Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Leng Huai frowned, looking at Mo Xiaoxin's carefree demeanor, wondering what kind of trouble she was up to.

Mo Xiaoxin craned her neck and looked at Leng Huai expectantly.

Leng Huai frowned, his voice devoid of any emotion: "What are you doing?"

Mo Xiaoxin blinked. Isn't it obvious? Hurry up and smear her neck.

Mo Xiaoxin made a snapping motion with her neck.

Leng Huai squinted. Had this woman lost her mind today? Not only did she run up to the roof to spy on him, but she also deliberately made such a commotion, and she even wanted him to kill her.

Okay, then he'll grant her wish.

Mo Xiaoxin was satisfied as Leng Huai slit her throat.

The whole process took less than five minutes.

Back in the space, Mo Xiaoxin eagerly awaited the start of the lottery, but the lucky wheel never appeared.

A system notification appeared with a "ding".

[System notification: 10,000 yuan deducted.]

Mo Xiaoxin's heart sank.

What's going on? Why are they deducting money from her pay instead of rewarding her?

Is there a bug?

She yelled for the system to appear: "System, what's going on? I've already completed a task, why didn't I get to participate in the lottery? And they even deducted money from my account!"

The system glanced at the death replay and sighed: "Host, cheating like this won't count as a death, and it will also deduct money, 10,000 each time. Please complete the task seriously."

The system pointed to the death replay image. There was a timer on Mo Xiaoxin's head with a ten-minute countdown written on it.

"There is a cooldown period after each death. The first three times are a trial period for beginners, so there is no cooldown period. After that, the cooldown period will become longer and longer."

Mo Xiaoxin's eyes widened: "Why didn't you tell me before?"

The system checked its fingers, not daring to look at Mo Xiaoxin: "Sorry, I forgot, but it's written in the contract."

Mo Xiaoxin was speechless; she had been in such a hurry that she hadn't read the contract.

Miscalculation, miscalculation.

Mo Xiaoxin suspected that the system was doing this on purpose, and that she had fallen into a trap.

She felt frustrated but helpless.

Since things have come to this, there's nothing we can do but obediently complete the task, since she's already signed the contract.

It's only ten minutes, I should be able to get through it, right?

Fortunately, this time the resurrection time could be chosen freely. After thinking about how to deal with it next time, Mo Xiaoxin pressed the resurrection button.

According to the previous procedure, Shui Lian would feed Leng Huai grapes and the two would talk in the room. Leng Huai would then kill Shui Lian and then kill her.

Mo Xiaoxin calculated the time; it was probably less than ten minutes.

She had to get off the roof.

Leng Huai, Leng Huai, she didn't come to this rooftop on purpose. She came and went quietly, so it shouldn't be a big deal, right? Let's hope nothing else goes wrong.

Mo Xiaoxin silently prayed that Leng Huai was incapacitated and would not notice that she had been on the roof.

The night was deep, and the crescent moon shone brightly, illuminating the path beneath her feet.

Mo Xiaoxin pretended to be a cat, meowed, avoided the tiles from the previous two times, took two steps back, and then tiptoed to the edge of the eaves, just in time to see the ladder that the original owner had climbed up the stairs.

The roof must be at least two or three meters high. The original owner was afraid of heights, but I never expected that she would climb so high for love.

Mo Xiaoxin couldn't help but sigh, this love-struck brain is truly something else.

Mo Xiaoxin carefully climbed down the ladder, listening intently as her feet touched the ground.

The two were still talking in the room, but Leng Huai's horrible, sour face did not appear.

She was not found.

Great! If we don't slip away now, when will we ever get another chance?

As she fled out of the courtyard, several demonic soldiers dressed in a sinister manner passed by carrying large swords. Mo Xiaoxin was so frightened that she hid behind a potted plant, not daring to breathe.

The original owner of this body was spoiled in the demon realm and never practiced magic much from a young age, which made her a weakling now. She doesn't even need to hit the big sword; the demonic energy will hurt her as soon as it gets close.

