Chapter 57
The raging fire engulfed the vines, causing them to tremble violently. The vines then snapped back onto Mo Xiaoxin's branch, and Mo Xiaoxin was thrown heavily onto the platform.
The vines tried to extinguish the flames, but the fire spread rapidly along the branches. The vines began to writhe erratically, as if in great pain, sending out distress signals to Mu Xue.
The Illusionary Spirit Abyss has everything, except water. Mu Xue couldn't possibly use the Thousand-Year-Old Frozen Water to save the vines.
She watched coldly from the sidelines and said softly, "Over the years, I have been nourishing you with my blood. I have been more than kind to you. It is only right that you repay me with your life."
The vines seemed terrified by Mu Xue's attitude towards them and attacked Mu Xue as if provoked.
Mu Xue frowned as she dodged the attack from the vines, and angrily rebuked, "Useless trash! How dare you attack your benefactor!"
The vines twisted and turned as if they were going crazy, and Mu Xue began to fight with them.
The movement of the vines broke the barrier. Mo Xiaoxin tried to leave the platform and fly to Leng Huai's side. She tried to tear the spider silk binding Leng Huai's limbs, but no matter how hard she tried, the spider silk was very tough and there was no sign of it being torn. Instead, it cut her hands.
After Mo Xiaoxin's attempts failed, the spider silk drained away her blood and spiritual power.
Leng Huai said weakly, "It's no use. Go and rescue the Demon God Staff first."
Mo Xiaoxin glanced at Mu Xue and Teng Man, who were fighting fiercely, but it seemed that no one was paying attention to the commotion.
Mo Xiaoxin secretly walked behind Mu Xue to the water vat and peeked out to see the magic staff being soaked in ice.
Just as she was about to reach for the Demon God's Staff, Mu Xue struck out with a palm, and Mo Xiaoxin quickly dodged.
Mo Xiaoxin thought to herself, "How can this person be doing two things at once?"
As Mu Xue used her spider silk to entangle with the vines, she glared at Mo Xiaoxin and said, "If you dare to move, you're dead!"
Mo Xiaoxin disliked being threatened. She used her raging fire to separate Mu Xue from the water vat, determined to retrieve the Demon God Staff from the water.
Mu Xue was so angry that she blew her nose and glared: "Damn it, she actually managed to take advantage of the situation!"
While Mu Xue was distracted, the vines quietly grabbed her neck.
Mu Xue's face flushed red with anger: "How did I treat you back then? How dare you treat me like this!"
Leng Huai sneered from behind: "I never thought Mu Xue would have this day. You finally understand what it felt like when I was betrayed by you all!"
Mu Xue had no time to pay attention to Leng Huai. It transformed into its spider form and pressed the button for the fourth door with one foot.
The fourth door slowly opened, and out came countless giant spiders.
Mo Xiaoxin was stunned; these spiders were even larger than the ants. She had always hated insects and reptiles, and today she had seen enough of them, which disgusted her to no end.
Another loud booming sound followed, and the two previously separate ground levels merged into one, as the spiders frantically crawled towards them.
The spiders split into three groups: one attacked Leng Huai, one attacked the vines, and one attacked Mo Xiaoxin.
With his limbs bound by spider silk, Leng Huai had no strength left to fight back.
Seeing that things were going badly, Mo Xiaoxin quickly took the Demon God Staff to rescue Leng Huai.
She first unleashed a barrage of flames to surround Leng Huai, preventing him from being attacked by the spiders. Then she began relentlessly unleashing fire attacks on the spiders.
The Demon Staff, still dazed from emerging from the millennia-old icy water, instinctively unleashed a fire attack on the charging spiders.
With the help of the spiders, Mu Xue finally killed the tangling vines.
In a flash, she poured the thousand-year-old icy water towards the flames in front of Leng Huai.
The flames were extinguished, and the spiders swarmed forward, all desperately hungry and eager to devour Leng Huai.
Mo Xiaoxin was getting anxious. There were so many spiders that they couldn't be burned off, and they were still rushing towards them in droves. It was really troublesome.
Leng Huai can't die, otherwise her mission will be over!
What to do? What to do!
Her mind was in a mess, but her body moved instinctively. A burst of ice shot out from her palm, blocking all the spiders that were crawling towards Leng Huai.
Mo Xiaoxin paused for a moment, then looked at her palm.
What's going on? Her ice magic is back?
No wonder she suddenly felt a surge of energy just now.
There was no time to think about what was going on; saving Leng Huai was the priority right now.
