Elisha sat quietly in the corner, observing how David handled various matters.
He noticed that David treated the commoner representatives more cordially than the nobles and was more interested in food supply issues than in the deployment of the army.
In the evening, work came to a halt and David finally had a moment of leisure.
He walked to the balcony and looked out over the city that would soon become the capital.
"Do you know why I brought you here?"
David asked softly to Elisha who was standing behind him.
"Because... I'm a future candidate for king?"
Elisha answered uncertainly.
David shook his head. “No, because you have to witness the process with your own eyes.”
"Elisha, a true ruler does not sit on a high seat and issue orders, but understands the needs of every inch of land and every citizen."
"Just like that great leader did."
He turned to Elisha and said, "Elisha, starting tomorrow, you will come with me as we tour the villages and cities, visit different areas, and listen to the voices of the people of Hebron."
"This is more important than any court etiquette."
