Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Leng Huai took in Mo Xiaoxin's expression and sneered inwardly, thinking that this woman was indeed suspicious.

The guard picked up the box and handed it to Leng Huai.

Leng Huai opened the box and was deeply moved. He took out a pill: "This is Huanxin Powder. Anyone who takes it will lose their mind and become like a three-year-old child. Such a terrible drug, and you have more than one. Mo Qiuxin, I really underestimated you!"

Mo Xiaoxin naturally knew the power of these drugs. They were a gift from Xiaoxiao to her for self-defense. Not wanting to implicate Xiaoxiao, she stopped her and said, "This was a gift from a friend of mine. Whether you believe it or not, I didn't poison it!"

"Alright, then let me ask you, what were you doing sneaking around in the servants' courtyard today?"

Mo Xiaoxin was taken aback. No one should have noticed that he was following A Yun. How did he know?

She hadn't figured out what was behind the secret door, and it would be too rash to reveal it to A-Yun now.

"What? You won't tell me?" Leng Huaihan's eyebrows furrowed, his face showing impatience.

At this moment, Leng Huai only wanted to hear the truth from Mo Xiaoxin, but Mo Xiaoxin kept her head down and showed no intention of speaking, which made him even more frustrated.

He knew this woman wouldn't tell the truth willingly!

Seeing that Mo Xiaoxin was still stubbornly refusing to admit it, Leng Huai gradually lost patience, his tone becoming increasingly cold: "Mo Qiuxin, I'm not a patient person. Someone come here..."

Mo Xiaoxin's eyes widened suddenly. Leng Huai wanted to order her killed? Her alarm bells rang, and she immediately stopped him, saying, "No, no, no."

Well, at this point, she had no choice but to tell A-Yun.

Mo Xiaoxin: "I suspect someone is the murderer."

"Oh?" Leng Huai watched with great interest as Mo Xiaoxin resisted and argued, as if he were watching prey struggle in its death throes.

“My maid, A-Yun, is no ordinary maid. She has great magical power. Today, I followed her and found her acting suspiciously in the courtyard, so I followed her all the way. When I got to a corner, I found a hidden door there, but before I could find out what was behind the hidden door, I was captured and brought here.”

Leng Huai gestured to Qiao Yun.

Qiao Yun immediately understood and instructed the servants to bring A Yun to the main hall.

Ayun was dragged into the main hall. She knelt on the ground in fear, looking completely bewildered.

Mo Xiaoxin saw an expression on her face for the first time; it was an expression full of unease.

"Maid Ayun, you're acting suspiciously in the courtyard, hiding a secret door. What are you doing?" Leng Huai asked coldly.

Ayun rarely had any contact with Leng Huai, but seeing the Demon Lord up close now filled her with unease.

The servants all knew the Demon Lord's temper; he was bloodthirsty, ruthless, and merciless. They never dared to disobey him.

If the Demon Lord knew what she had done, he would certainly not let her go.

She looked a little nervous, her hands clenched into fists, tightly gripping the corner of her clothes.

Ah Yun looked like she had done something wrong. But then Ah Yun thought that since they asked her what she was doing in the yard, it meant they hadn't discovered anything, so she didn't need to worry.

She replied, "Your Majesty, I only discovered the secret door by chance. In my spare time, I would rest in the courtyard behind the secret door so that no one else would find me."

Rather than discovering her secret, it's better to proactively admit to being lazy than to have her secret exposed.

Mo Xiaoxin didn't miss any of A Yun's expressions. A Yun's eyes were shifty, and she was certain that A Yun was lying.

Mo Xiaoxin asked, "If you want to be lazy and not do any work, why don't you just rest in the bedroom?"

"If the person in charge finds out, you'll be fined." A-Yun's face returned to its usual expressionless state, and she answered Mo Xiaoxin's question without showing any fear.

