It wasn't a person or a ghost, but a black cat!
Under the moonlight, its fur was all black with a faint sheen. It had a fish in its mouth, eating as it ran. Not only was it extremely fast, but it also ate the fish until only the tail remained.
"What kind of cat is this? It can even bite through such thick fish scales?" Phil Gray jumped down from the warehouse, and the cat had already disappeared into the bushes.
Ernest chased after them into the bushes, while Eli circled around to surround them, but the black cat slipped through their fingers like an eel.
"Wall of Fate!" Phil Gray murmured, erecting a wall in front of him, but the black cat easily leaped over it.
"Huh? This isn't an ordinary cat, is it?" Eli jumped and leaped after the black cat, but couldn't catch a single hair.
He made vines and thorns grow in front of the kitten, trying to stop it, but the black cat meowed and walked on them as if they were flat ground.
It made a sound, indicating that even its tail had been swallowed.
Phil Gray hesitated for a moment before throwing the Fate Blades, but the little cat tumbled and dodged in the air, and not a single blade hit its mark.
Although he didn't throw out a barrage of blades like he did when attacking Viscount Ward, this cat is just too amazing.
The three chosen ones watched helplessly as the black cat disappeared without a trace.
"My God, who would have thought that the three of us, the most powerful beings, couldn't even handle a cat?" Eli found it somewhat amusing; he hadn't felt this defeated in a long time.
Phil Gray frowned, unsure how to explain this to Ron later.
They were favored by the gods, yet they couldn't catch a cat.
The three searched the spot again, but found no trace of the black cat.
Ron rushed out of the warehouse, "The fish in the secret room are gone again! How are you doing? Have you caught the fish thief?"
Phil Gray coughed lightly. "We know who the fish thief is, but we haven't caught him yet."
"What? What on earth is stealing my Fireblood Fish?" Ron asked angrily.
“Well, it’s a black cat,” Phil Gray said. “But it’s definitely not an ordinary cat; none of the three of us Chosen Ones could catch it.”
Ron exclaimed in surprise, "A cat?" Then he asked with distress, "What should I do? This cat keeps eating my fireblood fish. Should I stop doing this business?"
The profit margin for firefish is very high, and he really can't bear to give up this business.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ron, there's nothing we can do. We have to get going to the Eastern Continent tomorrow," Phil Gray said apologetically. He had thought the fish thief would be easy to deal with, but he never expected things to turn out this way.
"Alright," Ron sighed, "thank you anyway."
“Okay.” Phil Gray nodded, just then he heard Eli’s surprised voice, “Boss! Your hat is moving!”
"What?" Phil Gray was still wearing the cotton cloak the boss had given them, but he didn't find anything strange about the hat.
He reached behind his hat and suddenly touched something soft and squishy, which made a gurgling sound!
Could this be a cat? Phil Gray touched it again, confirming that it felt like a cat, but how did this black cat end up in his hat?
Moreover, he clearly couldn't feel any weight at all!
“The cat is in my hat!” Phil Gray said softly.
He gently pulled the cloak forward, covered the hood with his hand, took off the cloak, and saw the little black cat sleeping soundly, blending into the black cloak!
You won't notice it at all unless you look very closely!
"My God!" Ron chimed in, angrily asking, "Is this the guy?"
The black cat was awakened by the noise. It jumped up very quickly and landed on Phil Gray's shoulder.
Then it licked its paws with its tongue, just like a normal kitten.
"Yes, uh, Mr. Ron, what do you plan to do with it?" Phil Gray felt the warmth of the cat on his shoulder and a sudden tenderness welled up inside him.
Ron was in a dilemma. His family had always lived in the Church of Life and were naturally influenced by it. They couldn't just kill the kitten, but it had indeed eaten his precious fish!
He used to hate fish thieves, but now that he saw that the thief was a cat, he felt like he couldn't vent his anger. After all, even if he killed the cat, the lost fish would never come back!
He reached out to grab the cat, but it nimbly dodged. After a chase, Ron was out of breath, while the black cat jumped onto Phil Gray's other shoulder and let out an innocent "meow."
"Sigh, we can't catch it at all. If it hadn't shown up on its own, we wouldn't have even seen a shadow of it." Eli shook his head, stretched out a finger to try and tease the cat, but it dodged it and gave him a disdainful look in return. He still couldn't touch a single hair.
"What are we going to do then?" Ron glared at the cat. "You little rascal! Don't think I can't handle you! If you eat my fish again, I'll take you down with me!"
“Haha, it doesn’t have to be like that, Mr. Ron, let’s think of another way.” Eli looked at Phil Gray, “Boss, this cat seems to like you a lot.”
Phil Gray reached out his hand, and the black cat actually rubbed against him, purring as if it were enjoying it.
A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and then he picked up the cat from his shoulder and put it in his arms.
The cat lay obediently in his arms, without struggling at all.
"Huh?" Ron was also a little confused. He made a face and said, "Why don't you take this cat to the Eastern Continent? That way it won't be able to eat my fish!"
Phil Gray was stunned. Could this really be done?
But will the cat follow it?
He genuinely liked the black cat, and it was clear that it wasn't an ordinary cat.
"Kitty, would you like to leave with me? To the Eastern Continent," Phil Gray said to the cat, wondering if it could understand human speech.
The black cat opened its eyes, its emerald green eyes shining like jewels in the darkness. It stared into Phil Gray's eyes and let out a "meow".
"Does this mean it agrees?" Eli raised an eyebrow; this cat seemed almost sentient.
“That should be true.” Phil Gray smiled and looked at Ron. “Mr. Ron, as you said, I plan to adopt it and take it to the Eastern Continent. However, it did cause you some losses. Calculate how many gold coins you lost, and I will compensate you.”
"No need. If you can take it with you and stop eating my fish, I can quickly earn back the lost gold coins. I should thank you!" Ron said hurriedly.
“Okay, we’ll do our best to get it away.” Phil Gray hugged the cat tightly. The cat rolled over uncomfortably but didn’t run away, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
