Chapter 118 "Mysterious Maiden" First Battle
The afterglow of the setting sun streamed through the window, and bursts of flying energy symbols suddenly descended from the sky, blasting up the entire ground and lifting the entire laboratory where Zhou Jiu was located. Lines of runes stretched the earth out into the distance.
"Rescue is here, let's go!"
Zhou Jiu looked up at this magnificent scene. The rune array made the entire sky shine with brilliant colors. For a long, long time afterward, Zhou Jiu never forgot this moment.
The old man clicked a button in the laboratory, and the entire laboratory began to dismantle, revealing the floor. The traction wires were pulled outwards and thrown onto a truck.
Zhou Jiu stood on the truck, his body instantly shifting to the side. He removed the mecha button from his neck, held it in his hand, and entered the "Mysterious Maiden".
With a "bang," a strange beast flying from the side of the truck was directly repelled to the other side by Zhou Jiu's flying cannon.
As more and more alien beasts appeared around them, Zhou Jiu sat in the cockpit, his mental energy connected to the entire mech. Following the amplifiers of the sensor mech, Zhou Jiu discovered the energy creature hidden at the very back.
After "Xuan Nu" worked with the rescuers to strike the monster, she quickly ran across the wasteland towards the monster's rear.
Wherever Zhou Jiu piloted his sensor-equipped mecha, he left only a blurry afterimage.
The battle between the Xuan Nu mecha and the energy creature in the distance caused the entire desert to tremble. The sky turned yellow and dark, and with the wind on the desert, visibility continued to decrease. The roars of the alien beasts gradually spread to all directions.
"Wow, what is this? It's so cool."
"Mecha, this is a mecha."
"Retreat quickly."
"She hasn't arrived yet."
"The mechs can catch up quickly, let's retreat first."
“Leave a runic mark.”
Zhou Jiu stared sternly at the energy creature. The energy blade seemed to have a beneficial effect on it. Having studied at the energy creature school, Zhou Jiu quickly discerned the fleeting pleasure the creature felt when it encountered the energy blade and released its energy.
Holding the energy blade, Zhou Jiu changed his attack method and began using runes—a type of rune that alters and dispels energy bodies by changing their magnetic fields. Since they all belong to energy, they must have some effect. Zhou Jiu believed that no living being is invincible.
The truck drove further and further away, while Zhou Jiu fought the energy creature. Sweat beaded on Zhou Jiu's forehead, and his face was somewhat pale. These ordinary energy-dispelling runes did not cause any real harm to it. If this continued, it would be the one to lose sooner or later.
On the display screen, the truck drove further and further away, gradually leaving the area. Zhou Jiu jumped back and continued to carve runes on the ground with his energy blade.
The energy creature charged forward. Zhou Jiu's eyes were serious. After making the final stroke, he clicked the speed-up button and instantly left the battlefield.
The rune array behind her, combined with the lingering effects of the runes she had previously inscribed, produced bursts of explosions, detonating the remaining energy in the surrounding area. Even if these couldn't harm the energy creatures, they were enough to give these strange beasts a hard time.
Following the rune mark, Zhou Jiu chased for a long distance before finally spotting the truck. He ran and jumped toward it, and as he landed, he jumped out of the mecha cabin, hung the mecha space button around his neck, flipped over, and stood up from a half-squat position, using his hands to support himself on the ground.
"Hey, you were really cool just now. Where are you from? I've never seen you at the base before."
A man with dyed red hair emerged from the front of the truck and shouted at Zhou Jiu.
"A base? A settlement for the remaining humans? Are all the humans who survived on ancient Blue Star there?" Zhou Jiu asked in quick succession.
"Hey, I can't really answer all these questions you're asking. I don't even know where you came from. Besides, these energy creatures are good at transforming, so how would I know if you're human or ghost? Let's talk about it when we meet the leader."
Zhou Jiu didn't hear a reply, so he sat down and adjusted his mental energy.
"I'm talking to you. Where are you from?"
Zhou Jiu glanced up and saw that half of the red-haired guy's body was sticking out of the window, and gave a soft reminder: "Watch your head."
Red Hair climbed out of the window, used Xuanli to step on the runes and jump out, landing in the truck bed.
Zhou Jiu recalled the runes that the red-haired man had stepped on, but didn't understand the principle behind them, so he asked, "How was that rune you stepped on just now drawn?"
"It comes out whenever I want it to; why do I need to draw it?"
Zhou Jiu frowned. "Don't we need to channel our mental energy into the outside world and then draw it?"
"Mental power? What's that?" Red Hair scratched his head in confusion. "I used to draw on paper with a pen when I was a kid, but later I could draw it just by thinking about it with my spiritual power."
Zhou Jiu looked puzzled. The old man patted her on the shoulder and said, "Xiao Jiu, there's no rush."