The spiders frantically scratched at the ice, their legs scraping against it with a hissing sound that was unpleasant to the ears.
Mu Xue frowned as she looked at Mo Xiaoxin, wondering what this woman's background was. She looked like a weakling just now, how did she become so powerful now?
While she was still in a daze, Mo Xiaoxin's ice pillar came flying towards her, and Mu Xue quickly focused her mind to dodge the attack.
Seeing that the situation was not good, Mu Xue persuaded Mo Xiaoxin, "Miss, I was wrong just now. Didn't you want to practice your magic in the Illusionary Spirit Abyss? All the flowers, plants and trees here have the ability to help you improve your skills. If you are willing to kill Leng Huai with me, then you can pick any flowers and plants in the Illusionary Spirit Abyss you like."
Mo Xiaoxin sneered, "Big sister, your ability to change your expression is astonishingly fast."
Mu Xue was displeased to hear the term "elder sister," but she still patiently persuaded Mo Xiaoxin: "In the Demon Realm, why not come to my Illusionary Spirit Abyss? Here, the spiritual energy of heaven and earth gathers, which can help you quickly improve your spiritual power. When you are the most powerful in the world, the Demon Realm will be yours. What man can't you get then!"
Mo Xiaoxin sighed that Mu Xue's thinking was quite advanced, and her female lead mentality was really impressive.
If she were rich and capable, of course she wouldn't lack men. But she's just a lowly contract worker now; she has to save Leng Huai.
Mo Xiaoxin, not wanting to listen to her nonsense, interrupted Mu Xue's incessant chatter: "You should have seen my ice magic. You are no match for me. If you surrender now and release Leng Huai, I might spare your life. Otherwise..."
If Mo Xiaoxin hadn't been unsure how to remove the spider silk from Leng Huai's body, she definitely wouldn't have spoken to Mu Xue so politely.
Mu Xue bit her lip. Killing Leng Huai was her only obsession in this life, and she could not give it up.
She transformed back into human form and smiled gently at Mo Xiaoxin, saying, "Miss, I can see you love your husband very much, and I can also see you are a person of great loyalty and affection. Don't worry, I'm not a bad person. The reason I'm treating you this way is because of Leng Huai. Leng Huai and I have a grudge, and I certainly won't let him go. He's a big liar who hid his true power and harmed my father and brother; his crimes are unforgivable. Don't be fooled by him. With your beauty, you're sure to find a better husband. Instead of wasting time on such a scoundrel, you should hurry up and find another husband. Here's what we'll do: Miss, we have no enmity. You can leave now, and I won't hold it against you."
Mo Xiaoxin listened to her rambling on and on, and in the end, it sounded as if she had taken pity on Mo Xiaoxin and let her go.
Do you think she's stupid?
I was inexplicably captured by her and tortured by all sorts of ants and vines, and in the end she didn't even apologize.
She now understood how Leng Huai had been fooled by such swindlers when he was a child.
This person is practically a master of PUA!
Mo Xiaoxin sneered: "Big sister, you've been muttering to me for so long, just trying to get me to get lost so you can kill Leng Huai, right? Let me tell you, no way!"
Mu Xue's smile froze, and the sinister look in her eyes returned: "You won't listen when I tell you nicely, so don't blame me for being impolite!"
The next second, Mu Xue transformed back into her spider form and hissed. The spiders behind her responded, and the sound echoed throughout the cave, making it particularly eerie.
Mo Xiaoxin stared at her warily, wondering what she wanted to do.
Suddenly, countless tiny holes appeared in the walls of the cave. Mo Xiaoxin looked at these holes with suspicion, a bad feeling spreading through her heart.
Immediately afterwards, those tiny holes quickly emitted strands of silk that wrapped around her entire body, turning her into the shape of a silkworm cocoon.
The speed was so fast that Mo Xiaoxin had no time to resist.
She heard Mu Xue's arrogant voice: "This is the Vajra Spider Silk that I specially prepared for this day. This spider silk cannot be burned by fire or dissolved by water. You can sleep here forever!"
Enraged, the Demon God Staff spewed a flame at Mu Xue, but Mu Xue smiled slightly and also spewed a flame at the Demon God Staff. The two flames merged and made a sizzling sound.
Leng Huai's heart sank; his magical power had been completely absorbed by Mu Xue.
The magic staff was ultimately no match for Leng Huai's magic power and was defeated. Mu Xue casually threw the magic staff into the spider swarm, and the spiders swarmed up and began to devour it.
