Chapter 28 Clever Kurosawa Solves Cases Online

"Drip, drip, drip." The inky liquid fell, splashing ripples on the surface of the water, the source of which was unknown.

"Glug glug—" It seemed that some creature was hiding beneath the dark surface of the water, its body churning.

Kurosawa Jin suddenly opened his eyes, his emerald green eyes looking somewhat lifeless. He lay on the surface of the black, muddy water, surrounded by pitch blackness.

He looked blank, but slowly, slowly, he began to regain his composure.

Where is this?

Kurosawa Jin sat up, rubbing his temples, and braced himself with his hands on the ground.

Hell?

He was somewhat dazed, his memories were jumbled; he remembered dying, and then time-traveling...

Was it all just a dream? Did he die in the end?

The liquids were unpredictable, rising and falling, real and fake, yet they were still able to support the Black Swamp Array, allowing him to walk on it as if on flat ground.

"Splash—"

Suddenly, a dark figure appeared behind the Black Swamp Formation.

"Thump thump thump—" That's the sound of a heart pounding wildly.

Kurosawa Jin noticed the change behind him, turned around with lightning speed, and immediately assumed a defensive stance.

The dark figure swayed and said in a deep, resonant voice, "Kurosawa Jin, long time no see!"

"Have I seen you before? Who are you?" Kurosawa Jin frowned.

"Me? Hahaha, who am I?"

The shadowy figure was laughing so hard it was shaking, as if it had some serious illness!

“You can call me—” the shadowy figure said, deliberately keeping the other person in suspense.

"phantom!"

Kurosawa Jin tilted his head. "An illusion?"

"Yes, I just reviewed your memories, and I found you to be even more interesting than I imagined!"

What! Memories? Kurosawa Jin was startled, and alarm bells immediately went off.

Kurosawa Jin retreated abruptly, knowing that his greatest secret might have been discovered by the shadowy figure.

"I don't understand what you're saying."

"Ha! Stop pretending, you from another world. You know perfectly well that there are magical aspects to this world."

After watching over 1,000 episodes of the still unfinished "Detective Conan" series and listening to Gu Gu's explanation, Kurosawa Jin learned that there are shrine maidens in this world.

"Are you a shrine maiden too?" Kurosawa Jin asked tentatively.

"No, no, no, I'm far more powerful than the shrine maiden. The red-haired shrine maiden is nothing compared to me. I am the king of the night!"

"As the sacrifice I made to knock on the door of another world, we will meet again! Goodbye, Officer Kurosawa!"

His words seemed to come from hell, capable of invading the soul and leaving an indelible mark.

After the phantom finished speaking, it suddenly turned into a cloud of mist and rushed towards Kurosawa Jin in the blink of an eye, entering Kurosawa Jin's body before he could react.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

Kurosawa Jin felt a tightness in his chest and was breathing heavily, as if someone was choking him.

A sharp cat's meow rang in my ears, "Meow meow meow!"

"Smack!"

The dream is over...

Kurosawa Jin opened his eyes, still sleepy, his silver hair disheveled.

What came into view was a beautiful three-flowered female, who was pressed against Kurosawa Jin's broad chest, rising and falling with his breath.

"I knew I couldn't breathe, it turns out it was you, you little rascal."

"Meow?"

As we all know, the probability of being killed by a cat is not 100%!

He shooed Tuanzi away and sat alone on the edge of the bed, muttering to himself in a hoarse voice, "I just had a dream, but I can't remember it..."

──

"Kurosawa, I didn't expect you to be this good." Takamoto Chosuke patted Kurosawa Jin on the shoulder with satisfaction.

The man with squinty eyes and thick lips is named Takamoto Chosuke. He appeared in episode 424 and is one of the police officers in the First Investigation Division.

A month has passed since Kurosawa Jin and Inoshita Yo joined the First Investigative Division. Yesterday, Kurosawa Jin solved another murder case with a sophisticated modus operandi, which greatly improved the public's perception of the Metropolitan Police Department.

"Hahaha, I told you, Brother Kurosawa is very smart, but you didn't believe me," Inspector Megure said with a loud laugh.

Kurosawa Jin remained silent, only smiling faintly as he looked at his two seniors.

"What about me? What about me?" Inoshita Yo popped his head out from between Inspector Megure and Takamoto Chosuke.

"Yeah, you're pretty good too." Inspector Megure gave Inoshita Yo a thumbs up.

"With juniors like you, the Metropolitan Police Department has a bright future!" Takagi Chosuke looked at the two energetic young men with great anticipation.

He scrutinized Kurosawa Jin, thinking to himself: As expected of the treasure that Odagiri Captain unearthed! And he's a professional player; his future is limitless!

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, with Kurosawa Jin's abilities and financial resources, he'll eventually rise to a high-ranking position in the Metropolitan Police Department!

At that moment, a young police officer ran over seriously and reported, "Inspector Megure, we just received a report that a body has been found in an old house."

"What!" Inspector Megure exclaimed in shock.

