Chapter 207 The Reappearance of Light

"yes."

After answering their questions, the savior looked reverently at the fragment of the divine kingdom. He placed his hands on his chest, knelt down, and said, "Great Son of Night, please allow me to reclaim your lost divine kingdom for you!"

Then, he slowly raised his hands, his fingertips trembling slightly in the air, and began to draw a series of mysterious symbols.

These symbols seemed to come alive, shimmering faintly in the dark sky, forming a dazzling galaxy and moonlit sea, flying towards the fragments.

His lips trembled slightly, as if he were softly chanting a sacred hymn to the gods, so holy and devout.

However, when his divine power enveloped the fragment of the divine kingdom, the fragment, like an unruly child, resisted his power. In an instant, the brilliant galaxy surged like a raging torrent, churning and tumbling in the dark space.

The savior's hands trembled, as if bearing the weight of the entire world.

Unwilling to give up, he continued to sketch out complex symbols, attempting to tame the star-like fragments with his last breath.

However, fate repeated the pattern that had been woven over three hundred years. His divine power shattered in mid-air, like fireworks exploding in the night sky, vanishing in an instant!

In everyone's eyes, the savior's body seemed to have been struck by an invisible hammer, and he suddenly fell to the ground. The fragment of the divine kingdom mischievously circled above his head, as if mocking his overestimation of his abilities.

Even divine beings at the level of gods are helpless against the fragments of the divine kingdom!

Phil Gray stepped forward and helped him up. After the savior's attempt failed, he looked unusually tired, a weakness that came from the depths of his soul.

"You see? I've tried countless times over the past three hundred years, but it's always the same result. Don't hold onto any more hope. With your abilities, perhaps you can return to your divine kingdom from here after you become divine beings. Now I'm taking you back to the temple, before I die."

The savior said weakly that he felt his remaining life force had been exhausted after this failure, and he might die soon.

"No, wait a bit longer, I want to give it a try." Phil Gray pursed his lips; there was no way he would give up so easily!

He didn't want to stay on this island forever. Reaching the divine level would take forever, and how could he possibly fulfill the divine prophecy on this island? He wanted to return to the Church of Destiny right now!

Moreover, the moment he saw the fragment of the divine kingdom, he had an unusually familiar feeling, as if he had encountered it somewhere before. When the fragment of the divine kingdom clashed with the power of the savior, he felt a deep tremor in his soul.

Perhaps, he could give it a try? A deep-seated intuition told him that this was their only chance to save the island!

He silently prayed to the Prophet of the Day, "O Prophet of the Day, I am now fulfilling your prophecy and bringing light to this island. Please help me."

Then, as if desperately seeking divine intervention, he prayed to the god of fate: "God of fate, in order to complete your task of reforming the Papacy, I must first get off this island. Please help us too."

As for the god of death, Phil Gray seems to have no control over him, so he's automatically skipped over that.

To outsiders, Phil Gray walked resolutely toward the fragment of the divine kingdom, reaching out to try and touch it.

The savior struggled to his feet, looked at the young man's retreating figure, and chuckled, "He really doesn't care about his life!"

Even the divine messenger of the Dark Night Cult couldn't subdue the fragments of the divine kingdom, so how could a low-level follower from another sect possibly do it? In the end, he only lost his life in vain, after all, the backlash from divine power is no joke!

Although he mocked him, the savior had already gathered his last bit of divine power in his hand, intending to save this overconfident young man in a moment.

Elder Glen and the Dawn Knights also watched the Holy Son's retreating figure with solemn expressions, ready to stop him at any moment.

Eli and Ernest were also worried, but they didn't know where their confidence came from; they inexplicably felt that their boss might be about to create another miracle!

Just as Phil Gray reached out towards the fragment of the divine kingdom, the dazzling galaxy rushed towards him, playfully circling in front of him and leaving behind a series of magnificent tails.

He felt that stirring in his soul once more, like an ancient call that traveled through the corridors of time and reached the depths of his heart, causing a tingling sensation within him.

He frowned. It was clearly impossible for him to use his divine power to seize the fragments like a savior. So what should he do?

Just as he was about to lower his hand, a dark divine power suddenly flashed across his palm. This divine power came too suddenly, but he was certain that it was definitely not the power of the savior.

