“He was probably a member of the Dawn Cult when he was alive. I don’t know why he can still use Dawn’s skills after he died, and he even followed me out of the Death Corridor,” Phil Gray explained helplessly.
Frank saw that the undead stopped attacking him and floated away from the water. His eyes were solemn. "He is definitely not simple. Even a god-level descendant cannot retain his skills after death, unless he is an immortal being."
"What? You mean the divine path or quasi-god level?" Phil Gray was slightly surprised.
“It’s impossible for a quasi-god level being to perish in the Death Corridor. I estimate he was at the god level,” Frank replied after a moment’s thought.
"That's impressive." Phil Gray looked at the undead frozen in mid-air with surprise, but he knew that if he moved, the undead would definitely follow.
But it seems he can understand me? He stopped as soon as I said I was the Holy Son.
"Now is not the time to consider these things, Mr. Frank. Besides waiting for passing ships and searching for small islands, do you have any other suggestions?"
Two-thirds of his body was submerged in the sea, which was very uncomfortable, and it seemed as if he had been in the corridor of death for several days. His stomach was rumbling, and he was also quite tired.
“Wait, let me think… could you ask the mermaid for help?” Frank said.
"What? Mermaids? How are we supposed to find them?" This sounds even less plausible than searching the surrounding islands.
"Hehe, do you have anything that can make a sound?"
Frank smiled and asked.
“Let me take a look…” Phil Gray searched the entire space but found nothing, but he noticed the branch that had been brought out of the abyss.
The spirit fire on it was dim under the sun. Although the branch was black, it seemed to be fine for making a flute. He then took out the dagger that Eli had given him earlier and quickly turned the branch into a simple, whistling shape that could produce sound.
Seems like I'm a bit clumsy? No, it must be a problem with the quality of the branches; the branches from the abyss are too dry.
"Uh, why don't you give it a try?" He coughed and tossed it to Frank.
Frank chuckled, then took it. "Only a musical maestro like me could use this."
Then a melodious tune began to play, but it sounded rather strange, unlike anything humans could appreciate.
Phil Gray frowned, wondering if it was a melody only mermaids could understand or if he was simply playing it badly.
Frank's voice seemed to have a penetrating power, capable of traversing the vast ocean and reaching distant places.
Suddenly, a wave surged up on the sea, as if something was swimming towards them.
A smug smile spread across Frank's wrinkled face, and the music in his mouth continued unabated.
This music, which seemed to mock the loneliness of the sea, actually attracted a mermaid?
Phil Gray held his breath, watching the figure leap up.
Wait a minute, this shadow that's dozens of meters long doesn't really look like a mermaid, does it?
"Oh my god!"
Phil Gray saw clearly that it was a great white shark with grayish-white skin, sharp fins, cold eyes, and sharp teeth. It seemed to have been attracted by the sound of the whistle and was swimming towards them.
"A mistake! A minor mistake!" Frank's face fell.
Phil Gray wasn't a good swimmer in the sea; at best, he could only keep himself from drowning. Now that a ferocious shark was coming, he could only desperately move in the opposite direction.
The ghost was naturally unafraid, floating beside him with an expression of watching the spectacle. He loved this human world, admiring the blue sky and sea. Although the sunlight made him uncomfortable, he wouldn't be burned because of the summoning contract.
The mindless spirits followed closely, like robots, also floating in the air.
Phil Gray was speechless.
"Perhaps you could try riding this shark to find the island?" Frank suggested with a smile. "Although there won't be a mermaid to guide you, this shark is a great mount and can reduce your energy consumption."
Phil Gray stopped, turned around, and thought the idea might work, but how to tame the shark?
The shark was charging at him, so he quickly put on ordinary white gloves and threw several Fate Blades at the shark.
The shark's massive body couldn't escape, and wound after wound appeared on its body, staining the sea surface with red blood.
The flying blades could injure the shark, but they didn't stop it from attacking; instead, they fueled its ferocity. The shark increased its speed and lunged at him.
However, even a god-given being of such high caliber is no pushover, especially since Phil Gray has the Death Stone to replenish his energy at any time. He leaped up, attempting to straddle the shark.
Normally, the shark could easily dodge it, but the power of fate on the Fate Blade reduced its luck to the extreme. Its body convulsed, and it lost control of its direction, allowing Phil Gray to successfully sit on its back.
The shark was too big. Phil Gray struggled to get close to the shark's fin and grabbed it tightly. The shark rolled around, and he was submerged in the water one moment and then lifted up with it the next.
"Tsk tsk tsk, that's too pitiful. Let me help you out~" Frank, influenced by the contract, couldn't bear to watch any longer. He raised his hand, a black light flashed, and the shark actually quieted down.
"What kind of skill is this? Why didn't you use it sooner?" Phil Gray panted as he rested on the shark's body.
Moreover, if he hadn't been there, and if he hadn't had to conceal the identities of the other chosen ones, he would have used all sorts of skills without restraint.
"Hmm... I just wanted to see you grow, to rely on your own strength. Fortunately, although this shark is large, its soul is fragile and easy to control. Wait a moment..."
The ghost's body emitted another burst of light, and the shark's enormous eyes became completely empty. "Alright, now it will follow me. We need to hurry and find land, otherwise you won't be able to control this shark after the day of summoning ends."
Phil Gray looked at him questioningly. "I have the Death Stone, so I'm not afraid of the depletion of divine power. I can just summon you again after you leave, right?" He then curled his lips into a smile. "Don't you want to enjoy the sunshine in this world?"
“Well, you’re right.” Frank stroked his non-existent beard. “I’ve accepted the contract to become your partner. Next time you want to summon me, just say my name silently, and I’ll hear you.”
“That’s good.” Phil Gray nodded.
On the deep blue sea, a man sat on a white shark, while a ghost floated above him, followed by a strangely-looking undead. They swam further and further away until they disappeared into the horizon.
