Chapter 22

"If you drink this for more than ten days, you shouldn't feel any pain next time you have your period." Fu Yueli tied the mouth of the sugar bag, which contained osmanthus sugar wrapped in brown paper.

Seeing that he still had quite a few sweet-scented osmanthus candies in his bag, Shi Mingyue asked him for one more. "Give me one more. My mouth still tastes bitter after I finished it."

"No, you can't eat anymore. It's time to go to bed. Eating too much sweets at night is bad for your teeth." Fu Yueli immediately rejected her and said righteously.

Shi Mingyue wanted to say that she was no longer a child, but she felt that Fu Yueli treated her more attentively and considerately than her parents, so she had better be obedient.

After a while, the two took turns bathing in the adjacent bathroom. Summer heat makes one sweat easily. Shi Mingyue finished first, leaving behind a tank top and pants, draped with a translucent silk gauze. While the gauze was cool, her face to face with Fu Yueli made her uncomfortable, and Fu Yueli didn't know where to look.

Fu Yueli took some clean clothes and went to take a shower next door as if he was escaping in panic. His heart was in turmoil. When Shi Mingyue was wearing a thin gauze, her snow-white skin was faintly visible, and her collarbone was delicate. He felt that he could not think about it anymore. In fact, he was not ignorant of love between men and women. In the past, Lu Lingyan often said some dirty words to him and talked enthusiastically about what he saw and felt in a certain building or courtyard. It was a pity that Fu Yueli turned a deaf ear to it. No matter how much he talked about it, it was pointless, so he simply never mentioned it again. Although Fu Yueli never paid attention to him once, he did hear what Lu Lingyan said. When a man likes a woman, it is natural and they will be in harmony with each other. It's just that Mingyue is still young and simple, and the most important thing is that he doesn't know whether Mingyue likes him or not, so he can't bring himself to say it.

While Fu Yueli was showering in the next room, Shi Mingyue immediately changed into a less transparent nightgown. She had been so overwhelmed by the heat that she had actually dressed so frivolously in front of Fu Yueli. She walked to the bed and froze. She had only seen a bed when she entered, but hadn't noticed its size. It was spacious enough for one person, but it would be too cramped for two, and they might fall off if they turned over.

Shi Mingyue sighed, feeling extremely helpless. She went to bed and lay against the wall, intending to wait for Fu Yueli to come back. However, Fu Yueli's bath unexpectedly took a long time. When he returned to the room refreshed, he found that Shi Mingyue had fallen asleep. She had even changed into pajamas.

She didn't know how to describe her feelings. She still minded. In fact, she didn't like herself that much. Fu Yueli felt bitter, but she still went to the drawer of the desk to get a folding fan, gently unfolded it, sat on the bed, and fanned Master Mingyue.

A cool breeze blew and she slept even more deeply.

A few more days at most, then it's time to return to the capital. Fu Yueli fanned himself, his thoughts drifting. News of his restored sight must have reached the palace. He could well imagine the bloody chaos that would unfold. No matter what the situation, he feared nothing, his sole concern being Mingyue's safety. The moonlight shone brightly outside the window. He looked down at his sleeping wife and thought, "My name is Fu Yueli, and I'm heading to the moon, just for you."

The next day, when Shi Mingyue woke up, Fu Yueli was nowhere to be seen. After washing up, she dressed in front of the mirror. When she was putting on a white pearl earring, she tilted her head slightly and a green figure appeared in the mirror.

"Where did you go just now?" Shi Mingyue asked casually.

Fu Yueli looked at her reflection in the mirror carefully. Even without makeup, she was still as beautiful as a fairy. She replied, "I talked to my uncle and Ling Yan for a while."

"Okay, then wait for me, I'll be ready soon." Shi Mingyue quickly drew her eyebrows, put down the eyebrow pencil, stood up and said, "I'm ready, you can go have breakfast."

Fu Yueli saw that she only drew her eyebrows, without any other rouge or lipstick, but she looked as pure and beautiful as a lotus in clear water. She couldn't help but feel moved, "Have you ever seen the sea?"

"No," Shi Mingyue grew up in the inland and later eloped to Xinjiang, where there are mostly vast grasslands and deserts. She was trapped there all her life and had no idea how she had ever seen the sea.

"Then I'll take you to see the East China Sea today," Fu Yueli suggested, "but are you afraid of getting tanned? The sun on the beach is very strong. If you don't want to go, you don't have to." Women have always cherished their appearance, and women in Zhao State even consider whiteness to be beautiful.

In her previous life, Shi Mingyue had been tanned in Western Xinjiang, where the sun was very strong. After a period of not getting sun, her skin became white again. She smiled and said, "It's okay. I want to go see the sea."

After breakfast, Fu Yueli took her, Hongyin, and a male servant by carriage to the East China Sea. Lingzhou, located on the eastern border of Zhao State, borders the East China Sea, and enjoys a hot and humid climate with abundant seafood. The carriage reached the end of the road, and they had to walk the rest of the way. The sun scorched the earth, its intense sunlight blinding. Fortunately, Fu Yueli had prepared an umbrella, and he held it for Shi Mingyue. As they crossed the path, they heard the sound of waves.

It was truly beyond the reach of ordinary rivers and streams. The ocean was vast and boundless, even more azure than the sky. The waves crashed against the shore, stirring up waves like snow. Shi Mingyue was stunned by this magnificent sight for the first time, and after a long pause, she exclaimed, "How beautiful!" It truly was the vast East China Sea, with its waves reaching to the sky.

Fu Yueli looked around and saw a shiny spot on the beach, so he gave the umbrella handle to Shi Mingyue, walked over alone, squatted down and picked up the object. It was a white and yellowish shell with a shallow wavy pattern on it, which was very beautiful.

"Here you go." Fu Yueli gave the shell to Shi Mingyue.

She took the shell, which was still warm from the sun and a little hot. It was the first time she saw such a thing, and her eyes were almost shining.

"I want to pick it up too!"
