Chapter 19 Moving Back to the Villa

Thousand-Mile Eyes laughed and said, "Alright!"

Having temporarily found the mysterious organization's sanctuary, our next step is to quickly take care of Zhu Chen. Ji Lin'an and I left behind the clairvoyant and, after leaving the villa, chose to walk and post coded messages nearby. We also went to Zhu Chen's bridal chamber. Before we even arrived, we saw the garden gate was open. Ji Lin'an and I cautiously went in to check, guns in hand. The front door wasn't closed properly, and Ji Lin'an easily pushed it open with his gun. Upon opening the door, we were met with shocking bloodstains. They looked like they had been dried for a long time, turning black and clinging tightly to the white marble floor tiles. The bloodstains spread from the front door to the dining room and living room, suggesting that the injured person had struggled to crawl inside. The bloodstains disappeared at the top of the stairs, leaving only a long streak of blood, like someone had dragged someone.

Ji Lin'an suddenly reached out and stopped me: "You stay here first, I'll go check the surroundings."

I obediently stayed where I was, holding my gun, and looked around. There seemed to be no signs of a struggle. I went to the front door to check the lock, but there were no signs of it being pried open. Could this bloodstain be Zhu Chen's? But the bloodstain didn't look recent. The ash on the bloodstain looked like it had been there for several weeks.

A moment later, Ji Lin'an came downstairs, looking at me with a somewhat serious expression. I frowned and asked, "What's wrong? This bloodstain isn't Zhu Chen's, is it?"

Ji Lin'an shook his head: "There's a corpse up there, with severe injuries to the face and body. Judging from the build and clothing, it should be Zhu Chen's wife, but the body has been badly gnawed by rats..."

Ji Lin'an didn't continue, his expression was ugly, perhaps because the scene was too disgusting. I walked over and patted his back lightly: "Although this person is quite annoying, now that you mention it, I feel that she is quite pitiful. Zhu Chen should have been here before and seen his wife's situation. I wonder what he has been through these days. I'm really curious."

I glanced guiltily at Ji Lin'an: "I'm just really curious. Even if someone unrelated to me found out about these things, I would be very curious too. Life in the apocalypse is boring, so please allow me to eat my fill of gossip."

Ji Lin'an's previously distressed expression softened a bit, and she forced a smile: "I haven't even said anything yet, and you're already trying to cover it up."

I was alarmed: "I'm serious, aren't you curious?"

Ji Lin'an laughed and said, "I'm not as gossipy as you, but to be honest, Zhu Chen seems to be a simple-minded but physically strong person. It's quite impressive that he has survived in the apocalypse for so long. Now that he has become a lucky one, it is indeed worth investigating."

I nodded with a silly grin. We left Zhu Chen's house and continued pasting coded messages around the neighborhood, while also killing some zombies to complete our kill mission. There weren't many zombies in the neighborhood to begin with; we had already killed all the ones we could. The few remaining ones were probably infected people who had fled up the mountain. After pasting about twenty coded messages, we returned to the villa.
