Chapter 3 The World of Weir

“Continue the pursuit. The authority of the Pope and the Holy See cannot be violated.” Phil Gray said in a deep voice, his brows furrowed slightly.

The bishop nodded. "Yes, as you wish."

He bowed and left.

Phil Gray watched his departing figure thoughtfully, then casually asked the two servants beside him, "What do you think of this bishop's character?"

The two servants looked at each other, and one of them, a male servant with golden wavy hair, spoke first, "Bishop Dominic has a rather bad temper, and anyone who offends him will be severely punished."

Another short-haired brown servant nodded. "Yes, I saw him arguing with Bishop Wendell last time. Bishop Wendell has always been very friendly and has never had any disputes with anyone, but he is always targeted by Bishop Dominic." As he said this, his expression became somewhat indignant.

The blond servant continued, "Oh right, Milu, I remember last time you brought your sister to the Vatican to ask for a job, and you were reprimanded by Bishop Dominic. It was Bishop Wendell who came to your rescue."

"Yes." Milu looked a little shy.

Phil Gray smiled. Good, at least he now knew the names and general characteristics of the two bishops.

As they walked and chatted, Phil Gray learned that the blond valet was named Kane and had a cheerful personality, while Milo was somewhat honest.

They soon arrived at the Pope's bedroom, where Phil Gray directed them to place the books on the table and then dismissed them.

Strangely enough, the dialect and script here are completely different from those on Earth, but he can understand them, and even speaks the same words as the locals. He can also clearly understand the meaning of the local script.

He opened the "Weir World Encyclopedia" and found a letter hidden inside. He was shocked and opened it:

"Guests from another world,"

It is a pleasure to communicate with you in this way. I am Phil Gray, the Pope of the Church of Destiny. However, from now on, this name and identity will belong to you, accompanying you on an unprecedentedly glorious path.

In every place where the god of fate has lingered, God and I have prepared a generous gift for you. This is your reward and a gift from destiny. God has chosen you, and I believe that you will restore the Church to its former glory and let the blessings of the god of fate spread throughout the entire world of Ver.

Your unfamiliar friend, Phil Gray.

He put down the letter, his emotions still unsettled. So his time travel was an arrangement of fate? In other words, the gods in this world are real. Yes, this time travel should have shattered his materialistic values.

But why himself? He would rather enjoy life on Earth than live in constant fear in this perilous world, playing the role of a stranger.

Feeling somewhat frustrated, he let out a long sigh and wondered, "Where did the original Phil Gray go?"

“God of Fate, if you truly exist, please tell me, why did you choose me?” Phil Gray asked, gazing at the exquisitely carved flower of destiny on the table.

But after a long time, there was still no response.

Phil Gray could only try to calm himself down and accept the situation. Perhaps exploring a magical world would be an interesting thing for someone as curious as him.

He chuckled self-deprecatingly.

Then I began reading this encyclopedia.

It took him about two hours to get a general understanding of the world called Will.

"The first part of the book is about the geographical environment. The world of Weir originally had two continents, East and West, which were separated by the ocean. To the north and south, there was also an endless ocean. To this day, no one has ever left the North Sea and the South Sea."

Then how can we prove how big the world really is? Phil Gray seemed to be thinking.

"The second part is the countries. There are 12 major countries in the world of Vil. The country I am currently in is the Kingdom of Puna. Nearby are the Kingdom of Baro, the Kingdom of Tasu, and the Grand Duchy of Tas. The current state of these countries has been maintained for at least two hundred years."

"The third part is religion. There are many religions, more than a dozen large ones, and dozens of smaller folk religions. Since this is a world full of gods, every country has a religion. The power of the church is greater than that of the king. The main religions in the Kingdom of Puna are the Church of Destiny and the Church of Life. There is also a religion called Disease Worship, which worships the god of disease, Eni. How can people worship such a god?" Phil Gray asked with some doubt.

The book provides a detailed introduction to the gods, who are divided into principal gods and subordinate gods. There are six principal gods: the God of Life, the God of Death, the Child of Night, the Prophet of Day, the God of Fate, and the God of Time and Space.

Besides the main god, there are also subordinate gods, which are gods that belong to the main god. For example, the gods of fertility and harvest and food under the god of life, and the gods of disease and disaster under the god of death. The number of followers of some subordinate gods even exceeds the number of their respective main gods.

Phil Gray found it interesting and then took out the book "The World Religions of the Ville," which provided a more detailed introduction to religions, including introductions to various sects and their locations.

“Your Holiness, your lunch is here.” Kane knocked on the door, pulling Phil Gray’s thoughts back to reality from his book.

"Please come in."

Kane placed the food on the table. First was an exquisite bowl containing a sticky but fragrant substance. Next was a plate filled with white, lumpy objects resembling rice cakes, a fruit salad, and finally a plate with three or four legs smaller than chicken legs, which appeared to be bird legs.

“Your Majesty, you are still recovering. The kitchen has prepared some light food for you. The cook from last time is still in jail, so we don’t know if this one we hired temporarily will suit your taste,” Kane explained.

Phil Gray smiled. "Thank you, I'll enjoy it."

Kane scratched his head. "It's my pleasure to serve you. I'll be going now."

After bowing, Kane left the chamber. For some reason, he felt that the Pope's personality had changed after being poisoned, becoming so kind and gentle. The previous Pope had never thanked them, his servants.

In any case, as a servant, one would naturally prefer to accept such a change in master.

Phil Gray looked at the food on the table and felt a pang of longing for Chinese cuisine. However, being unconscious for several days had left him extremely hungry, and he practically wolfed down the food on the table.

However, the taste seemed pretty good. Although the fruit here was unlike anything I'd ever seen on Earth, it was just as delicious.

"Your Holiness, the Knight Commander requests an audience." Before he could even call his servants to clear the table, another unfamiliar voice knocked on the door and reported.

"Please come in." Phil Gray straightened himself and stood up.

The man who entered was around thirty or forty years old. He was burly, wearing golden armor, with a long sword at his waist. He had short blond hair and a rugged face.

It seems this is the Knight Commander of the Cult of Destiny.

Phil Gray sat upright at the table, his face cold, maintaining the dignity of a pope.

After the knight commander saluted, he asked, "Is there something you need, knight commander?"
