In front of the city gate, a cavalryman raised his spear and swung it hard. Then, the clear sound of a horn broke the silence of the early morning.
With the sound of trumpets, chariots one after another began to roll forward.
That's right! Chariot!
In the ancient Egyptian military organization, the use of cavalry was quite rare, and was replaced by the famous chariot troops.
The chariots were made of a light wooden frame with copper-inlaid wheels covered with iron nails to prevent them from slipping when speeding on gravel.
Two tall war horses were pulled in front of the carriage, wearing simple leather armor, their long tails fluttering in the wind, and hot air constantly coming out of their noses.
There were two soldiers standing on the chariot, one holding the reins to control the direction; the other holding a bow and arrow or a javelin to carry out long-range attacks, or to deliver a fatal blow when the enemy approached.
Chariots are not only flexible and fast, but can also tear through enemy formations with a charge on a chaotic battlefield.
A brand new flag symbolizing the desert and the Nile River was hung on the chariot frame.
Even though the soldiers driving the vehicles were standing on the constantly shaking frame, they remained as steady as a rock.
As the car passed through the people on both sides of the city gate, several exclamations were heard from the back of the crowd.
"It's the chariots! Holy Pharaoh has sent out the strongest chariot force in Holy Egypt!"
Some people prayed softly or clenched their fists, watching the convoys disappear into the distance.
"This chariot is really ordinary."
After hearing what they said, Lin Ke simply called up the civilization panel.
The words [Mariano Chariot Shooter] are very eye-catching among them.
This is Egypt's unique unit, and in Civilization VI, it replaces the standard light cavalry unit.
[Mariano Chariot Archer] Moves faster than standard horse chariot units. Unlike traditional melee cavalry, it can perform ranged attacks and is easier to obtain and play a role in the early stages.
Lin Ke knew very well that if he could have the [Marianu Chariot Shooter] now, he would probably be able to kill all the thousands of barbarians who came to reinforce with this unit!
Because the range of the [Marianu Chariot Archer] is as long as two blocks. In this world, this distance almost catches up with the range of the slingshot.
"[Marianu Chariot Shooter]. Requirements: [Wheel], [Animal Husbandry]."
However, it will probably take some time to build this unit.
It seems that we have to put the construction of [Marianu Chariot Archer] on the agenda after we finish studying [Bronze Casting].
Lin Ke frowned slightly, then shifted his attention to the army below.
The chariot team gradually accelerated, and the spear-wielding soldiers adjusted their posture from time to time, their eyes always fixed on the horizon ahead.
"All troops, listen up! Get ready to march!" Kamul's voice resounded throughout the square, inspiring everyone like a horn.
"yes!"
The response of hundreds of soldiers was like a tsunami. The chariots and infantry shouted in unison: "Fight for the Holy Pharaoh! Let the enemy tremble in fear! May the glory of the Holy Pharaoh be with us!"
As they began to step out of the city gate, the people had already gathered on both sides of the road.
“May the Holy Pharaoh, the God of the Desert and the Nile protect them and allow them to return safely.”
"Look, son! This is the chariot of our Holy Egypt!"
An old man whispered to his son beside him.
The [Masters of Heka] walked out slowly from the city gate. They were wearing black robes with their hems swaying slightly, as if an invisible force was surrounding their bodies.
Although they didn't glance at anyone, the crowd was already silent.
The soldiers stood erect, the farmers stopped their work, and even the noisy vendors put down their goods.
No one spoke.
Every pair of eyes was fixed on the figure of [Master Heka], with respect as if they were seeing a god.
Even Kamul, who was already accustomed to all kinds of wind and waves, couldn't help but pause for a moment when his eyes swept over Master Heka.
…
Soon, the army of Holy Egypt encountered the barbarian troops in a canyon on the only way to Holy Egypt.
As soon as they saw the hundred-man army of Holy Egypt, a look of contempt appeared in the eyes of the barbarian soldiers.
"Egyptians! Look at all these colorful things. Are you here to visit the market?"
"Leave their cars and their shiny stuff, and we'll take them for reward!"
"Brothers, let's show them what a real warrior is. Capture a few of them alive and take them back to trade for wine and meat!"
They pointed their spears at the distant Egyptian chariots and Master Heka, grinning and shouting mockingly at each other.
The barbarian soldiers, dragging crude axes and broken spears, rushed forward in a mess, like a rolling mud.
Their roars were filled with primitive frenzy, and the charge was unstoppable from the start, forcing the Holy Egyptian infantry back a short distance.
However, they had no distinction between front and back, no formation, and had no idea how to organize an effective offensive.
The chariots of Holy Egypt quickly adjusted their formation in response to the command. They bypassed the area where the barbarians were most densely populated and circled from both wings.
The infantry relied on the cover of the tanks and calmly launched a counterattack.
The valley was narrow, and the barbarians' large force had difficulty deploying. The team was squeezed into pieces, and some people even tripped over each other.
The chariots of the Holy Egypt galloped across the highlands, and the arrows shot by the soldiers on the chariots pierced through the chaotic barbarian formations.
As the attack deepened, the barbarians' rough charges gradually became disorganized, and their originally hoarse shouts of killing were replaced by cries of pain one after another.
The troops of Holy Egypt became more and more stable as the battle went on, and gradually took control of the rhythm of the battlefield.
