Chapter 64 Hagiwara and Matsuda's Good Intentions Backfire

Chapter 64 Hagiwara and Matsuda's Good Intentions Backfire

"Cough cough cough—" A series of coughs interrupted Shinichi Kudo's thoughts of self-reproach.

A chubby figure crawled out of the rubble, supporting his back, his white coat covered in mud and water.

Upon seeing that Professor Agasa was unharmed, Shinichi Kudo exclaimed excitedly, "Thank goodness, Professor, you're alive!"

"Professor, Professor! Run! Someone's trying to kill you!" Shinichi Kudo ran over and danced wildly around Professor Agasa.

"Whose child are you? Why are you all soaking wet!" Dr. Agasa didn't take the child's words to heart.

He kindly said, "Come in and take shelter from the rain."

"No, Doctor, listen to me! I'm Shinichi Kudo! Believe me! Run! The people from that organization are coming soon!"

Shinichi Kudo ran and jumped after Professor Agasa, trying to explain to him, but how could Professor Agasa believe a child's words?

"Little friend, this kind of prank isn't fun! Where are your mom and dad?"

"Ahhh—Doctor, you have to believe me! I really am Shinichi!"

Just as Shinichi Kudo was scratching his head in frustration, a familiar voice came from not far away.

"Hahaha, I've found you again, Shinichi Kudo!"

Shinichi Kudo's pupils constricted, alarm bells rang, something was wrong!

"Boom—"

Looking out, a man in a white shirt stood outside the collapsed wall. A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, illuminating the sinister grin on the man's face from top to bottom.

He was holding a black umbrella, as if he had come to a funeral!

"Achoo!" Shinichi Kudo came out of the inner room with a sneeze. He straightened his clothes and sighed, "I never thought I'd be able to wear my childhood clothes again."

"It fits perfectly!" Gu Ze commented as he took the tea from Professor Agasa.

Shinichi Kudo rolled his eyes at Gu Ze, recalling the scene from a dozen minutes ago when Gu Ze had made a fool of him, and he was furious.

"Don't be angry, don't be angry, I was just teasing you." Gu Ze crossed his legs and slowly argued, "Besides, I'm the one who brought you back, so in a way, I'm your savior!"

"Shinichi, calm down. Gu Ze meant well." Professor Agasa placed the teapot on the coffee table and sat down opposite Gu Ze.

After Gu Ze's explanation, Professor Agasa finally believed the fact that Shinichi Kudo had shrunk.

"Professor Agasa, you've known him for a long time!" Shinichi Kudo looked at Agasa, who was wearing a white coat, with a puzzled expression.

"Yes, Gu Ze has been here for a year now, but he often travels far away, so it's normal that you haven't seen him."

"I've only had a few meals with Professor Agasa." Gu Ze took a bite of a pastry on the coffee table, his eyes slightly narrowed, looking quite content.

"Are you really not deliberately avoiding me?" Shinichi Kudo asked suspiciously.

"No, no, I know what you're thinking. I'm not with those men in black." Gu Ze couldn't help but pat Shinichi Kudo's head.

"Don't pat my head!" Shinichi Kudo bared his teeth and ran away from Gu Ze.

Gu Zeqing cleared his throat and got to the point, "To be honest, I am also a detective, and the black-clad organization is the subject of my investigation."

"That's why I was able to be there and take you away in time."

"Since you've investigated for so long, you should know a lot of information, right? Who was the person who fed me the poison? Is there an antidote for this poison?" Shinichi Kudo stared at Gu Ze seriously.

Gu Ze met Shinichi Kudo's eyes. "I can't tell you the first question right now."

"There is no antidote for the poison you ingested yet, so you may have to remain in this state for a while."

To be precise, it's over 1000 episodes...

The young man in front of him was acting mysteriously, and Shinichi Kudo couldn't completely trust him, so his eyes darkened.

Dr. Agasa, who was standing to the side, listened to the conversation between the two and was somewhat anxious but unable to get a word in edgewise.

"The Black Organization is extremely large, with influence spanning multiple countries. They have members in the upper echelons of many nations," Gu Ze continued. "Do you understand what I mean?"

Before Shinichi could answer, Professor Agasa spoke first: "Shinichi, you're already dead in that organization. You can only change your identity, and you can't let them find out, and you definitely can't call the police!"

Shinichi Kudo lowered his head, as if deep in thought.

Gu Ze took a sip of tea and nodded. "What I said before wasn't an exaggeration. If the organization finds out you're still alive, the lives of those around you will be in danger."

Hearing the other person's reminder, Shinichi Kudo recalled his previous despair.

"You will pay for your recklessness." These words echoed in his ears, sending chills down his spine.

[Ding! Your words have prompted Shinichi Kudo to ponder. Although he thinks you have many secrets, you are also a good person.]

Gu Ze curled his lips into a smirk and said with a hint of wickedness, "You need a new identity and a new name now. Do you want to take my surname and become my distant cousin?"

"I won't take your surname, so give up!" Shinichi Kudo refused.

"Then you can take one yourself."

With a quick glance, Shinichi Kudo uttered the name that was destined for him, "Edogawa Conan, let's call him Edogawa Conan!"

"In that case, I can help you forge an identity that will be exactly the same as the real one."

Gu Ze recalled how Shinichi Kudo faced difficulties traveling abroad due to his lack of a legitimate identity in the story.

He's being incredibly kind by forging one for someone; Heaven probably won't mind.

"Forgery? Huh?" Shinichi Kudo, no, I should say Conan, his eyes turned into beady eyes. "This... isn't that a bit inappropriate? This is illegal."

