Led by Elder Mi, Phil Gray and his companions waited quietly before the temple's magnificent gates.
A sacred yet tense atmosphere permeated the surrounding air, as if the entire island was holding its breath, anticipating the moment that was about to arrive.
After an unknown amount of time, the black abyss that had always shrouded the temple suddenly seemed to have been torn open by an invisible giant hand.
They looked up and saw a figure emerge from the crack, arriving before them in the blink of an eye. As he descended, the crack in the sky quietly closed as if it had never existed.
The man was indeed as Elder Mi had described, wearing a dark purple robe with a wide hat that completely obscured his face, leaving only a mysterious aura lingering in the air.
Elder Mi trembled with excitement. He almost ran forward on his knees, his head repeatedly touching the ground to express his endless respect for this savior.
"Savior, you have come!"
The savior helped Elder Mi up and then tossed him a large cloth bag, saying, "This contains supplies for the next ten years."
As usual, the bag contained hundreds of high-grade space stones, each filled with supplies. This was the island's hope for survival over the next ten years. Although it was impossible for every islander to receive supplies, it gave them more hope of surviving.
The savior's voice was deep and powerful, yet it also revealed a hint of the vicissitudes of time.
His words carried a heavy sense of helplessness: "After this, I probably won't come again."
Elder Mi's face was immediately filled with terror and grief. His voice trembled and was filled with despair: "Are you going to abandon us?" He clutched the cloth bag tightly, as if it were his only lifeline.
His hands, gripping the cloth bag, trembled uncontrollably. In fact, the people on their island had all wondered what would happen if the savior didn't come one day. But they never expected him to come so quickly. Had they done something to offend him?
"No, my lifespan is nearing its end, and I fear I will not live to see the next ten years," the savior sighed.
Then he turned around and looked at the group of people from Dawn: "Are you outsiders? Do you want to ask me how to get out? Unfortunately, I have no way to take you out."
He has said this to many people over the past three hundred years, and he doesn't want to explain it anymore.
Ignoring Elder Mi's weeping behind him, he turned to leave. Elder Gran and the knights rushed forward to stop him, but the man's figure was like a ghost, and even the elders who had been demoted to godhood could not touch a single hem of his clothes.
Seeing this, Phil Gray quickly asked, "Senior, you're a member of the Dark Cult, aren't you? What's the connection between this place suddenly being shrouded in darkness a thousand years ago and the disappearance of the Children of Night a thousand years ago?"
Upon hearing this, the Savior's body trembled violently. His gaze instantly locked onto Phil Gray, and a powerful aura erupted from him, as if to crush the entire world. In a flash, he appeared in front of Phil Gray, one hand gripping his collar tightly, his voice filled with danger: "What do you know?"
A powerful aura swept over him, and Phil Gray felt a sense of crisis. This was the first time he had ever felt that someone could threaten his life at any moment. His heart pounded, and his intuition told him that the person in front of him was definitely above the level of a god descended from heaven!
Could it be a god-level or even quasi-god-level chosen one?
Elder Glen and the others watched the Savior's movements intently. "Let him go!"
The man ignored everyone else and showed no intention of letting go.
"Please calm down, senior. I'm just speculating; I don't have any concrete evidence," Phil Gray reassured him. "The strange phenomena on this island couldn't have happened without the power of a god. I'm guessing it's the power of some god—the Prophet of the Day, the God of Death, or the Child of Night are all possibilities. And since it suddenly formed a thousand years ago, which happens to be the time when the Child of Night disappeared, I feel that this place is inextricably linked to the power of the Child of Night."
"As for why you can come and go freely here, I guess it's because you possess divine power originating from the Children of Night, right? You are a follower of the Dark Night Cult, and your level should be quite high, which is why you can do this."
The hand gripping his collar loosened, and the Savior said, "You guessed right, I am indeed a member of the Dark Night Cult. But what good does knowing that do? You still can't leave this island. In the past three hundred years, many of the Dark Night's people have ended up here. I couldn't even help them, so how can I help you get out?"
He sneered, flicked his sleeves, and prepared to leave again.
