Phil Gray left and returned to the plantation only after the man's "accidental" death.
“Cousin, you’re back. I had them burn all the useless or harmful crops on the plantation. The rest will make a lot of money once they’re sold.” Patrick walked over. It was already night, but the moonlight was bright, and the empty plantation showed that it had been cleared.
“That’s good. We’ve finally escaped the poverty and destitution we were in when we first escaped.” Phil Gray smiled.
"Hey, Edith made a delicious meal, cousin, please try it."
"Wow, that's amazing! You can even cook!" Phil Gray exclaimed, glancing at him with surprise.
They set out dinner under the moonlight and listened to Edith recount her adventures at sea; it had been a long time since they had enjoyed such a pleasant time together.
"If that guy were here, I would definitely show him just how charming I am!"
Phil Gray knew that Patrick was referring to Eli.
However, they should be able to meet again soon.
He had a vague premonition.
...
They and the pirates searched the island carefully for two days and finally heard that a new manager had arrived at the plantation of the God of Food a few days ago. He was a chosen one of the God of Life and was skilled in cultivating various crops, especially flowers and herbs.
“That must be Eli, but how did he end up at the Cult of the God of Cookery’s plantation?” Patrick said with certainty.
“That’s hard to say, just like we never expected you to be with the pirates.” Phil Gray pondered for a moment. “Is it far from here? Let’s head over and pay them a visit.”
“It might take half a day to ride a horse,” Patrick replied after a moment’s thought.
"Riding a horse? This might be a good opportunity for him to learn how to ride a horse."
“Here’s the horse!” Patrick led over a white horse. “It’s called Snowflake. It’s very gentle. Cousin, why don’t you give it a try?”
“This horse looks beautiful, but I’m not very good at riding. Could you teach me some basic skills?” Phil Gray said somewhat awkwardly.
“Of course you can. Riding a horse isn’t difficult; you just need to master a few key points,” Patrick said with a smile. “First, you need to wear proper safety gear, such as a helmet, gloves, breeches, and leg guards, to protect you from falls and abrasions. Second, you need to check that the tack is sturdy, the saddle is in the right position, the stirrups are the right length, and the girth is tight. Third, you need to pay attention to the horse’s behavior and expressions. Don’t approach the horse from directly in front or behind, don’t make sudden movements or noises that startle it, and don’t feed the horse with your fingers. Finally, you need to learn basic skills such as holding the reins, mounting the horse, giving commands, and appropriate postures.”
“Thank you, I’ll give it a try.” Phil Gray was eager to try. Following Patrick’s instructions, he gently patted Snowflake’s neck and felt its soft, smooth fur.
“Very good, now you can try mounting the horse,” Patrick said. “Remember to mount from the left, grab the reins and mane with your left hand, brace yourself on the saddle with your right hand, put your left foot in the left stirrup, jump up and straddle the horse, then put your right foot in the right stirrup. The whole movement should be quick and smooth.”
Phil Gray nodded and imitated Patrick's demonstration. He found that mounting the horse wasn't as difficult as he had imagined, just a little unsteady.
“Don’t be nervous, relax,” Patrick reassured him. “I’m on my horse now, let’s go together.”
They rode their horses along the path. Phil Gray felt the snowflakes moving lightly and powerfully beneath him. He tried to grip the sides of the horse's belly with his calves and control the direction and speed with the reins.
"This feels amazing!" he exclaimed. Back on Earth, he was used to driving, but he had never tried this method before.
"Hehe, cousin, you can have Ernest teach you some more advanced skills later. A knight can only be most effective on horseback."
"good."
After cycling for half a day, they arrived at a location near the center of Malu Island, where the plantation of the God of Food Church is located.
In order to source culinary ingredients from all over the world, the Food God Cult has established numerous plantations and bases. Only by ensuring the quality of ingredients can they create high-end cuisine.
“What a huge estate! This is nothing like Jonas Plantation.”
Patrick exclaimed in admiration.
"Welcome to the plantation of the Church of the God of Food, gentlemen. May I ask what brings you here?"
At the manor gate, a woman dressed in a light green dress walked over, wearing a hair clip shaped like wheat ears, and looked curiously at the two people who dismounted.
It was nearly dusk, and the manor was about to close its gates completely.
"Hello, is your new manager named Eli?" Phil Gray asked directly.
"Ah, let me think. Let me show you the roster. He should have registered yesterday." The woman was very enthusiastic. She went into the wooden house at the entrance of the manor and came out a moment later.
"How is it?" Patrick asked somewhat anxiously.
“Yes, his name is Eli. What do you need him for? He’s in charge of the edible flower area, and he shouldn’t have left yet. Shall I take you to see him?” the woman asked.
"That's great!"
Phil Gray and Patrick exchanged a glance and said simultaneously with delight.
After passing through fields of lush green crops and giant pumpkins, they finally arrived at a flowerbed filled with colorful flowers.
“That’s like him.” Phil Gray laughed and sure enough, he saw a well-dressed blond man leaning against the wall, deep in thought.
"Hey Eli, have you missed me?"
Patrick jumped in front of him, startling Eli.
"Oh, it's you, you idiot! And... Phil, you... you came out of the abyss?" Eli's face was full of disbelief, but even more so, surprise.
“Yes, I didn’t even know you’d forgotten your boss so quickly and come work for the God of Cookery if you hadn’t come out here,” Phil Gray teased.
Eli shook his head repeatedly. "No, that's not it. I jumped off the ship that day and wandered on the sea for a few days. A ship from the God of Food Cult happened to pass by, so I followed them to this island. I was thinking of finding this idiot first, and then working together to find a way to rescue you from the abyss. To be honest, I had already planned to go to the Church of the Dead afterward."
"Gentlemen, the plantation is about to close. Would you like to stay here?" the woman in green couldn't help but remind them.
"Ah, stay here then, let me recommend some of the delicious food from the God of Cookery." Eli smiled, finally relieved.
