Chapter 14 Contacting Gray

“No, no, no, I’m not here to cause trouble. It’s just that I offended some people from the Vatican before, and there will definitely be people from there attending the wedding today. I’m afraid they’ll recognize me,” Phil Gray explained.

However, the girl was quite clever and saw through the so-called leader's intentions.

"Oh, I see. Then I'm relieved. The people from the Vatican will indeed be here today, after all, it's the city lord's daughter's wedding. You should try to stay out of the way. There are about ten people serving dishes. I'll take you there. The banquet hasn't started yet, so you can rest for a while." After Lisa led him to the place, she went to attend to other matters.

"In a little while, once you've got the vegetables, you'll be in charge of this area, and you'll be in charge of the other side..." the kitchen supervisor instructed carefully.

As the banquet began, he and his servants carried a sumptuous spread of fruit and snacks to the reception room of the city lord's mansion.

He also saw the city lord sitting in the center, and the papal official beside him, an old man wearing a bishop's robe and holding a scepter.

He must be the bishop of the Church of Destiny in the city of Kao.

"Miss Edith and her groom have gone to pray before the statue of the Goddess of Fortune. They won't be back for a while. I can't wait to see how beautiful she looks," the servant closest to her whispered.

Are you talking to him?

“Me too,” Phil Gray replied casually, his eyes scanning the guests’ seats.

The guests seated on both sides were all nobles, dressed in gorgeous clothes and wearing beautiful jewelry.

But which one is the real Master Grey?

Did he actually come or not?

He hurriedly put down his things with his head down, and as he stepped out of the hall, he heard an extremely arrogant voice, "The Gray family is sending ten boxes of blue crystals to congratulate the city lord's daughter on her wedding!"

So those guests weren't him after all; he's only just arrived late.

Phil Gray paused for a moment and looked at the boy who had entered.

He had short gray hair, looked to be about the same age as me, had blue eyes, and bore a striking resemblance to me. He also had an outstanding presence.

There's no doubt about it, it's him.

But how can we approach him, reveal his identity, and avoid being discovered by the Vatican?

Seeing Phil Gray standing there in a daze, the servant beside him tugged at his sleeve, "It's time to go, what are you standing there for?"

As they walked out of the hall, the servant said, "You also know about Young Master Gray's pursuit of our young lady, right? He fell in love with her at first sight when he came to our city for a visit, and he came to see her almost every month. However, he suddenly had to leave for a month last time, and now his beloved is about to marry someone else."

The servant clicked his tongue twice and continued gossiping, "He must be feeling really frustrated right now."

"Won't he try to steal the bride?" Phil Gray found himself having the same guess as Barry.

Please don't do that. If he's under the spotlight, how will I be able to contact him for help?

"My stomach hurts a bit, I need to go to the bathroom. Could you please tell my supervisor I need to go?" Phil Gray suddenly said, clutching his stomach.

"Okay, okay."

The servant beside him gave him a look that said, "I think you're just trying to slack off," but still readily agreed.

After the servants left, Phil Gray found a corner outside the door, hoping to wait for the young master Gray to come out; it shouldn't take long.

Since that young master Gray likes Miss Edith, he certainly won't obediently attend the banquet here. He'll either try to steal her away or leave early. Otherwise, how can he stay there and watch his sweetheart be all lovey-dovey with someone else?

Just as he expected, after a while, he saw young master Gray stagger out and head straight for the backyard.

He quietly followed them.

The city lord's mansion is quite large, with a large garden behind it, complete with stone tables and chairs and a fountain.

He saw young Master Grey sitting at a stone table, holding a wine jug he had taken from the banquet.

"Oh, so you've come here to drown your sorrows in alcohol?" Phil Gray rubbed his hands together excitedly as he looked around and saw only Master Gray and his servant. "Perfect!"

He walked up to Master Grey, and as the servant was about to stop him, he said, "I have something important to tell Master Grey."

The servant looked at his master, who was still pouring wine down his throat.

I don't want to hear it.

After a long silence, he replied calmly.

Phil Gray suppressed the urge to punch that brat.

He suddenly rushed forward, forcefully pinned down Young Master Gray, and whispered quickly into his ear, "I am Phil Gray, the Church has betrayed me and is hunting me down!"

Young Master Gray instinctively threw Phil Gray away, but still listened to what was being said.

"ah?"

The drunkenness vanished instantly, and young master Gray stood up as he looked at Phil Gray, who had fallen to the ground.

Phil Gray rubbed his sore arm, slowly got up, his eyes flashing with malice, determined to teach him a lesson later.

Young Master Gray dismissed his servants.

"You say you're my cousin, how can you prove it?"

How can you prove it?

Phil Gray was taken aback. This needed to be proven. Well, that made sense; he had applied the color-changing slime.

“I applied the color-changing mucus, which is supposed to last for four hours. Three and a half hours have passed now, and it will prove itself in a little while,” Phil Gray replied.

"But before that, I need a safe place. The people of the Vatican have betrayed me. If they see you standing with me, they will probably guess my identity, and then we will both be in danger."

“Your voice does sound like my cousin’s, but don’t wait, put your hand here.” Young Master Gray took out a red gemstone. “This is the Gray family’s bloodline stone. If you are a member of the Gray family, it will light up.”

Phil Gray placed his hand on it, and sure enough, the gem emitted a red glow.

"You really are my cousin!" Young Master Gray's eyes widened, and he muttered, "Don't blame me, I haven't seen you since you became Pope, and I've long forgotten your voice."

Phil Gray smiled. "Yeah, I forgot your name too. Which cousin are you?"

"Ahem, cousin, don't joke around. Of course I'm Patrick. I'm your only cousin."

“Let’s not talk about this anymore. I need to go back and say goodbye first, and then we’ll take advantage of the bishop attending the wedding to get back to the family as soon as possible,” Phil Gray said.

"good."

Patrick first summoned his servants, then pretended to be drunk as he left the city lord's mansion.

Phil Gray, with his head bowed, continued to behave like a servant and left the city lord's mansion.

“I need to go down to the lower town to say goodbye first,” Phil Gray said as he boarded Patrick’s carriage.

“Alright,” Patrick said, and the servant drove the carriage toward the lower town.

“Cousin, Father has been sending people to look for you. He even communicated with the Church of the Dead, inquiring about your whereabouts. But we never expected that someone within the Church had betrayed us, and they were still pretending to look for you,” Patrick said angrily.

“Bishop Wendell and Knight Commander Valck Dodd have taken control of the Papacy, and I don’t know if the other two bishops have now sided with him.”