“No, we came here to solve this problem forever. You just said you can no longer help them, but what will happen to the hundreds of thousands of people here if you give up? Are we going to let most of them starve to death and return to the level of three hundred years ago before you came? Even so, they will have to struggle endlessly in this darkness. Can you bear to do that?”
Phil Gray asked loudly.
The savior said sarcastically, "I'm about to die myself, how can I care about them? As for you, what solutions do you have?"
“Senior, we are from the Church of Dawn. I am the Holy Son of the Church of Dawn, this is an elder of our divine rank, and these are our knights. The Prophet of the Day sent down a prophecy, instructing us to bring light to this island. We have come according to the will of the gods and are confident that we can find a solution. However, we need you to tell us the detailed cause of this place.” Phil Gray said sincerely, using some embellishment to make the other party believe that they had not wandered in by mistake but had come specifically for this purpose, thus increasing their credibility.
The Savior was silent for a moment, his gaze lingering on Phil Gray for a while before turning to Elder Mi, where he saw the pleading and expectation in his eyes. Finally, he sighed and said, "Very well, I'll believe you for now."
Perhaps it was the impending end of his life that stirred up the resentment deep within him. He looked up at the unfathomable black sky and, for the first time, revealed the secrets that had been buried in his heart for many years:
“One day a thousand years ago, when I was still wandering in the Dark Night Kingdom, I felt that the power of our god, the Son of Night, suddenly became extremely weak. Immediately afterwards, the Dark Night Kingdom shook violently, and a corner of the kingdom where I was located shattered with a bang. Many divine messengers fell to the mortal world with this fragment of the kingdom, and I was one of them.”
Once those favored by the gods reach the divine level, they will choose to go to the divine kingdom of the corresponding god and become divine messengers serving the god. Phil Gray knew this, but he never expected that the divine kingdom would one day be shattered!
"When the divine kingdom shattered, the divine messengers who fell to the mortal realm were all severely injured. In the end, all of them died except for me. I was the only one who awoke after nearly seven hundred years in a deep sleep. After that, I searched for traces of the fragments of the divine kingdom on the continent of Ver, until I discovered this island. It turns out that the fragments of the divine kingdom fell onto this island and are gradually merging with it, forming an independent space. That's why the island is forever dark, because this is the divine kingdom of the Children of Night!"
"So this is how it is..." Phil Gray never expected it to turn out this way.
"So, do you have a solution? The reason I can come and go freely here is because I am a Dark Night Chosen One of the Divine Path level. I am naturally capable of living in the Dark Night Divine Kingdom," the Savior calmly countered.
Phil Gray pursed his lips, feeling a sense of despair at his own earlier confidence. How was he supposed to resolve the matter of the divine kingdom?
Igniting light in the dark realm of the gods? Is the prophet of day playing with himself?
Do I really have to lead everyone to risk their lives to make lamp oil?
"Thinking of the suffering that the power of the night has brought to the people on these islands, I feel very guilty. Over the past three hundred years, I have tried many ways to remove the fragments of the divine kingdom from this island, but I have not been able to do it. Perhaps only the master of the divine kingdom, the son of the night, can do it? So I can only do my best to search for supplies outside to make up for the debt that the night owes them."
The savior continued, his voice filled with pain and remorse.
He shook his head, looked at the group of people from Dawn, and sighed, "Come with me, I'll try one last time."
As the savior finished speaking, a powerful force of darkness enveloped them, and their figures vanished from the spot. When they reappeared, they were in a strange and mysterious place.
“Here you can clearly see the fragments of the Kingdom of Night, which is now the core of this island’s independent space,” the Savior explained.
Phil Gray recalled what the apostate leader had once said: every independent space is maintained by a core.
The core of that town that defies age is the scales of fate, while the core of this place is a fragment of the Kingdom of Night.
His gaze searched carefully in the darkness, and suddenly a dazzling galaxy flashed before his eyes. It was so bright and beautiful, like a ribbon floating above their heads.
"Is this a fragment of the Dark Night Kingdom?"