Mo Xiaoxin was trapped in the spider silk pupa and could not move. Although she could not see the scene outside, she could hear the sounds from outside. She could feel the pain in her heart as the Demon Staff was being eaten, which made her feel like she had a fishbone stuck in her throat.
The Demon Staff had always been loyal to her, yet she had allowed it to suffer such humiliation. Mo Xiaoxin felt an immense pain in her heart, as if she were being gnawed at by these spiders.
Mu Xue walked step by step toward Leng Huai, looked at Mo Xiaoxin's ice pillar, and smiled disdainfully.
She used flames to burn the ice pillars, and slowly the ice pillars began to melt. She said disdainfully, "It's just a trivial skill. How can it compare to my years of hard work?"
As the icicles melted, Leng Huai's disheveled appearance came into view. Mu Xue slowly walked up to Leng Huai, looked up at him who had been tortured beyond recognition, and said in a cold, emotionless voice: "Today is your death day."
She raised her hand to strike Leng Huai's chest, but before she could use her magic, her lower body felt as if it were in the deepest, freezing cold, causing her to frown.
She glanced down and saw that her feet were pinned to the ground by icicles that were slowly rising. Before she could even speak, she was frozen solid in less than two seconds.
Mo Xiaoxin withdrew her hand and glanced sideways at the frozen ice pillar. Mu Xue's right hand was still raised, in a comical pose.
She walked around to Mu Xue's side and saw Mu Xue's incredulous eyes.
"Aren't you curious about how I cracked your King Kong spider silk?"
Mu Xue blinked. Right now, she could only move her eyes and breathe through her nose; she couldn't move anything else.
She was utterly baffled. This was the spider silk she had spent a thousand years cultivating, and it was no ordinary silk. She had originally intended to bind Leng Huai, but she never expected to use it to bind this little girl. What made her even more furious was that the girl had emerged from it in less than the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea.
What about all her efforts over the years?
Mo Xiaoxin naturally saw the anger and inquiry in Mu Xue's eyes, and she smiled and said, "I'm not telling you!"
Suddenly, a head popped out of the Demon God Staff behind Mo Xiaoxin and waved it in front of Mu Xue.
Mu Xue's eyes widened. This thing wasn't already...
Mo Xiaoxin took out a bunch of spider legs from behind her and waved them in front of Mu Xue: "Take another look at what this is?"
Mu Xue's eyes seemed to be spitting fire.
“That’s right, these are roasted spider legs. They smell pretty good, but I won’t eat them. They’re poisonous.” Mo Xiaoxin looked disgusted.
Mo Xiaoxin stuck all the spider legs onto the icicles, making them look like a bunch of crab legs. She looked at her masterpiece with satisfaction, a pleased smile on her face: "Not bad, not bad."
Mo Xiaoxin was satisfied only after successfully seeing the murderous look in Mu Xue's eyes.
Then, Mo Xiaoxin used fire in one hand and ice in the other to melt the spider silk binding Leng Huai's limbs.
The rescue of Leng Huai went surprisingly smoothly.
However, something unexpected happened to Mo Xiaoxin.
Leng Huai fell from mid-air and landed heavily on Mo Xiaoxin.
Mo Xiaoxin almost suffocated from the pressure.
What a beautiful scene of a beautiful woman saving a hero! How did Leng Huai manage to make it all so messy?!
She was about to get angry when she saw that Leng Huai had fainted at some point, his face pale and bloodless, his body ice-cold as if he were dead.
Mo Xiaoxin suddenly panicked.
"Leng Huai, Leng Huai?"
There was no response.
Finished!
Just when she felt like the sky was falling, Leng Huai responded weakly, "Mm."
The sound was as faint as a mosquito's buzz, and Mo Xiaoxin wondered if she had misheard.
Fortunately, Mo Xiaoxin felt Leng Huai's faint breath spraying on her face.
Good heavens, he's still alive!
It's good that you're not dead, it's good that you're not dead.
Mo Xiaoxin carried Leng Huai on her back, with the Demon Staff following behind. It hopped and skipped, stomping on the spiders that had already turned into clumps of mud on the ground a couple more times to vent its anger. Then it ran out with Mo Xiaoxin, leaving the entire cave in a mess, with countless spider corpses scattered all over the ground.
After Mo Xiaoxin left with Leng Huai, several hours later, the ice pillars began to slowly melt, and Mu Xue was finally able to stretch her muscles and bones.
She collapsed helplessly to the ground, watching as the spiders she had kept turned into corpses.
She was about to use her magic to dispose of the children's corpses when she was horrified to find that her magic had completely vanished.
