Chapter 39

Chapter 39

“Father! Father!” she cried out.

As Mo Xiaoxin called out repeatedly, Mo Hanfeng, who was lying on the ground, twitched his fingers slightly, and then slowly opened his aged eyes.

His eyelids seemed very heavy, and it took him a long time to barely open them. His gaze fell on Mo Xiaoxin, then shifted to Leng Huai, and finally he looked at Mo Xiaoxin, his mouth moving with difficulty a few times.

Mo Xiaoxin almost jumped for joy. She grasped Mo Hanfeng's hand, tears streaming down her face. "Father, that's wonderful! You're not dead. It's all my fault for being so late. I'll save you right now!"

Mo Xiaoxin was about to cast a spell when Mo Hanfeng, who was lying on the ground, stopped her: "Daughter... I..."

Mo Hanfeng's breath was barely a whisper, as if uttering a single word had exhausted all his strength.

Mo Xiaoxin's eyes didn't leave Mo Hanfeng's face for even a moment. Seeing that he wanted to say something, she quickly moved closer: "Father, what do you want to say?"

Mo Hanfeng slowly opened his other tightly clenched hand. In his palm lay a piece of lustrous white jade, a quarter of a jade pendant. The carvings on it were delicate and intricate, the color pure and flawless, clearly a priceless piece of top-quality jade.

On the surface, the jade appears perfect, but it exudes a malevolent aura and is shrouded in a chilling black mist.

Mo Xiaoxin frowned: "What is this?"

Mo Hanfeng was panting heavily when suddenly his eyes widened and he stared intently at the ceiling, as if his body was enduring intense pain.

Mo Xiaoxin hurriedly cast a spell, but it was too late. Mo Hanfeng closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

"Father!" she cried, her healing spells continuing.

How is that possible?

She had saved that demon's subordinate before, so why couldn't she save her father?

Looking at the cold, lifeless body on the ground, Mo Xiaoxin finally believed that her father was gone.

Mo Xiaoxin picked up the broken jade from Mo Hanfeng's hand. As soon as she touched the jade, she felt a chill enter her palm and spread throughout her body, making her shiver.

This piece of jade is really strange.

Leng Huai examined the jade carefully, and after a moment, he recognized it: "This is a military order from the Northern Demon Realm."

“The Northern Demon Realm…” Mo Xiaoxin’s hand slowly clenched.

Suddenly, her mind went blank, and it felt as if something burst out of her body.

The whole world seemed to be plunged into darkness, and when things became clear again, a figure suddenly appeared in front of me.

Before me stood a woman dressed in gorgeous clothes and with a striking appearance.

Mo Xiaoxin was startled, rubbed her eyes, and stared in disbelief at the woman in front of her who looked exactly like her.

She has a split personality; did you see her second personality?

Or is Shadow Fog messing with her?

The woman was also looking at her, and seeing that her expression didn't seem surprised at all, Mo Xiaoxin felt a little uncomfortable.

The woman opposite suddenly spoke: "You finally saw me!"

"You...who are you?" Mo Xiaoxin asked in confusion.

"I am Mo Qiuxin," the woman said, tears streaming down her face as she looked at her loved ones on the ground, her expression filled with sorrow.

“I have been sleeping inside your body.”

Mo Xiaoxin was startled, and an idea immediately came to mind.

Could it be that the reason she had been feeling strange and involuntarily sad and upset before was because Mo Qiuxin was inside her body?

"Who are you talking to?" Leng Huai noticed that something was wrong with Mo Xiaoxin.

She's talking to thin air. Could it be that she's delusional from being too heartbroken?

Mo Xiaoxin noticed that Leng Huai was looking at her like she was crazy. She frowned, unsure how to explain to Leng Huai.

If she said she wasn't Mo Qiuxin but someone from another world, talking to the original owner of this body, wouldn't Leng Huai have to cut open her brain to take a look?

While Mo Xiaoxin was internally complaining, Mo Qiuxin became anxious first. She said, "Hey, Mo Xiaoxin, don't tell him I'm already dead! Do you hear me!"

Mo Qiuxin frowned, her words delivered in her usual commanding tone.

Mo Xiaoxin raised an eyebrow. If Mo Qiuxin had spoken to her calmly, she wouldn't have told Leng Huai.

But she was annoyed by Mo Qiuxin's arrogant and domineering tone. This demon princess was used to being bossy, but Mo Xiaoxin was not a good-tempered person, and she would not tolerate her!

However, to avoid trouble, she pretended to have a headache and said to Leng Huai, "I'm probably too heartbroken. I want to stay here with my father and brothers for a while. You can go out and wait for me."

Leng Huai glanced at her suspiciously, but someone like him who had never had parents' love since childhood couldn't quite understand Mo Xiaoxin's feelings. He didn't say anything and left the main hall alone.

Mo Qiuxin stood with her hands on her hips, watching Mo Xiaoxin with satisfaction as Leng Huai left. Only then could she easily talk to Mo Xiaoxin.

