Lu Mingming's tomato and egg stir-fry was a feast for the eyes. The fragrant eggs were coated with layers of tomatoes, and the plump, trembling eggs and the sweet and sour tomatoes dominated the porcelain plate.
In comparison, Orannell's cooking skills seemed far inferior. In a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, the eggs and tomatoes were charred to varying degrees, and there was clearly too much water added, with the overflowing juice covering half of the plate.
It looks a bit unpalatable.
Lu Mingming was touched by Orannar's small gift, and she couldn't help but ask seriously, "Did you really make this?"
"What are you saying?"
Before Orannal could speak, Aunt Shi interrupted.
"I watched him do it with my own eyes. Don't worry, he only received my guidance and I didn't interfere with a single step. I don't want to say more about his skill level. He's a kid who grew up in the league since he was a child."
For the first time, Orannal had no room for rebuttal and carefully pushed the plate in front of Lu Mingming, moving it little by little in front of him.
"...Would you like to try it?"
Lu Mingming, of course, did not disappoint this kindness and decisively picked up his chopsticks and grabbed the nearest piece of scrambled eggs with tomatoes.
Orannal stared intently, anxiously awaiting the other's evaluation.
Even a soldier who is completely unafraid of attacking armored vehicles in large-scale battles is now trying to win the favor of a woman through his culinary skills. This would be astonishing to all of Oranar's confidants.
The first bite revealed that the eggs were overcooked, requiring careful chewing to savor, which seemed to dilute the sweet and sour taste of the tomatoes.
Lu Mingming tasted it for a moment, then finally raised her face and said, "I think it's delicious."
It's far beyond her skill level, but for a beginner, it's a pretty good start.
Aunt Shi's expression remained unchanged, as if she had expected this, and she took a step back with disdain: "The filter is indeed powerful."
Oranner relaxed slightly, but the other two were unwilling to let the matter rest.
"Speaking of cooking, I've lived in a scattered place since I was a child, so I can cook some delicious food."
Liu Yan suddenly spoke up.
"Cooking requires talent and learning ability. I believe that as the head of the research institute, Mingming should be able to teach me very well."
Morian climbed up the pole and reserved the first spot to learn the technology.
Oranner swallowed a curse that was stuck in his throat, but managed to force a stiff smile.
"If Mingming likes to eat it, I can slowly learn and improve it in the future."
"Ha ha."
Lu Mingming chuckled dryly, as if realizing how much encouragement her unintentional action had given the man opposite her, which meant she might be eating scrambled eggs with tomatoes for a long time to come.
The meal was eaten hastily.
Lu Mingming ate almost all three dishes by himself. His stomach was so full that there was no room left, and he seemed about to vomit at any moment.
Stroking his swollen belly, Lu Mingming struggled to sit up.
"Let's go for a walk to digest our food."
Aunt Shi offered suggestions upon seeing Lu Mingming's appearance.
"Next up is a parade, something you've never seen before. This parade is very interesting."
Aunt Shi took Lu Mingming's hand and introduced them.
Lu Mingming tilted her head slightly: "What kind of parade is it?"
"During each trip, we will select one lucky audience member to come to the top of the building, dress up as a bride, and throw the bouquet. This event also brings together two couples, which can be considered a kind of matchmaking in the style of the event."
The person who throws and catches the embroidered ball will have their meal free that day; this lucky draw will only happen once a day.
"You guys can all throw pom-poms now?!"
"Of course, various experts have been a great help to us. This plan is one of their suggestions. Look over there—"
Aunt Shi pointed to a tall tower in the distance. That tower was originally the one that Lu Mingming thought was the Imperial Preceptor's Tower. But at some point, another tall tower was built next to it.
It's more like a high-rise building than a tower.
The place was decorated with red and green lanterns, creating a lively atmosphere. The servant and the bride's father were both played by professional extras.
The bride had already been chosen; she was dressed in red and had her back to all the tourists.
Just from her slender figure from behind, one can tell that she is an exquisite beauty.
Lu Mingming became interested: "I'm going to go play!"
Who doesn't enjoy looking at beautiful women?
Lu Mingming didn't stand too close to the center of the crowd, but instead stood at the edge, looking up to try and get a better look at the bride.
The beautiful woman, holding a hydrangea, was eager to try it out; it was clearly her first time participating in the event.

The act of tossing the embroidered ball was as mysterious as the game of dropping a handkerchief that Lu Mingming played when he was a child. As the restaurant owner loudly counted down, the bride immediately tossed it backward.
As the ball flew down in an arc, the extras and tourists who had been crouching below for a long time suddenly stood up and crowded together, scrambling for the most precious embroidered ball.
Lu Mingming was jostled around in the crowd, originally on the edge, but somehow ended up in the center, her dress wrinkled from the jostling.
A hydrangea fell in front, causing a scramble to grab it.
"Where did it go?!"
"Where? Where?!"
"Make way, make way! I came here today expecting a free meal!!"
Standing among a group of tall men, Lu Mingming paid no attention to the embroidered ball and retreated step by step with difficulty.
I should have known better than to come and join the fun!
