Chapter 81 Follow Your Heart

Chapter 81 Follow Your Heart

Li Yansheng went upstairs and opened the door. The lights were off in the room, and he could only see the light from the computer screen shining on the girl's face, making it look a little smaller than usual. When he turned on the light, the girl on the bed felt a little uncomfortable and raised her hand to cover her face.

"Why don't you turn on the light?"

Lin Shutang glanced at the time and realized it was already so late. She closed the computer and rubbed her sore eyes: "You're back."

Her voice was a little hoarse because she hadn't spoken for a long time.

Li Yansheng walked over, took the notebook from her hand and placed it on the bedside table: "Why aren't you eating?"

"I forgot."

Li Yansheng raised his hand to smooth her hair and asked, "Are you hungry?"

The voice was gentle and there was no anger in it.

"A little." Lin Shutang got up from under the quilt and stood in front of him with his feet on the floor: "Have you eaten?"

At this time, her eyes were bright and she looked like a child who was ignorant of the world.

Li Yansheng glanced at her round toes stepping on the floor, raised his hand to pick her up and put her on the bed, then walked to the end of the bed, picked up the pair of light pink slippers and put them in front of her.

When he did these things, it looked too natural. Having a company boss do this to him, Lin Shutang blushed slightly as he put his feet into his slippers.

She stood up and straightened her clothes: "Let's go."

Aunt Lu kept the food warm, so it wasn't cold yet.

Li Yansheng must have eaten out, as he barely touched his chopsticks. While Lin Shutang was eating, he leaned against a chair next to her and smoked. It was rare that he didn't look at any documents or make any phone calls, just quietly looking at her.

Lin Shutang felt a little embarrassed being watched while eating, so he casually started a conversation, "Do you come back so late every day?"

Li Yansheng: "It depends on the situation."

He tapped the end of his cigarette into the ashtray beside him and said, "I've run into a problem."

Lin Shutang: "Yeah. I encountered a small problem with my graduation thesis."

Li Yansheng raised an eyebrow. If it was really just a minor problem, she wouldn't have locked herself in her room all day.

As if a sudden thought occurred to him, he asked, "Why did you choose this major?"

Most people choose philosophy when applying for university after the college entrance exam because they have a misunderstanding of philosophy. Very few people continue their studies in the same field after completing their undergraduate studies.

"Well..." Lin Shutang paused and continued: "Because I like it."

Li Yansheng didn't say anything.

Seeing this, Lin Shutang said in a self-deprecating tone: "Do you think I'm childish?"

After all, liking something doesn't make you a living. Choosing a major with such a low employment rate just because you like it is indeed not wise.

But, at the beginning, when she was disappointed with the Feng family countless times and fell into self-doubt, it was the philosophical passages on the Internet that kept her going.

Li Yansheng was silent for a moment before speaking, "Everyone has something they love to do. Most people, for various reasons, give up halfway through, or even at the very beginning. The fact that you can follow your heart puts you above most people."

When he said these words, there was only seriousness in his eyes. He didn't come up with them to comfort Lin Shutang, but he felt that way from the bottom of his heart.

Lin Shutang lowered his head and ate the rice in the bowl without saying anything else.

Aunt Lu had been called by Li Yansheng to rest. After Lin Shutang finished his meal, Li Yansheng cleared the dishes.

She looked at the other person holding a half-smoked cigarette in his mouth, rolling up his sleeves and carrying the bowl into the kitchen, and her heart felt unprecedentedly calm.
