Chapter 44 His Temptation
Li Yansheng didn't bother with her. He supported the center console with one hand and turned sideways to unfasten Lin Shutang's seat belt.
The latter lowered her head, wondering if Li Yansheng would force her to roll out of the car, when she suddenly realized she was surrounded. The man leaned forward, his head close to her cheek, and he half-hugged her between the seats, their chests almost touching.
Lin Shutang clearly felt her heartbeat becoming more intense, so intense that she was worried that the other person could hear her heartbeat. She unconsciously leaned back to reduce the space she occupied as much as possible.
The man in front of her seemed oblivious to the fact that they were getting too close, continuing to move closer, with no intention of moving away. Finally, a uniquely masculine aura erupted, hitting Lin Shutang's collarbone.
Lin Shutang was wearing a loose-fitting, V-neck dress today. Li Yansheng's breath swept over her, and she felt as if she had been stripped naked. The air flowed down her chest, unimpeded, and finally dissipated in her lower abdomen. Lin Shutang flinched, holding her breath and not daring to move.
Her previous words had been assertive, as if she dared to love and hate. Subconsciously, she was only treating Li Yansheng as a supporter to cling to, an object of seduction. Just because she did something didn't mean she was truly willing to do it. When he suddenly approached her, she subconsciously resisted.
"Click." The seat belt buckle was unfastened. The crisp sound broke the stagnant atmosphere, and Lin Shutang's clenched hands loosened.
Li Yansheng glanced at the girl in his arms out of the corner of his eye and did not miss the change in her expression at that moment.
He paused in pulling away. "I'm scared."
The content of the inquiry was questioned in a tone of unhesitating determination.
Almost instantly, Lin Shutang realized that he wasn't unaware that the distance was too close, but was deliberately testing her. The passenger seatbelt was on the center console, and if he was just helping her unbuckle it, there was no need to get so close.
Thinking this through, and recalling everything she had done before, Lin Shutang felt it was ridiculous. At his age, and in such a position, he must have seen many temptations. She thought her thoughts, which she had concealed well, were perhaps just a joke in front of him, not even a means.
Lin Shutang lowered his head and said nothing more. The car was silent for a long time.
After a moment, Li Yansheng spoke: "Go up!"
His gentle tone was as plain as boiled water. He only said this short sentence without any extra words.
Lin Shutang opened the door and got out of the car, clutching his bag. He said, as he had done several times before, "Thank you for taking me back. The road is difficult to watch late at night, so drive carefully."
She thought, putting all of this aside, Li Yansheng was truly a wonderful person. Even until this moment, he had preserved her dignity and not exposed her ulterior motives.
When going up the stairs, the high beam kept shining on the road in front of him. Lin Shutang paused for a moment, but in the end he did not dare to look back at the person behind him.
Inside the car, Li Yansheng stared ahead. Only after he saw the slender figure disappear into the corridor, enveloped in the light, did he open the door and get out. He leaned against the hood and lit a cigarette. Some things, if left undecided, would only hurt both parties.
He put one hand in his trouser pocket, tapping his cigarette from time to time. Looking up, he was greeted by the warm yellow light. A vague figure could be seen in the curtains, seemingly struggling with something, standing there quietly for a long time without leaving.
Li Yansheng watched as an indescribable emotion suddenly arose in his chest, and his heart felt unprecedentedly calm.