"What's wrong, Great Detective? You can't quite accept it?" Gu Ze raised an eyebrow and said with a smile, "Don't be so rigid."

Shinichi Kudo was surprised by your methods and felt that your identity was unusual.

Unable to resist Gu Ze's persuasion, Conan finally gave in. In the future, Conan will discover that having a fake identity is actually quite appealing.

After calculating the time, Gu Ze estimated that Ran Mouri would be arriving soon. Not wanting to get too involved in the plot, he gave Conan a few words of advice and then left.

A few days later, one afternoon, at the Mouri Detective Agency.

Kogoro Mouri lay back in his chair, a bottle of beer in his arms, his feet propped up on the table, letting out his signature laugh.

"Dad, I told you not to drink so much! It's bad for your health! Really!" Ran Mouri picked up the beer bottle that had fallen on the ground and put it on the table.

Amid Ran Mouri's usual scolding, Conan opened his half-moon eyes and turned on the TV, which was showing the midday news.

"Recently, there have been several missing persons cases in the vicinity of Beika Town, with most of the victims being young people..."

The news broadcast successfully caught the attention of the three people, and they quieted down.

"Things have been really unsettled lately, Ran. Be careful when you go out," Kogoro Mouri said, putting his feet down on the table.

"Okay, Dad."

Such a minor incident wouldn't disrupt the rhythm of life. Just then, a commotion arose downstairs.

As a detective, Conan Edogawa has a keen sense of smell and immediately noticed something unusual. He jumped off the sofa, ran quickly to the window, and peered down from the window frame.

Looking down, in front of the coffee shop downstairs, a curly-haired man wearing sunglasses was pinning a man in a coat to the ground, while a man with medium-length hair was taking handcuffs out of his pocket.

“It’s Officer Hagiwara and Officer Matsuda.” Ran Mouri came over and recognized the two officers.

In Beika Town, where crime is rampant, Ran Mouri, who is frequently involved in cases, naturally knows police officers from the Metropolitan Police Department, including Jinpei Matsuda and Kenji Hagiwara from the First Investigation Division.

Once his interest was piqued, Conan couldn't resist leaving the window, preparing to go downstairs to investigate. "Ran-neechan, I'm going down to take a look."

Soon, Conan arrived at the scene. The "culprit" pinned to the ground was thin, wearing a large trench coat, and his entire face was covered by a mask and sunglasses.

"You two idiots, it's me!" The "prisoner" struggled violently and shouted loudly, but his words were not very clear because of the mask.

"I don't care who you are, come with us to the Metropolitan Police Department." Matsuda Jinpei grabbed the person on the ground, the "prisoner's" hands were handcuffed behind his back, and he could not resist.

"It's me! Are you all idiots?! It's me, Gu Ze!"

Kenji Hagiwara, Jinpei Matsuda, and Conan were all taken aback upon hearing this.

You know what, the "prisoner's" figure does look somewhat familiar.

"No way." Hagiwara Kenji took off the man's black sunglasses with disbelief, revealing his almond-shaped eyes with a resentful look.

"Gu Ze!" the three exclaimed.

Let's rewind to twenty minutes ago.

Kenji Hagiwara and Jinpei Matsuda parked their police car in front of a convenience store, bought some rice balls, and ate lunch next to the police car.

"Second-year graduate students, which restaurant are we going to next?" Matsuda Jinpei asked, spitting out a rice ball in a few bites.

"Yamagami Kagehito's house is on the next street."

Several recent disappearances have had a serious impact, and the Metropolitan Police Department is taking them very seriously, dispatching personnel from various departments to investigate them. Kenji Hagiwara and Jinpei Matsuda are responsible for visiting and investigating the families of some of the victims.

The two chatted idly, complaining about the lives of cattle and horses.

Suddenly, a woman passed by Matsuda Jinpei and Hagiwara Kenji, and a banknote fluttered down to Matsuda Jinpei's feet.

"Hey, you dropped your money." Matsuda Jinpei picked up the banknotes and called out to the woman.

The woman was wearing a yellow bodycon skirt, carrying a small leather bag, with a plump figure and exquisite makeup.

She hurriedly turned around, thanked Matsuda Jinpei repeatedly, and as she opened her left hand to receive the banknotes, she revealed the words written on her palm to the two policemen.

Upon seeing the words on the woman's hand, Matsuda Jinpei and Hagiwara Kenji's eyes narrowed instantly, because it read, "Someone is following me."

As police officers who uphold justice, how could they possibly sit idly by and wait for someone to be in danger?

After the woman left, Kenji Hagiwara discreetly observed his surroundings and, sure enough, spotted a figure wrapped up tightly a few dozen meters away.

To determine if it was the "culprit," Matsuda Jinpei and Hagiwara Kenji followed him for a while. After confirming it, the two seized the opportunity to subdue the "culprit," which led to the scene Conan witnessed.

"Untie me right now!!!" Gu Ze glared fiercely at Kenji Hagiwara and Jinpei Matsuda.

When Hagiwara Ken hurriedly unlocked the handcuffs, Gu Ze immediately looked around, but the woman was nowhere to be seen in the bustling crowd!

"Damn it, where did they go?"

"Hey, Jinpei, it seems like we've done something wrong." Kenji Hagiwara whispered in Jinpei Matsuda's ear.

"I know." Matsuda Jinpei appeared calm on the surface, but was actually panicking inside.

From the time the two met Gu Ze a year ago until now, they know Gu Ze's temper well. It takes a lot of money to appease an angry Gu Ze.

Gu Ze turned around and gave a seemingly benevolent smile, looking at the two who had caused the trouble.