Mo Xiaoxin sneered: "The manager is on leave today, you couldn't have been unaware, could you? Tell me, what exactly are you plotting? Did you poison my food?"

Ayun trembled and quickly shook her head in denial, saying, "Your Majesty, what are you saying? I don't understand."

"Don't understand? Fine, then let me ask you, how do you, a mere maid, possess such powerful magic? With your strength, you could easily be a female general in the Demon Palace, so why would you willingly remain a maid?"

“I…” A-Yun lowered her head and did not speak.

Leng Huai silently watched the commotion below the stage. From the moment A Yun entered the main hall, he had sensed that this maid was extraordinary. Indeed, as Mo Xiaoxin had said, this person's magic power was very strong.

First Mu Xiaoxiao, then A Yun. It seems his Demon Palace is hiding quite a few experts.

Qiao Yun returned from outside the main hall. He had just gone to check the courtyard and came back carrying a large burlap sack, which was shaking occasionally, as if it contained something alive. He leaned over and whispered a few words in Leng Huai's ear, and Leng Huai's face darkened.

When Ayun saw the large sack, her face immediately turned pale, and she unconsciously clenched her clothes.

Qiao Yun looked at A Yun, who was looking somewhat uneasy below, and shouted sternly, "How dare you, A Yun, keep a tabby cat in the Demon Palace!"

Mo Xiaoxin frowned, unable to believe it.

Cihuamao?

How is that possible?

Mo Xiaoxin didn't understand. Why was Ayun acting so suspiciously when they only kept a few tabby cats?

Upon hearing the sound of cats, Leng Huai's expression changed: "Get rid of those cats for me, and that maid too."

His face was filled with disgust and disdain; it was clear he utterly loathed cats.

Mo Xiaoxin immediately stopped her: "What are you going to do to those cats?"

Leng Huai's tone was extremely cold: "What I do is none of your business."

Leng Huai's expression was terrifying, as if he would kill Mo Xiaoxin immediately if she tried to stop him.

Mo Xiaoxin: "It's just a few cats, is it really necessary to make such a big deal out of it?"

Seeing this, the guards nearby quickly whispered a reminder: "Your Majesty, the Demon Lord was once injured by a cat demon, and afterwards he ordered that no cats be kept in the Demon Palace, or else there would be no mercy."

The sack was bitten open by the things inside, and several cats crawled out.

The cats were quite chubby and cute, including a large cat and several smaller ones. They seemed to sense the murderous aura emanating from the entire hall, and they looked around in fear and unease, meowing.

Ayun tried to stand up, but was unable to move because a large knife was held to her side. She knew that her secret adoption of stray cats would be discovered sooner or later, but she didn't expect that day to come so soon.

She had already sensed it when she entered the main hall, but she still had a sliver of hope that if she begged to bypass these small animals, perhaps the Demon Lord would take pity on them and let them go.

"Demon Lord, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have kept them in the Demon Palace. I'll release them from the Demon Palace right now. You can cut my worthless life into a thousand pieces, I won't hesitate." Ayun's face was full of regret.

She kowtowed desperately, trying to evoke even the last shred of pity from the Demon Lord.

Mo Xiaoxin was somewhat shocked. She hadn't expected that Ayun, who was usually taciturn and seemed like a bad person, would be so kind-hearted.

But the Demon Lord that A-Yun spoke of was not as easy to talk to as she imagined.

Leng Huai frowned: "It's so noisy."

He raised his hand and unleashed a burst of magic, instantly piercing a hole in A-Yun's neck. Blood oozed from the hole, and A-Yun's kowtow motion froze in mid-air, her head tilted as she fell sideways to the ground.

The entire action took less than two seconds, and a vibrant life was lost right before Mo Xiaoxin's eyes.

She once again felt the authority of the most powerful being in the demon realm; anyone who dared to disobey him would surely die without a burial place.

This kind of shock was something she had never experienced even when she died.