It's a miracle that the original owner, with such a frail body, dared to venture into the Demon Realm.

She looked around and saw a dark room not far away.

The demon soldiers would pass by from time to time, so she had to hide in her room to be safe.

As the demon soldiers walked away, she jogged into the room and quickly closed the door, finally daring to breathe loudly.

I glanced at the time; only two minutes had passed.

I don't know if I can make it through the remaining eight minutes.

Once my tense mind relaxes, I feel sleepy.

Her body felt weak and her head was spinning. There was a bed in the room, so she decided to rest for a while.

As I lay down in bed, I felt a pleasant fragrance wafting from beside my pillow, a deep and ethereal scent that relaxed my mind.

The scent seemed somewhat familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. As I dozed off, I thought I heard footsteps outside.

In her hazy state, she seemed to recall that scent...

She smelled it when she fell into Leng Huai's arms.

This is Leng Huai's bedroom!

My mind went blank for a moment.

What incredible luck! Of all the rooms available, she had to choose this one.

Without a second thought, she quickly sat up and hurriedly tried to crawl under the bed.

The space under the bed was very narrow. Mo Xiaoxin crawled slowly under the bed, feeling like she was racing against time. She was so nervous that she was sweating profusely, as if there were vengeful ghosts outside the bed and she would be swallowed up if she was a second too slow.

The moment the door opened, Mo Xiaoxin had already crawled under the bed.

That was close; we almost got caught.

If I'm not mistaken, the person who came in must be Leng Huai.

It was so late that the servants dared not trespass into the Demon Lord's bedchamber.

Holding my breath and concentrating intently, I could vaguely see the person slowly walking towards the bed through the sheets.

When I reached the bedside, I suddenly stopped.

Mo Xiaoxin's heart was pounding, but thankfully the person just sat on the edge of the bed and didn't seem to notice her.

She slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

The space under the bed was too cramped, and the cool floor pressed against her chest, making it hard for her to breathe.

Five minutes left.

She can get a reward as long as she stays under the bed and endures these five minutes.

Keep going.

Mo Xiaoxin kept encouraging herself.

Mo Xiaoxin kept staring at those feet, and after looking at the shoes, she was certain that they belonged to Leng Huai.

She thought Leng Huai would lie down and rest, but he just sat on the bed without moving.

Strange, what is Leng Huai doing sitting here the whole time?

Could it be that...

She has already been found?

I had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, the next second Mo Xiaoxin's hair was grabbed by a large hand, and Leng Huai pulled her out forcefully!

She had never felt her scalp being pulled so painfully; it hurt so much she wanted to curse her parents!

After being pulled out from under the bed, the hand gripping her scalp loosened its grip slightly.

Tears welled in her eyes from the pain. She touched her scalp, which felt like it was about to be ripped off, and thankfully, it was still there.

Before she could recover, she received another heavy slap to the chest.

Mo Xiaoxin was slammed hard against the door, the dull thud of her back hitting the wood mixed with the cracking sound of her bones dislocating.

A metallic sweetness surged up in her throat, and warm blood foam trickled down the corner of her mouth, blurring her consciousness.

A dark, shadowy figure gradually approached her, moving slowly and deliberately, as if torturing its prey.

Even without seeing those eyes, she could feel the extreme cold.

"I hate it when people come into my room. Tell me, how should I punish you?" Leng Huai's voice was devoid of any warmth.

He slowly approached Mo Xiaoxin, crouched down, his eyes dark and menacing like those of a demon from hell: "You sneaked up to my bedside, trying to assassinate me?"

Leng Huai gripped her chin tightly, without a trace of pity. The woman before him had unfocused eyes and shallow breaths.

“Leng Huai, I…” Mo Xiaoxin wanted to say that with her weak body, how could she possibly kill him?

Leng Huai's grip was very strong; Mo Xiaoxin felt like her jaw was about to dislocate, the bones cracking. Her tongue swirled in her mouth, but she couldn't make a sound.

