Chapter 117 The Old Man
Even under the watchful eyes of energy beings, Zhou Jiu was still happy. The humans of Ancient Blue Star were still alive, so she had hope of returning home.
When Zhou Jiu arrived inside, he saw several emaciated people being herded into a very simple laboratory, where they were busy working.
After Zhou Jiu was pushed inside, the energy creature sank back down from the ground.
Zhou Jiu watched as the others bustled about, their expressions dazed. No one seemed to notice the extra person. Zhou Jiu's face darkened.
Zhou Jiu followed an elderly woman and assisted her while she repaired things, silently handing her tools.
After a long while, the gaunt man finally looked at her. "You studied mechanics?"
"yes."
"Cough cough, not bad, not bad, keep learning, at least there's still hope." The old man continued installing and adjusting.
Looking at the mechanical structure, Zhou Jiu asked in confusion, "This isn't how a starship works. How can it send energy creatures away?"
The old man remained silent, while another old man beside him seemed to have heard something amusing. "Send them away? Wishful thinking! The Earth's magnetic field has undergone a huge anomaly and is still increasing. The fact that the starships we built back then could send the younger generation away from Earth was already the greatest scientific achievement. Why send these creatures away? Trapping them to death on this blue planet is what our generation can do."
"Baby, why are you here? Apart from the Zhou family's Xuan Masters, we relocated the last batch of young people more than ten years ago. Who are you?"
Zhou Jiu continued with his work, puzzled, and said, "But this is feasible. Energy beings come from space, and humans are not their food. If we let them leave Ancient Blue Star, wouldn't we be able to live better?"
The old man paused for a moment, then said, "Don't talk, just learn properly."
Qi Qi emerged from the ground and perched on Zhou Jiu's head. The old woman remained silent, continuing her work. After a long while, she noticed the interaction between Zhou Jiu and the creature above his head. "Is it your spirit?"
Qi Qi had already disappeared, and ordinary people couldn't see her. Zhou Jiu showed a hint of surprise.
"Can you see Him?"
"In our struggle against energy beings, in order to better identify who the leader is, the Zhou family's esoteric masters opened the third eye for each of us, and we can all see these energy-formed beings."
"But most people wouldn't think of Him as a spirit. Are you very familiar with the Zhou family?" Zhou Jiu continued to methodically hand the tools to the old man.
"Little one, what's your name?" the old man asked instead of answering Zhou Jiu's question.
"Zhou Jiu."
"Zhou Jiu... Zhou Jiu? Chi Zi, come and see her." The old man suddenly called out in another direction.
Zhou Jiu was grabbed by the sleeve by the old man, and Chi Zi, who had been called over, also moved towards Zhou Jiu.
"Hey, it looks a bit like her, a bit like Su Su's face. Look, she looks well-behaved too, and her eyes even resemble Mr. Zhou's, very bright. Wasn't Xiao Jiu already sent to the Central Star System? Who's impersonating her?"
"Who...are you?" Zhou Jiu looked at them, they seemed to know her well, Mr. Zhou, "Is the Zhou Qian you're talking about my father?"
"Zhou Qian is your father? Who told you that?" The old man's joy faded slightly, and he seemed a little surprised to hear this.
“He’s my father. I’ve known that since I was a child.” Or is there some other secret involved? A hint of doubt appeared in Zhou Jiu’s eyes.
"Stop chatting for now, let's finish this before sunset," the old man next to me reminded me.
Suppressing her doubts, Zhou Jiu began to busy herself. It wasn't until a huge commotion started around her that she realized why she had to wait until before sunset.
