Chapter 7 Dealing with the Ex-Boyfriend

Following the instructions from Xiaobing, I checked Ji Lin'an's location. I could see him; he was nearby. I felt relieved. Zooming in on the map showed he was only 50 meters away. I followed the location to Ji Lin'an's location, but still couldn't find him. Even though our map icons were overlapping, I subconsciously looked up. In front of me was a dilapidated house, seemingly an old building from decades ago. I found the stairs and tiptoed up. Just as my and Ji Lin'an's icons were about to overlap again, I stared at the door of the house and pressed my ear to it. There was no sound. I took out my pistol and held it to my ear like in a police movie. I gently knocked on the door twice. No response. I whispered, "Ji Lin'an." No response. My heart was pounding, and I started to feel nauseous, wanting to cry. I felt terrible, with a strange feeling that I was about to lose Ji Lin'an.

I couldn't think straight anymore. I walked to the door, backed up to the edge of the corridor, braced my foot against the wall, and kicked it with all my might. I sprang into the door, smashing it open. I steadied myself and immediately raised my pistol, scanning the room. I saw Ji Lin'an lying on the floor, covered in blood. Without thinking, I grabbed him and teleported back home. Ji Lin'an was unconscious but still breathing. I struggled to lift him and lay him on the sofa. I immediately entered my teleportation space and retrieved a large quantity of first-aid supplies. I used scissors to cut open Ji Lin'an's clothes. He had a nearly 10-centimeter-long wound on his lower back, bleeding profusely. I frantically grabbed a bottle of alcohol and poured it on the wound, washing away the blood. Only then did I see a transparent, reflective object about 1 centimeter from the wound. I touched it; it was glass.

I forced back my trembling hands and unstoppable tears, opened my phone, and searched for first aid tutorials for wounds. After quickly reading through them, I calmed myself down, put on medical gloves, disinfected the gloves and the wound, and prepared. Then, I used two fingers to gently pry open Ji Lin'an's skin along the edge of the glass shard, grasped the glass fragment, and carefully pulled it out little by little. The glass was completely removed, and blood gushed out the moment it was taken out. I grabbed handfuls of cotton and gauze to plug Ji Lin'an's wound, but the gauze and cotton were soaked through in no time. Looking at the glass shard on the ground, about seven or eight centimeters long, I knew it had definitely pierced his internal organs. I was helpless and could only change the gauze and cotton again and again, watching the color drain from Ji Lin'an's face. I continued searching online for solutions, but all the results told me to go to the hospital for cleaning, hemostasis, and surgery. I held Ji Lin'an until I felt his body getting colder and colder and he stopped breathing. My illness immediately became apparent.

"Master, your partner has been found to have no vital signs. I will rematch you with a partner. I'm sorry, Master, the system shows that there is no one available to match with. You can find other lucky people to join the match, otherwise you will not be able to complete the apocalypse mission. Your apocalypse privileges will expire in three days."

I couldn't accept Ji Lin'an's departure. I knew that I couldn't survive alone in this apocalypse. Even if I survived on supplies, I would only die when the supplies ran out. I quietly leaned against the sofa and looked at Ji Lin'an, whose face was pale as he rested his head on my lap. When I felt his stiffness, I got up and used all my strength to drag him back to his room.

I lost my skills, and overwhelmed with grief, I forgot to take the supplies out of my movement space. After surviving on these meager supplies for a month, while trying to find more, I died once again...
