Chapter 25
Shen Che used the Thousand-Mile Step to travel the entire clan territory, and finally saw a flower radiating light on a distant snow-capped mountain peak.
The snow-capped mountain was a vast expanse of white, but this one tree stood out and could be spotted at a glance.
He intended to pick it directly, but as soon as he landed, he heard whispers from beneath the earth.
"Tsk, someone else wants these flowers? They're just asking for trouble."
"Don't say that. It's a flower that can recognize true love. Those people in the past were just going through the motions."
"cut."
Shen Che stood there silently listening, still not understanding what was going on with this flower.
Can it identify sincerity or will it test sincerity?
He listened for a while longer; the chattering of these creatures under the snow was giving him a headache, and now they were talking about other gossip.
Why bother with all this? He knows his own heart. Chen Che didn't want to listen anymore and went straight forward to pick the flower.
The moment I touched the leaf, countless memories from the past flashed before my eyes, from my birth to the scene when I left home, all like frames from a movie.
The past passed quickly until Ning Wensong appeared. The little cat appeared in his world like a dream and accompanied him for two months.
This period of time has been colorful and fulfilling, with every day filled with joy, countless ups and downs, and many things I've never experienced before.
The love that had been simmering in his heart grew ever stronger. When the memory finally settled on Ning Wensong's gentle and beautiful smile, he pulled hard and successfully plucked the Joyful Flower.
Its petals trembled, conveying a silent message to Chen Che.
He understood immediately, plucked a bit of pollen from the flower, and sprinkled it on the snow-capped mountain. The following spring, new, vibrant flowers continued to grow vigorously, waiting for the next destined person to pluck them.
Shen Che stared at the flowers in his hand, wishing he could appear in front of Ning Wensong right now, but not yet, he wasn't fully prepared.
He left the snow-capped mountain and returned to the back mountain of his tribe. He felt that there was only a patch of irises, which was a bit monotonous, but he couldn't think of anything to add.
"..." The Joyful Flower was pleased when this person plucked it, for it could witness love. But now, looking at the wooden-like Chen Che, it felt its judgment was a bit flawed. "Bamboo swing, roses, irises, mandarin ducks, moonlight, stars, dresses, suits..."
Shen Che showed no surprise that the Joyful Flower could speak; he was only interested in what it said.
"You know so much?" He benefited greatly from this.
"Hmph, what do you think?" The Joyful Flower's consciousness could continue for a while longer. Their clan only wanted to witness beautiful love, and what it said was nothing more than ordinary things.
Suspended in the sky above the iris flowers, Chen Che plucked a bamboo stalk from the bamboo grove near the market. He closed his eyes and cast a spell, and the bamboo in his hand began to grow and change shape.
With a thought, the bamboo chair, which was originally an ordinary chair, transformed into a swing, just the right size for two people to sit on.
He placed the bamboo chair in the center of the flower bushes, and then conjured rose vines with countless flower buds hanging from them, ready to bloom.
What Shen Che is thinking about now is to wait until nightfall, have Ning Wensong change into the dress he bought, and come here to hear the confession he has been thinking about for a long time.
"I hope everything goes smoothly this time..." Shen Che muttered to himself as he flashed back home.
Ning Wensong had already fallen asleep, still curled up like a little cat ball.
A look of infatuation appeared on his deep, serene cat face. He slowly moved to her side and wrapped Ning Wensong in his arms with his tail.
This is his.
The moon is exceptionally round tonight, and everyone is having sweet dreams.
After the two cats woke up together, Chen Che was called away to teach the new little monsters.
In the words of the cat mothers, Chen Che is nothing but free labor, and the strongest labor at that, so we must take advantage of her!
The priest suddenly appeared at that moment, grinning as he approached Ning Wensong, "Little Meow Song! I've come to play with you!"
Ning Wensong was startled and almost cried out, "Why did you suddenly scare me! My heart almost jumped out of my chest."
She noticed it yesterday; the priest looked like an old cat, but he didn't have the composure that someone his age should have. Instead, he was as unpredictable as a mischievous child.
"Oh, don't be so timid. I'll take you to see the environment where Chen Che grows." The priest approached with a mischievous grin, hooking her front paw with his tail and leading her towards a small grove of trees.
The environment in which he grew up was so profound... Ning Wensong was led forward, his mind constantly making guesses.
Someone like Chen Che must come from a very good family. I'm a little curious about her cat mom and cat dad.
Looking at the small house not far away, the priest explained to Ning Wensong, "Look, that dilapidated house that's about to collapse is where he lived when he was a child."
He thought about things from hundreds of years ago and slowly unfolded Shen Che's childhood for her. "A hundred years ago, human society was still a feudal country. We wanted to go to the outside world to exchange for useful tools, and it would take two years for one trip to and from there. The living conditions of all cats were not good, especially for Shen Che's family. His mother lost a leg because she fought with wild animals, and it was difficult to even get enough to eat at that time."