A dozen minutes later, in an old house in Tokyo, police vehicles surrounded the front gate, with officers coming and going, each performing their duties.

This ancient mansion exudes a mysterious and eerie atmosphere, with decaying doors, broken tiles, and peeling plaster on the walls...

It looks like a place where ghost stories often happen. Plus, someone died there, and he was directly admitted to graduate school. Will anyone still live there in the future?

"Jin, I have a feeling this place is a bit eerie." Inoshita Yao swallowed hard and told Kurosawa Jin his feeling.

"I've never seen you so timid before!" Kurosawa Jin teased, following Inspector Megure into the scene.

"Hey, hey, wait for me!"

Upon entering the crime scene, Kurosawa Jin was immediately overwhelmed by the strong smell of paint and had to cover his nose.

"Ugh, it smells so pungent!" Jingxia Yao complained, went back outside, took a deep breath, held it in, and ran back inside.

The room is decorated in a Japanese style, with tatami mats on the floor, bookshelves all around, and several futons on the floor—it is a study.

The deceased was a woman, wearing a light purple kimono, lying there with her hands folded and her expression peaceful.

On the tatami mat beneath her was a six-pointed star array, with a white candle placed at each point of the star; some were extinguished, while others were still burning.

The six-pointed star was painted with red paint, which is why it has that pungent smell.

The deceased is like a sacrifice; this formation offers her soul to the devil.

A strange array, a corpse without any wounds, a deep and secluded ancient house...

The sheer number of factors made Yao Jingxia's hair stand on end, and goosebumps rose in waves.

"Brother Takamoto, how's the situation at the scene?" Inspector Megure asked Takamoto Chosuke, who had squinty eyes and thick lips.

"The deceased was the new owner of the house, having moved in just one week ago. She was discovered by her friend."

"According to the deceased's friend, she had arranged to visit the deceased at noon today, and she had also spoken to the deceased on the phone at 10 a.m. today."

If the deceased's friends are not lying, then the deceased likely died between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Kurosawa Jin walked over and asked, "Where is that eyewitness now?"

“Miss Qiuya is currently in the next room, being questioned,” Takamoto Chosuke said, pointing to the next room.

"Ah Yao, go and see that eyewitness," Kurosawa Jin said, looking at Inoshita Yao, who was still pinching his nose.

"Okay, okay!" Jingxia Yao couldn't wait to leave, so he scurried off to the next room.

"There were no wounds on the body, no signs of a struggle at the scene, and the deceased died peacefully."

"So, it's possible the deceased was drugged by the killer before he died." Inspector Megure walked to the body with his hands behind his back.

"We still need to wait for the forensic examination to determine the specifics."

"Hmm!" Inspector Megure lowered his head in thought. "Brother Kurosawa, what do you think?"

He asked, as if to say, "Yuanfang, what do you think?"

"Brother Kurosawa? Brother Kurosawa? Hmm..."

After calling out several times without receiving a response, a question mark slowly appeared above Inspector Megure's head.

"Inspector Megure, where is Kurosawa?" Takamoto Chosuke reminded him.

The silver-haired youth stood in front of the only table in the room, staring intently at the small tabletop.

"Hey Kurosawa, what are you looking at?" Inspector Megure asked curiously as he approached.

On the table sat a card about the size of a tarot card, with exquisite, classic patterns and several gold-stamped words printed on a brown background.

"On the established track,

Three believers are pursuing the truth of the sun and moon.

The tall believer mocked the progress of the other believers.

He believed that his achievements were unmatched by others.

The short believer lamented his own inadequacy.

I feel unworthy to be a believer in the sun and moon.

Only the medium-sized believer knew

Everything is on track!

"What does this mean?" Inspector Megure asked, his face constricted after reading the riddle.

"The clock." Kurosawa Jin answered calmly, without any emotional fluctuation.

"What?" Inspector Megure's eyes widened as he carefully studied the words.

The "three believers" refer to three hands: the "sun and moon" represent time, the "tall believer" is the second hand, which runs the fastest, the "short believer" is the clock hand, which runs the slowest, and the "medium-sized believer" is the minute hand.

"I see!" Inspector Megure exclaimed in realization. He placed his hand on Kurosawa Jin's shoulder and praised him highly, "Brother Kurosawa, you are truly brilliant!"

“If it’s a clock, there’s only one clock over there in this room.” Takamoto Chosuke looked up and saw the round clock hanging on the north wall.

“Yes, if this card was left by the murderer, then the murderer must be referring to this clock,” Kurosawa Jin analyzed.

"Okay, go find someone to take that clock down," Inspector Megure ordered.

A moment later, a tall, young policeman walked over and reached out to take the object.

As soon as the clock left the wall, a card floated down from behind it.

"Inspector Megure, look!" The young officer hurriedly picked up the card and handed it to Inspector Megure.

"It's that same card again! What's the killer up to?!" Inspector Megure cursed.

The group focused their attention on the words on the cards.

The topmost words read: "To Officer Kurosawa".