After Leng Huai left, Mo Xiaoxin glared at Mo Qiuxin and said, "What kind of tone is that? I'm not your servant! Why should I listen to you? I can tell him whatever I want, it's none of your business!"

Mo Qiuxin was taken aback, seemingly not expecting her to say that. She had thought this woman was easy to manipulate.

She could see everything and everyone in this world, but they couldn't see her. If Leng Huai knew she was dead, he would probably feel disgust and fear towards her, and she didn't want the Leng Huai she loved to have such thoughts about her.

She stammered slightly, and her arrogant tone softened a bit: "Don't be angry, I was just anxious. He's the person I've always loved. Don't tell him I'm dead."

Seeing that she had calmed down, Mo Xiaoxin said, "That's right. Don't worry, I won't tell him."

Mo Qiuxin glanced at the figure outside the main hall; they were too far away to hear their conversation. She said, "I want to ask you for a favor: please help me take revenge."

Mo Xiaoxin refused outright: "I won't help."

She still has a mission to complete, how could she possibly have this kind of time!

Mo Qiuxin's expression changed upon being rejected, and she instantly became furious. Pointing at Mo Xiaoxin's nose, she cursed, "You alien, you inexplicably occupied my body and squeezed me out of it. I haven't even settled accounts with you yet!"

Mo Xiaoxin: "What do you mean you were pushed out? You were already dead before I came back!"

Mo Qiuxin stammered, admitting that she had indeed died in an accident before Mo Xiaoxin arrived: "Oh well, anyway, you've taken over my body, and I'm not happy!"

Mo Xiaoxin didn't want to pay attention to her and simply turned and left.

Is this the attitude you should have when asking for help?

Mo Qiuxin softened. She finally understood that this woman was only responsive to gentle persuasion, not force: "Oh, my dear sister, please help me. After all, I've provided you with a body, haven't I?"

Mo Xiaoxin then stopped and looked at Mo Qiuxin: "Instead of asking me for help, you should ask Leng Huai for help. You know your body; you have no magic power at all. A few days ago, I did awaken ice magic, but I lost it as soon as I woke up."

Mo Xiaoxin helplessly spread her hands: "Besides, the other side has more people and stronger magic. Wouldn't it be suicide for someone like me who knows nothing to go there?"

Mo Qiuxin was anxious: "Leng Huai doesn't like me at all, there's no way he'd help me!"

Mo Xiaoxin: "Why would he marry you if he doesn't like you?"

Mo Qiuxin shook her head: "I don't know either. No matter how much I tried to please him before, he was unmoved. I didn't expect that he would marry me."

The thought that the person she loved would agree to marry her made her happy, but unfortunately she was already dead and could only see him as a spirit. Although she was already satisfied to be able to see him, she was still somewhat disappointed. Moreover, she had lost all her senses and her body was not under her control; she could only passively follow Mo Xiaoxin's thoughts.

Pity……

This is also why she has been reluctant to be reincarnated.

The thought of Mo Xiaoxin being able to use her body to kiss and hug Leng Huai made her furious!

However, the most pressing matter is not love, but her parents.

Mo Qiuxin: "Don't interrupt me! If you don't help me get revenge, I won't let you complete your mission!"

Mo Xiaoxin was startled. Could it be that Mo Qiuxin knew she had a system?

She asked tentatively, "What mission?"

Mo Qiuxin snorted coldly: "I know everything about you. You came from the modern world as a working beast of burden, and after you died, you came to this world to occupy my body and do missions to make money!"

Mo Xiaoxin's heart skipped a beat: "How did you know?"

Mo Qiuxin boasted, a little smug: "Don't worry about how I know. If you don't want me to ruin your mission, then you'd better help me honestly. Besides, I know all about what you've done. If it were me, I definitely wouldn't have done such shameful things!"

She wouldn't be so shameless as to seduce Leng Huai!

Mo Xiaoxin pondered that she had indeed taken over the other person's body and done some things that the other person might not have wanted to do. Since that was the case…

Mo Qiuxin warned, "I've been watching everything you do. You can't get too close to my Leng Huai. You two... you kissed last time. Although I know you wanted to save him, oh dear, how embarrassing."

Judging from Mo Qiuxin's expression, she could probably sense any movement between her and Leng Huai. Suddenly feeling like she was being watched, and recalling her previous intimate interactions with Leng Huai, she felt incredibly embarrassed.

Mo Xiaoxin said speechlessly, "Don't think everyone likes that man? That man is arrogant, conceited, cold-blooded, and ruthless. I don't know what's so good about him..."

Mo Qiuxin couldn't stand anyone speaking ill of Leng Huai. Her face puffed up with anger, and she wanted to argue with Mo Xiaoxin.

Mo Xiaoxin stopped her from interrupting: "Although I don't know why you don't reincarnate, well, since I've taken over your body, I'll give you a hand."

Mo Qiuxin was so excited to see Mo Xiaoxin finally agree that she burst into tears. She didn't care that Mo Xiaoxin had spoken ill of Leng Huai: "I didn't mean to threaten you. It's just that my parents and two brothers died here, and I could only watch helplessly as those despicable people got away with it."

