Chapter 6 Changing the Plan

I asked, "Can you see what it is?"

Ji Lin'an shook his head: "There's no label on the box, so I can't tell what it is."

I tried hard to read the words on the truck: "Check if there's a logo on the side of the truck."

Ji Lin'an squinted for a while and said, "It should be. I think I've seen the name before at the wholesale market in City C. It's for wedding favors."

I nodded: "If it's a souvenir, then it's some candy, peanuts, and melon seeds. It looks like there are about ten boxes, but it won't last two months. There might be other things too."

We continued to observe for over an hour without seeing Zhu Chen and the others come out. Ji Lin'an and I took turns keeping watch. Finally, four hours later, we saw another truck appear at the gate, carrying several boxes of fruit and local specialty pastries. The quantity seemed to be just enough for them to eat for two months, together with the previous gifts. After confirming that there were no other supplies, Ji Lin'an and I prepared to go down and try to meet Zhu Chen.

Just as I arrived at Zhu Chen's door, I saw Zhu Chen and Jiang Kexin coming out with bags, looking like they were about to leave: "Oh my, isn't this Jiang's son-in-law? What are you doing here?"

Zhu Chen noticed my somewhat unpleasant expression and said, "What a small world! What are you all doing here? Did you come here specifically to check out my wedding room?"

I rolled my eyes at Zhu Chen: "We're not that bored. Your wedding room is here? It's really bad luck to have a neighbor like you."

Zhu Chen looked behind us and asked, "You guys live here too?"

I snorted coldly and didn't answer Zhu Chen. The more I mocked him, the more he would try to reveal something to save face. Ji Lin'an analyzed this very thoroughly.

Zhu Chen was a little unhappy, but she could only pretend: "Since it's such a coincidence, bring your husband to my wedding in a month, at the Jinhao Hotel."

When we were preparing for our wedding, I mentioned to him that I wanted to hold the ceremony at Jinhao Hotel because Jinhao has a starry sky-themed banquet hall. However, Zhu Chen thought Jinhao was too expensive and that I wasn't worthy of the money his family had spent. He was definitely saying that on purpose to provoke me.

I replied happily, "No problem! What's the date and which hall? We'll definitely be there."

Zhu Chen sneered: "October 1st, Starry Night Banquet Hall. No rush, I'll send you the wedding invitation in a few days."

I cupped my hands in greeting and said, "Alright, then I wish you a long and happy life together, sharing joys and sorrows."

After saying that, I took Ji Lin'an home.

I sat on the sofa and thought for a moment: "Have you thought of a way to stop them from moving in? The wedding candies have all arrived, and they'll probably come over in the next day or two to give them out."

Ji Lin'an poured himself a glass of water and held it in his hand: "On the day the outbreak occurred, I pretended to call the Jinhao Hotel to trick them into going there."

"If they go there, they'll be exposed."

Ji Lin'an took a sip of water: "You'll find out then."

I suspect Ji Lin'an is plotting something, but I have no proof.
