Chapter 4 Mysterious Whispers

Knight Commander Valcke Dodd nodded. "Yes, Your Majesty, that's how it is..."

Phil Gray walked slowly to him and listened quietly to his report.

He was still talking about the search and arrest of the poisoner, seemingly requesting that someone be sent to the parish of the person who created the plague to negotiate.

But he knew nothing about it, what plague-controllers, what apostates, he could only nod casually with "uh-huh," pretending to be worried.

After the Knight Commander finished his report, Phil Gray patted him on the shoulder. "You've worked hard on these things. I'm not feeling well right now and need to rest for a while longer. As long as some things don't harm the interests of the Holy See, you can make your own decisions. My knight, may the god of fate always protect you!"

A flicker of surprise crossed Valcke's eyes, but he said nothing more, simply kneeling before him. "I will protect you with my life and honor, you can rest assured," he said.

What is he saying?

Did something I said arouse his suspicion?

Phil Gray's heart skipped a beat, but he didn't know the original owner's personality or what went wrong. He could only try to speak as little as possible to avoid exposing himself again.

"Alright, you can go now."

"yes."

The late autumn weather was rather chilly, especially in this empty hall.

In order to pretend to be the former pope, Phil Gray could only kneel here every morning and pray to the god of fate, just like him.

However, the previous popes did indeed demonstrate their piety to the gods, but for someone like him who can't even sing hymns, all he can do is stand here in a daze.

His mind raced, processing the current situation. He had been in this world for almost a week, and apart from the knight Luce Wilder, who was responsible for protecting him, who might know that he was not the original owner of this body, no one else should have noticed.

This is mainly because the original owner had almost no contact with other people before.

Phil Gray knew nothing about the original owner's parents, relatives, or friends.

The original owner of this body, the pope, was really idle, and he left almost everything to the three bishops.

He also roughly understood the composition of the Destiny's personnel. Under him, the Pope, were three cardinals who were responsible for managing the daily affairs of the entire Papacy, and each city within the Papacy's jurisdiction had an archbishop and a sub-bishop for each district of the city.

The Papacy also has many knightly orders, with the Knights of Destiny at the Papacy headquarters, whose main leader is the Knight Commander Valk Dodd.

Each city also has its own knightly order, all named after the city.

After sorting out the current situation, Phil Gray started to space out again, and he even felt drowsy.

Realizing he was the only person in the entire hall, he decisively stood up and lay down on a chair to the side.

Surely the god of fate won't blame me?

The original owner was His follower, but I am not.

Although it is known that many gods may exist in this world, it is difficult for a former materialist to quickly come to believe in a god.

He also harbored some resentment towards the god of fate for choosing him to travel through time.

Lost in thought, he fell asleep.

"Listen to the whispers of fate..."

"Listen to the whispers of fate..."

"What?"

Phil Gray was in a state between sleep and wakefulness.

He heard an unknown voice echoing in his mind.

"Listen to the whispers of fate..."

Phil Gray sat up abruptly, only to find that the sound had disappeared.

Was this a dream? Phil Gray rubbed his head. The hall was quiet, and there was no other sound.

Phil Gray thought it was probably just a dream and didn't think much of it.