The stench of blood gradually spread throughout the hall.

The cats seemed to sense the approach of death, and their cries grew even louder. The large cat, seeing its nurturing owner die, disregarded the restraints of its family members and ran to A-Yun's side, licking her wounds.

The servants holding the cats, fearing they might anger the Demon Lord, quickly covered the cats' mouths, and the entire hall fell silent again.

All of this seems to be inextricably linked to her.

It looked like Leng Huai was about to lay a hand on the cats.

Mo Xiaoxin quickly stopped them, saying, "Stop!"

"What, you want to die too?" Leng Huai said disdainfully.

"You wanted to kill me anyway, didn't you? But my magic is like an ant to you; killing me like this would be too easy for you. But killing me like this would be too easy for the real culprit! Instead of standing here in a standoff, how about we make a bet?" Mo Xiaoxin showed no fear. She was going to try her best.

"Oh? What are we betting on?" As if he had heard something interesting, Leng Huai's lips curled into a playful smile. He fiddled with the magic ring on his hand, waiting with great interest for Mo Xiaoxin's next answer.

Seeing that Leng Huai was interested, Mo Xiaoxin felt a huge weight lifted off her shoulders.

"If I can find the murderer, can these cats be spared?" Mo Xiaoxin met Leng Huai's gaze without fear.

Leng Huai's eyes held a probing look: "The murderer catches the murderer? I'd like to see what other tricks you have up your sleeve?"

He stopped playing with the Ring: "I can take your life anytime, but I'm interested in playing the game you mentioned. I'll give you two months. If you can't find the murderer, you die."

"A gentleman's word is as good as his bond. What about these cats?" Mo Xiaoxin asked cautiously.

"Don't let me see them!"

Mo Xiaoxin quickly picked up the cats and left the main hall at top speed.

Mo Xiaoxin regretted it as soon as she left the main hall. Why didn't she let him kill her?

Forget it, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future. Let's focus on saving these cats first.

Mo Xiaoxin brought the cats back to their previous house. The house had been vacant since they got married, so it was perfect for keeping the cats.

The cats kept meowing incessantly, and Mo Xiaoxin guessed they were hungry, as her stomach was growling with hunger. It was well past noon, and she hadn't eaten anything; her stomach was practically touching her back.

After settling them in, I rushed to the woodshed.

Just as she was about to open the door to the woodshed, a dark figure flashed beside Mo Xiaoxin, startling her.

"Ziyu, it's you! Your sudden appearance almost sent me away." Mo Xiaoxin patted her chest, finally catching her breath.

Ziyu calmly stared straight ahead, her tone devoid of any emotion: "The Lord has ordered you to prepare the Demon Palace's meals."

"Huh?" Mo Xiaoxin was taken aback.

Ziyu frowned: "Wasn't I clear enough?"

"I understand, I understand." Ziyu has a bad temper, so she has to be careful.

As expected, like master, like subordinate; their irritable tempers and cold expressions are exactly the same.

She asked with a grin, "May I ask how many people are in the Demon Palace?"

"Not many, just over ten thousand people."

"One...more than ten thousand?" Mo Xiaoxin pinched her philtrum; this news almost killed her again.

"Okay, the dishes will be served in an hour."

After saying that, Ziyu disappeared in a flash.

Mo Xiaoxin's sky is about to collapse. There are more than 10,000 people. How did Xiaoxiao manage to do it all by herself before?

She took the spatula out of the space, and when her fingertips touched the spatula, she felt as if she had energy all over her body.

As she flipped her wrist, the ingredients were heated evenly wherever the spatula passed. The soup that originally needed half an hour to simmer was bubbling and emitting an enticing aroma in just ten minutes under the stirring of the spatula.

Even more amazing is that when the spatula lightly touches the dish, the surface of the ingredients immediately releases a fresh aroma that is several times richer than before.

She took a small sip, her eyes shining.

It's so delicious!