Mo Xiaoxin interrupted, "Alright, let's not waste any more time. Tell me how I can help you?"

Mo Qiuxin: "Isn't Sister Ziyu teaching you magic? You should continue to ask her for advice and learn from her."

Mo Xiaoxin: "But that spell is too difficult, I really don't know how to do it."

Mo Qiuxin unconsciously put on her princess-like airs again: "There's nothing you can't do, you're just lazy, too lazy to learn!"

Mo Xiaoxin touched his nose. The words were rough but the reasoning was sound. What Mo Qiuxin said was indeed true.

After Mo Qiuxin said goodbye to her relatives, Mo Xiaoxin asked Mo Xiaoxin to bury them. Mo Xiaoxin agreed, and Mo Qiuxin entered her body again.

It's a strange feeling, one body with two souls.

Mo Xiaoxin walked out of the main hall, while Leng Huai was still waiting outside.

Looking at Mo Xiaoxin's sorrowful face, now dry of tears, and recalling her recent state of mind, Leng Huai wanted to offer some words of comfort but didn't know how to begin. He opened his mouth, then closed it again.

Lost in her grief, Mo Xiaoxin didn't notice Leng Huai's unusual behavior. She was used to his cold and aloof demeanor.

She gave a wry smile: "I was just overwhelmed with grief. I might have to wait for you for a moment. I need to bury my loved ones."

In front of the tomb.

A man, a woman, and a spirit stood before the tombstone. Mo Xiaoxin looked at Mo Qiuxin's face, which was pale with tears.

Mo Qiuxin: "Father, Mother, Eldest Brother, Second Brother, I will definitely avenge you! I will make sure the murderer who killed you has no place to be buried!"

It seemed that Mo Qiuxin's resoluteness infected Mo Xiaoxin, and Mo Xiaoxin unconsciously repeated the same words at the same time.

Mo Xiaoxin was stunned after saying that. Was her body being controlled by Mo Qiuxin?

She glanced stiffly at Leng Huai, who was staring at her, hoping he wouldn't notice.

Unexpectedly, Leng Huai blurted out, "I won't help you."

Mo Xiaoxin: "???"

Please, she didn't ask him for help.

Mo Xiaoxin rolled her eyes inwardly. He was indeed cold and heartless. She wondered what Mo Qiuxin liked about him.

Mo Qiuxin wasn't surprised; she had expected Leng Huai wouldn't help her.

Mo Xiaoxin pursed her lips and said stubbornly, "If you don't want to help, then don't. I can manage on my own!"

After burying the tombstone, Mo Xiaoxin prepared to return to the Demon Realm. Now she needed to practice her magic as soon as possible to take down those guys from the Northern Demon Realm.

As soon as she left the demon palace, Mo Xiaoxin encountered a little demon she had met during a spring outing when she was a child. Next to the little demon lay an old demon with a thin spear stuck in his chest.

That little demon was a peach blossom demon named Heng Xiaotao. She almost fell off the carriage, but luckily this little flower demon used a branch to lift her up so she wouldn't fall to the ground.

Pulling herself back to reality, she looked at Heng Xiaotao, who was kneeling on the ground and crying incessantly, and felt a pang of pity. She walked over to her.

Heng Xiaotao sensed someone behind her and immediately became alert. Her tear-reddened eyes instantly turned sharp, and she conjured peach blossom branches with both hands to prepare for battle.

When she saw that the person who came was Mo Xiaoxin, she was stunned for a moment, and then she sobbed, "Your Highness...you're back...my...my grandfather...is dead!"

She kept sobbing and crying very sadly.

Mo Xiaoxin sighed and patted Heng Xiaotao's head: "Xiaotao, are you alright?"

Heng Xiaotao tried to be strong and say that she was alright, but tears kept streaming down her face. She couldn't pretend to be strong; she was very sad and heartbroken: "My family is all dead. I'm all alone now, Your Highness. I'm scared..."

Several lesser demons were hiding not far behind Heng Xiaotao; they were clearly her friends. Their faces and bodies were covered in blood, and they only came out to greet her when they saw that it was Mo Xiaoxin.

Mo Xiaoxin felt very sad, looking at this once lively and lovely little flower fairy who had become so fragile.

She thought for a moment and said, "Don't be afraid, Xiao Tao. The Southern Demon Realm is no longer safe. I am weak and cannot protect you right now. You should quickly find a safe mountain to hide on."

Heng Xiaotao nodded. Suddenly, her small face twitched inexplicably, and she instantly fell into a daze. Her eyes were unfocused, and her body slumped down unnaturally, like a soulless shell.

Possessed by an evil spirit?

Noticing that something was wrong with Heng Xiaotao, Mo Xiaoxin asked, "Xiaotao, what's wrong?"

Hearing someone call her name, Heng Xiaotao subconsciously raised her head. She glanced at Mo Xiaoxin with unfocused eyes, then lowered her head again without saying a word.

Mo Xiaoxin was puzzled. What was going on?
