Eleven days until the zombie outbreak
Early in the morning, we teleported directly to the largest mixed wholesale market in City C. In the end, we still did not choose to raise poultry. First, we were not sure if the mobile space was conducive to the survival of livestock. Second, we were worried that the livestock manure would pollute the entire space. Third, we were afraid that we would have to deal with the carcasses if we raised them to death. So we decided to wander around the wholesale market again to find inspiration and stock up on some supplies.
Ji Lin'an and I split up. After visiting several stores, I settled on a dried goods shop and bought 50 kilograms of each of more than ten kinds of dried goods, including dried shrimp, dried black fungus, dried mushrooms, kelp, seaweed, and Xinjiang dates. They were easy to store and didn't take up much space.
Seeing a health product store, I thought about how we might not be able to eat fresh fruits and vegetables for a long time, and we might not even get enough sun exposure. If this continues, our health will definitely suffer. So I went into the store and stocked up on a lot of all the vitamins I could find (A, B, C, D, E, F, G), and also bought several boxes of adult milk powder for calcium supplementation. Milk powder has a long shelf life, and it's good for strengthening the body and keeping you full when needed.
Feeling I'd bought enough, I strolled off to find Ji Lin'an. Just then, I saw him enter a general merchandise store. I jogged over to go in and find him, but suddenly someone called out to me. I turned around and saw my invincible ex, Zhu Chen: "Su Yi, I thought I was seeing things. What a coincidence!"
I sneered and looked at the woman standing behind Zhu Chen. She looked vaguely familiar: "I was saying that my dog kept biting my trouser leg when I went out today. So it was worried that I would run into its own kind."
Zhu Chen's face involuntarily fell, but she immediately put on a smile again: "Long time no see, your mouth is still as sassy as ever."
I scoffed, "Really? I usually speak to people in a way that suits them, whether they're human or ghost."
Zhu Chen didn't reply, but instead put his arm around the woman next to him and said, "This is my fiancée, Jiang Kexin. She graduated from Xiamen University and is an amazing cook. Are you still in S City? My father-in-law bought us a villa in S City as our wedding home. You can come to my house for dinner sometime and try my wife's cooking."
I was laughing so hard. He practically had "My wife graduated from a prestigious university, my wife's family is rich, my wife is better than you in every way" written all over his face. Just as I was about to retort, Ji Lin'an suddenly walked past Zhu Chen and the others towards me. As he passed Zhu Chen, he glanced at him from head to toe and finally gave him a contemptuous look. "Good lad, you've got guts." I took the opportunity to step forward and hug Ji Lin'an: "Honey, why did you take so long? My feet are killing me. Can you carry me in a bit?"
Although Ji Lin'an looked at me with doting eyes, I could feel him shiver. I pulled him and turned to Zhu Chen, saying, "Let me introduce you. This is my husband, Ji Lin'an. He graduated from Harvard and owns a company that's about to go public. Coincidentally, my mother-in-law also bought us a villa in S City. We usually have a chef at home, so we won't be eating at your house. Your wife must be tired from cooking and washing dishes. You can come to our house for dinner sometime. Zhu Chen, I remember my mom saying that daughters-in-law of the Zhu family shouldn't eat at the table." "Those who demand a bride price are people who sold their daughters in the old days. Your wife's family has already bought you a house, so you should let her eat at the table. Listen to me, don't skimp on anything you can, especially the bride price. Back then, when my family didn't have money to buy your family a house for your brother's wedding, we asked for a 50,000 yuan bride price. Even our mother said we were selling our daughter. Your father-in-law is so generous. You should at least scrape together 1 million yuan for the bride price. No matter how you look at it, it's a win-win situation. 1 million yuan gets you a big villa and a free nanny... oh wait, a free wife, ptooey, a valuable wife."
The more I talked, the darker Zhu Chen's face became. His fiancée's face was even darker than Zhu Chen's. I don't know when she let go of the hand that was holding my arm. Ji Lin'an suddenly squatted down in front of me. I was wondering what he was going to do when Ji Lin'an patted my back: "Wife, come on up, I'll carry you back. Our chef said he made your favorite braised pork."
I looked at Zhu Chen and said, "I haven't introduced this person to you yet."
Ji Lin'an: "I'm not interested in knowing. Hurry up and get on, my legs are numb from squatting."
I suppressed my unrestrained laughter, climbed onto Ji Lin'an's back, waved goodbye to Zhu Chen, and only when I could no longer see Zhu Chen and the others did I pat Ji Lin'an down and give him a thumbs up: "Not bad, bro, you're quite the actor. If you were a girl, I would have pounced on you and kissed you twice."
Ji Lin'an didn't say anything, but slowly covered his face and mouth with his hands. I slapped him in annoyance. I checked the time and there was almost half an hour left before it was time to return. Ji Lin'an called a van and took us, along with the goods, to a nearby factory. He found a secluded spot without surveillance cameras and had the driver unload the goods. After the driver left, I quickly packed the goods into my mobile storage space and got home at the last minute.
When I got home, I collapsed onto the sofa. My legs were really sore after walking around for more than an hour. Ji Lin'an sat down too, half-lying down with his eyes half-closed. I smiled and asked him, "Are you really not interested in knowing who that person was? Aren't you curious why I lied?"
Ji Lin'an rested one arm on her forehead, opened her eyes and looked at me: "He's just an ex-boyfriend."
How can you be so sure?!
I sat up from the sofa in shock and moved closer to Ji Lin'an: "Do you really need to lie to a male friend who has a girlfriend to satisfy your vanity? Unless you have a grudge against him, who else besides your ex-boyfriend is worth telling such a big lie? Aren't you afraid he'll expose you?"
I was indignant. Why do you keep emphasizing lying? It makes me seem like I'm vain. I said irritably, "Yes, yes, you're so smart. You guessed right. I lied because I just couldn't swallow this insult."
