Chapter 194 A Call for Help

The atmosphere at the Dawn Cathedral remains gloomy.

After all, there hadn't been a religious war on the continent of Ver for many years, and this time, with the involvement of gods, they were at a loss as to what to do.

Amidst the sighs and lamentations, a knight clad in white armor stepped forward, placing his right hand on his chest. He appeared deeply indignant, yet his face showed a hint of hesitation. "Your Majesty, the Great Pope of Dawn, I have a request. I beg Dawn to help our Church eliminate the traitor. If you can lend a hand, the people of destiny will be eternally grateful."

It was Valk Dodd, the Knight Commander of the Church of Fate.

Phil Gray felt a slight unease. Was he planning to implement "their" plan at this moment?

Is the timing not quite right?

Actually, he was planning to leave after things were more or less settled here, but right now the Dawn and the various religions are facing a holy war, and the future is uncertain. As the Holy Son of the Dawn, can he leave at this time and return to his homeland?

But it's not impossible. There are already a handful of elders at the God-Descending level within Dawn, and countless more God-Chosen Ones of higher rank. As a "Blessing" level follower, he can't be of much help in the war; at best, he can only be a mascot. It would be better for him to take this opportunity to return to the Church of Destiny, fulfill the prophecy of the God of Destiny, and advance to the God-Revelation level as soon as possible.

Moreover, he believed that Valcke Dodd was not lying. Wendell had long been colluding with the plague-makers, and Fate was probably already riddled with holes. He had to go back and fix everything in order to deal with the impending crisis.

However, everything depends on the plans of Pope Dawn.

Suppressing the myriad thoughts in his mind, he turned his gaze to Pope Dawn.

Pope Dawn frowned and asked Valck Dodd, "Traitor? What has happened to your church?"

"Your Majesty, you are unaware of the truth. As this elder just stated, those cults have already infiltrated our ranks. Bishop Wendell of our Church has long been in cahoots with the Plague Controllers. He took advantage of the situation to poison and assassinate our Pope Phil Grey, seizing control of the Papacy. He even plans to ascend to the papacy in a month and then openly lead our Church in supporting those cults!" Valk Dodd said angrily, then half-squatted down, looking utterly helpless. "Unfortunately, I am only at the Divine Revelation level. I cannot contend with them alone. I can only take advantage of this alliance opportunity to request external assistance!"

Watching Valcke's performance, Phil Gray sneered inwardly, but outwardly he feigned shock. He looked up at the Pope of Dawn, his icy blue eyes filled with grievance and sorrow, yet he forcibly suppressed his emotions, striving to maintain the demeanor of the Holy Son of Dawn.

When Pope Dawn heard Valck Dodd's request, he couldn't help but glance at Phil Gray, and then sighed inwardly, wondering why his own holy son had been born into the Church of Destiny!

“Your Majesty, these cults are now our common enemy. We hope you will lend a helping hand to help us eliminate the traitors, lest we become the territory of the cults. Once this is accomplished, our destiny will forever follow in the footsteps of the Dawn.” Valk Dodd bowed respectfully to Pope Dawn.

"How do you think Chenxi should help you?"

“Your Majesty, Wendell and his lackeys are all at the Divine Prophecy level. If you were willing to send an elder at the Divine Descent level…” Valk Dodd’s eyes lit up and he hurriedly said.

“Although the Divine Descent level is above the Divine Revelation level, if there are too many Divine Revelation level people, the Divine Descent level will also be at a disadvantage. The strength of the Plague Controller is still unclear. To be on the safe side, I will send another team of knights.” Pope Dawn pondered for a moment and agreed for the sake of his Holy Son.

Just then, Phil Gray stepped forward. "Your Majesty, we cannot readily believe the Knight Commander's one-sided account. We must see for ourselves to confirm the true situation within the Fate Sect. If any sect uses this as a pretext to seek the power of Dawn to help them achieve their own selfish desires, wouldn't Dawn inadvertently become a weapon in the struggles between other sects? It would also tarnish Dawn's reputation for arbitrarily interfering in the affairs of other sects! Therefore, I propose that I personally lead the team there. If things are indeed as the Knight Commander says, then Dawn will certainly spare no effort to eliminate the cult and its associates. If the Knight Commander's words are unfounded, then Dawn will absolutely not aid and abet evil."

Valck Dodd then said, "It was my oversight. I agree with His Highness's proposal and welcome His Highness to our church."

Pope Dawn was suddenly faced with a dilemma. Looking at Phil Gray's resolute face, he knew that as the former pope of the Church of Destiny, Phil Gray would definitely not be able to let go of his former church.

What do you mean, go and check the situation in person? Could it be that Elder Chenxi, whom he sent, couldn't even figure out something this simple?

But he couldn't refuse. First, he believed that the collusion between the Church of Fate and the Plague Controllers was real, and before the war, no sect could fall into the hands of a cult, so he had to go. Second, he had no reason to refuse Phil Gray; the boy was currently preoccupied with the Church of Fate, and if he refused, wouldn't the boy resent him?

Let him go. He's already a follower of the Prophet of the Day, and it's uncertain whether fate will accept him again. Besides, isn't the flourishing church of Dawn more attractive than that dilapidated fate?

He believed that Phil Gray would return on his own, and once the matters of the Church of Fate were settled, the child would be able to stay in Dawn as a holy son in peace.

Thinking of this, Pope Dawn nodded. "What the Holy Son says is quite right. Which elder is willing to accompany His Highness to the Church of Destiny?"

"I'm going to the front lines to find my granddaughter. I have no time to care about other sects!" Elder Memphis refused.

Elder Nancy shook her head as well. She needed to use her sacred object to observe the situation at the Crimson Calamity for the Dawn Clan and couldn't leave for the time being.

After some discussion, it was decided that Elder Glen and Phil Gray would lead the Knights of Light squad to the Church of Destiny.

“On behalf of the people of destiny, I thank His Majesty the Dawn,” Valcke Dodd said “gratefully.”

Phil Gray glanced at His Majesty the Dawn, feeling a pang of guilt. Although his words had sounded noble, he had indeed taken advantage of the Dawn's power and left at such a critical juncture. He only hoped that when his identity was revealed and the Dawn learned of his choice, the Pope would not hold a grudge against the Church of Destiny.

He really didn't want to stand on the opposite side of the enemy with Chenxi.

However, the Church of Destiny was extremely special to him, and he really didn't want to let go of such a good opportunity to return.

"Alright, it's late. After you've informed your respective sects, get some rest."

"The Pope of Dawn said."

The representatives from each religion left with heavy hearts.

Phil Gray had barely stepped out of the cathedral when he couldn't help but stop again.

Looking back, Pope Dawn sat alone in the church, stroking the statue he had picked up in Numas that day, his back view appearing somewhat lonely and dejected.

At this moment, the old man was no longer the high and mighty pope, but an old father worried about his daughter.

Phil Gray sighed, hoping that Miss Melody and the other two would return safely.

He lifted his foot and left the ten thousand steps in a few steps.