"The Southern Demon King sent you to assassinate me? You overestimate yourself." Leng Huai increased the pressure on her hand, and Mo Xiaoxin only heard the sound of bones breaking. He had actually crushed her chin!

Mo Xiaoxin let out a shrill scream.

This dead man would be better off just killing her. What exactly does this madman Leng Huai want to do?

Tears streamed down Mo Xiaoxin's face as she shook her head and backed away. A cruel smile crept across Leng Huai's lips.

Before losing consciousness, Mo Xiaoxin glanced at the time.

Two minutes left.

Back in the space, Mo Xiaoxin's tears were still falling, and a feeling of grievance welled up inside her.

What terrible thing did she do to deserve running into such a madman?

Mo Xiaoxin's heart bled as she looked at the balance of only 80,000. Another 10,000 was gone. That hateful man.

She refused to believe it; it was only ten minutes.

Why doesn't she just find another place to hide this time?

Press the revive button hard.

When Mo Xiaoxin opened her eyes, she found herself in her room.

Strange, why didn't I wake up on the roof this time?

Could it be that they will be resurrected at the place where they died last time?

"Yes, host." The system explained her doubts; it was indeed as she had thought.

So, Leng Huai will be coming into this room soon. Thinking of how he was tortured so badly last time, a chill ran down his spine.

She needs to get out of here quickly.

Just as I was about to open the door, I suddenly heard heavy footsteps, "pat-pat," approaching from afar, like a demon tugging at my heart.

She recognized those footsteps all too well; they belonged to that scoundrel Leng Huai.

It was impossible for her to leave the house and hide, so she scanned the possible hiding places.

Excluding the space under the bed, there were beams, cabinets, a screen, and a large locked wooden chest.

Quickly identify in your mind a place where you can hide for more than ten minutes.

The beams and screen were too exposed, and the wooden chest had no key. She glanced at the nearest cabinet on her right and hid inside. The cabinet wasn't tall, and she had to crouch to close the door.

Just as I closed the cabinet door, it was pushed open, and the sound of a man's footsteps came through the gap in the cabinet.

Mo Xiaoxin held her breath and listened carefully to the sounds outside.

After entering the room, Leng Huai walked towards the bed, and seemed to pause slightly when he passed the cabinet.

She was drenched in cold sweat, and her legs, which had been in a half-squatting position, were starting to go numb. Fortunately, Leng Huai had only picked up something that had fallen outside the cabinet before walking to the bedside and stopping.

Mo Xiaoxin breathed a slight sigh of relief. There were still seven minutes left. Why was time passing so slowly?

She heard Leng Huai mutter to himself, "Where did my cat go? It must be hiding somewhere."

Then she heard Leng Huai searching everywhere, and her heart jumped into her throat as she prayed that he wouldn't find her!

As soon as Leng Huai entered the room, he saw a carved jade hairpin next to the cabinet. He walked over gently, picked it up, and examined it carefully.

He glanced at the cabinet, a mischievous smile spreading across his face.

Mo Xiaoxin felt aches and her legs were numb in the dark closet. She didn't know when Leng Huai's footsteps outside the door had disappeared.

Suddenly, she remembered that something seemed to have fallen on the ground before she went into the cabinet. She touched her head and saw it was her hairpin!

Mo Xiaoxin's breath hitched, and a sense of fear welled up inside her.

At the same time, the cabinet door was mercilessly cleaved in two, and fragments of the wooden door flew into Mo Xiaoxin's eyes. Mo Xiaoxin cried out in pain, and a drop of blood spurted from her eye socket, falling to the ground down her cheek.

Waaaaah, Leng Huai was so violent! Her bright eyes are now blind.

She heard the man outside the cabinet snort coldly, and then she lost consciousness.

She died in less than five minutes.

She couldn't even last five minutes!

After many more attempts, Mo Xiaoxin failed each time.

Looking at the zero balance, she finally sat down on the ground and started to give up.

Fortunately, her balance didn't turn negative, otherwise she would have wanted to kill herself.

She wandered around the space, thinking, "What the hell?! I'm not playing anymore, let whoever wants to play, play."