Ning Wensong finds it hard to imagine that back then, without the conditions we have now, they could only grow up in such a difficult environment.
"What about his father?" Ning Wensong couldn't help but feel a little puzzled when the priest didn't mention him.
The priest lowered his eyes, becoming unusually serious. "Alas, his father was also incredibly talented, but during a blizzard, he single-handedly protected the two of them and froze to death."
His words were full of regret; that cat demon was once the number one in its kind.
Ning Wensong's mood also dropped. Shen Che had never told her these things before. "So that's how it is. It's really amazing that Shen Che has grown to this point."
"Let's not talk about that anymore. I'll take you on a walk so you can get to know him better. I'll also tell you some of Chen Che's embarrassing stories."
The priest really wanted to share, but none of the cats would talk to him. Did a new kitten come along and he had to say everything at once?
Ning Wensong suppressed the tenderness in her heart and smiled, "Okay, go ahead and I'll listen."
They walked and talked like this until dusk. The priest continued recounting his dark and disturbing history.
"...Let me tell you a story. When Chen Che was a kid, he was a real troublemaker. Once, when his father was still alive, he picked up something shaped like a sword from the snow and took it home, placing it next to his parents' pillows. It stayed there for a month until spring came and the sword-shaped ice melted. Guess what it was?" The priest looked at her mysteriously.
Ning Wensong thought to herself that there was still an interactive segment, and after a quick mental search, she blurted out, "Stone? Diamond? Gold?"
"No, no, no! It's the poop of the biggest cat in the pack, yes, poop. It's sword-shaped. I never expected Chen Che to pick it up and put it by his pillow. When his dad found out, he hung Chen Che up and spanked him..."
The priest couldn't stop laughing when he thought about it, but before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by Shen Che who suddenly appeared.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't talk about his dark past like that." Shen Che had just managed to get away from that side when he heard the priest talking badly about him.
Ning Wensong was originally laughing, but when she saw Shen Che appear, she covered her mouth to suppress her laughter, and her eyes became round.
"Alright, laugh if you want, I allow you to laugh. But you can't, Priest." Shen Che said to Ning Wensong with a smile a second ago, but the next second he turned his face and sneered at the priest.
"Hey~ I'm off, you two go have some alone time." The priest said and then disappeared.
The air was silent for a moment. Chen Che swallowed hard, turned his back to tidy his appearance, and said softly to Ning Wensong, "A-Song, become human. I'll dress you in my best clothes and take you somewhere with me."
After Ning Wensong obediently transformed into a human, her face flushed. She sensed something was amiss and didn't dare to look up. "Let's go, I'll go with you."
As night falls, the sky is exceptionally clear tonight, without a single cloud, with the moon hanging high and stars dotting the sky.
The moonlight is truly beautiful tonight.
Ning Wensong was wearing the outfit that Shen Che had given him, which was suitable for the original character, and on his feet were small high heels that Shen Che had somehow conjured up.
The moment Chen Che led Ning Wensong into the iris bushes on the back hill, he suddenly changed into a white suit with a red rose pinned to his chest.
"..." Ning Wensong didn't speak, her eyes filled with shock. They were so well prepared. Her heart was pounding.
Walking straight to the center of the flower bushes, Shen Che faced Ning Wensong with a tense expression. He stretched his hand into the air and held a large bouquet of flowers, mainly irises and roses, in his arms.
His eyes lit up, a faint smile appeared on his face, and he slowly said, "Ah Song, I like you, I love you."
"You thought it was too fast before, so I waited until now, fully prepared, to confess my love to you under the witness of a sky full of stars."
"In the beginning, whenever I heard something that was unrelated, I would always think of you in my mind. Later, I thought of you all the time, your smile, your every move, what you were doing and thinking when you weren't by my side, and whether you were in a bad mood."
"I recorded all your preferences and your daily moods. I started writing a diary without your knowledge, recording our time together."
Shen Che said a lot, then paused to catch his breath, looking at Ning Wensong with hopeful eyes.
Ning Wensong was completely dumbfounded. She hadn't expected Shen Che to become enlightened so early and to have done so many things that no one else knew about.
Those things seemed insignificant on their own, but when Shen Che recounted them in detail, they moved her deeply.
The love that had been lingering in her heart burst forth in that instant, permeating her entire brain. This carefully prepared confession brought Ning Wensong to the peak of her emotions.
Life is so short, why not give it a try and be yourself? Besides, she really loves Chen Che, doesn't she?
Ning Wensong had already figured it out herself. At this moment, a gentle breeze blew by, and her hair fluttered quietly.
As Ning Wensong accepted the bouquet from Shen Che, the effect of the blooming flowers made her see in her eyes the efforts Shen Che had made to express his feelings.
She looked at Chen Che and smiled gently, her dimples reappearing, her voice full of love.
"I love you, and I accept your confession."
She looked forward to spending time with Shen Che in the future.
Chen Che will not let her down.
