... only for her to be stricken with deep fear and panic.

It wasn’t just the flowers...what the hell did he do to the entire room while she wasn’t looking?!