This power, as if alive, gently enveloped the fragments of the divine kingdom, causing the brilliant starry sky to shine even brighter. It touched Phil Gray's palm, the gentle touch like a soft, affectionate gesture.

Everyone stared in disbelief at what was happening, unable to comprehend what was transpiring before their eyes.

Phil Gray froze on the spot, his hands stiff as he endured the pleading of the fragments of the divine kingdom.

However, before he could react, the fragment left his palm and flew away, disappearing without a trace.

"Hey? Where did you go?"

With the departure of the fragments of the Dark Kingdom, long-lost light has returned to the island.

Everyone was surprised to feel the sunlight shining on them, their eyes stinging slightly from the sudden brightness, but they all stubbornly looked in Phil Gray's direction.

How is that possible?

How could this young man possibly have touched a fragment of the Dark Night Kingdom?

The savior almost thought he was dreaming. He stared intently at Phil Gray. "Who...who are you? How did you do that?"

The others were also waiting for Phil Gray's answer.

But Phil Gray, standing at the center of their gaze, didn't know how to answer them. He withdrew his hand, feeling something in his palm—a fragment of the divine kingdom left behind before it departed. He didn't say anything, but simply shook his head: "I don't know either. Perhaps my god, the Sun Prophet, made some kind of deal with the Children of Night? Otherwise, He wouldn't have sent us here, right?"

"Where did the fragments of the Dark Night Kingdom go?" The Savior pondered the veracity of his answer, but had no way of verifying it, so he could only ask further.

Phil Gray shook his head; he really didn't know. He just gripped what he was holding tighter.

The Savior gave him a deep look and used the power of the Dark Night to lead them back to the temple entrance.

After the fragments of the divine kingdom departed, the island seemed to awaken from a long nightmare. Sunlight filled every corner, and Elder Glen looked at the long-lost sunlight with emotion, while Eli and Ernest led the Knights of Dawn in cheers around His Highness the Holy Son.

As the sun rose, the five lighthouses shone brightly under the sunlight. They were rekindled, not with lives and sacrifices, but with hope and warmth. They would no longer be the guardians of darkness, but the witnesses of a new life.

Sunlight pierced through the clouds, shining on every inch of the island. Elder Mi knelt on the ground, weeping bitterly before the sun. The islanders emerged from the shadows of darkness, welcoming the long-awaited light.

Their faces were filled with incredible joy, as if they couldn't believe it was real. They completely ignored the pain in their pale skin caused by the sudden exposure to the sun. They knelt down and kept kowtowing.

"Light! We have finally ushered in the light! Our ancestors, can you see it? We have finally seen the light!"

With tears in his eyes, Elder Mi murmured to himself that he suddenly wanted to die so that he could tell this good news to his ancestors who had never seen the light.

"Regardless, now that things here are resolved, I can leave in peace." The Savior coughed twice, removed his hat to reveal an aged face, and looked at Phil Gray with his brown eyes. "Let me reintroduce myself. My name is Morton, a Chosen One of the Dark Night Cult. Are you the Holy Son of the Dawn Cult? Are you aware of the current state of the Dark Night Cult on the continent of Vil?"

Phil Gray nodded.

Morton said softly, “With the disappearance of the Children of Night and the shattering of the divine kingdom, the Church of the Night has naturally declined. The current Dark Night Church is less than a tenth of what it used to be. Ha, and that Pope is just a chosen one of the gods. If I hadn’t secretly helped him all these years, the Church of the Night would have been gone long ago.”

He looked intently at Phil Gray: "So, I would like to ask His Highness for a promise. I am also willing to pay a certain reward. You can make any request you have, as long as it is within my capabilities."

"What promise?"

"If the Dark Night Cult is in trouble, I hope Your Highness will lend a helping hand," Morton said. "And after my death, if I become a sacred relic, I hope Your Highness will send it to the territory of the Dark Night Cult."

"Okay, I agree. As for the payment, I need to think about it some more."

Phil Gray readily agreed, gripping the object in his hand tightly. If he wasn't mistaken, he couldn't remain uninvolved in the Cult of the Night.

"Okay, then think of something quickly and tell me before dark today, otherwise I'll die and won't be able to give it to you."

Morton was somewhat surprised that Phil Gray agreed so quickly.

"Um."

Phil Gray turned around, silently left the crowd, and walked towards an open space. When he reached a secluded spot, he gently opened his hand, sighed, and saw a tuft of black cat fur in his palm!
