Jacob rubbed his eyes, got up quickly, and greeted him with a smile: "Oh, your Excellency got up so early!"
"I'll take you there right away!"
He clapped his hands and called two followers, and led Remheb to the office, muttering along the way: "Your Excellency, you don't know that this city was not well managed before. When the Hebrews occupied here, they messed up everything."
"Therefore, these records are bound to have some omissions and confusions. Please bear with me!"
Remheb just waved his hand: "It's okay, it's okay."
When he reached the office, Remheb was about to open the door when he heard a cry from outside: "Fire! Fire!"
Elder Jacob's face changed, and he ran out, shouting, "Quick, get some water and sand! Don't let the fire get bigger!"
"hurry up!"
Remheb followed him out and saw thick smoke coming out of the wooden shed next to the secretarial office. Several soldiers came hurriedly carrying buckets and scooping up sand.
“Sizzle!”
“Crash!”
The scene was in chaos.
Elder Jacob stood there, waving his hands and commanding: "Throw water, put out the fire quickly!"
Remheb looked at Elder Jacob's reaction. The old guy's voice was urgent and his face was full of anxiety, as if he was really worried.
It doesn't look like acting.
But the fire came at such a coincidence.
Soon, the fire was finally put out, and Remheb walked into the office, where only the floor was charred.
The papyri and parchments on the table had turned to ashes, and the records on the shelves were gone.
He asked Jacob in a deep voice: "Elder, what's going on?"
Jacob sighed and said helplessly, "How strange! How could it suddenly catch fire? Oh my God, all those precious parchments are burned!"
"My Lord, what should we do?"
He spread out his hands with a look of regret, and continued to instruct his followers to clean up the mess, muttering: "Hurry up and look for any remaining documents. Don't keep the adults waiting for too long!"
The soldiers gathered together and searched the charred ground.
Remheb didn't rush to speak, he just looked around.
Just then he saw a small fragment of papyrus.
The fragment was on the side of the door, stuck in the gap.
Remheb could tell at a glance that it had been accidentally caught in the door while moving documents and then torn off.
He bent down to pick it up, and saw a few lines of crooked words written on it.
“…the holy pharaoh controls Egypt.”
"...whoever kills the Holy Pharaoh will reach the Holy Land."
