Chapter 160 Urban Crisis

"Is it you? The Holy Son?" Tracy's mouth moved, his face was covered in scars, and the person who had just spoken was the young nobleman beside him.

Melody recognized the person beside him. "Angelo? You're here too?"

“Yes, Miss Melody, I’m here for Lord Steven’s banquet.” Angelo nodded slightly, maintaining his aristocratic demeanor even in this situation.

Phil Gray didn't exchange pleasantries with them. Instead, he placed his hand on Hodgson's shoulder and comforted him, "Reverend Hodgson, you don't need to worry too much. These people are very likely still alive. We should try to help them return to normal."

Reverend Hodgson then slowly stood up. "What should we do?"

"On one hand, we'll wait for rescue, and on the other hand, we'll patrol the city to see if there are any normal people left," Phil Gray said after thinking for a moment.

“Where are the normal people? We’ve looked around, and all we see are zombies, and their arms and necks are all broken. How can they recover?” Tracy pouted and retorted softly.

Phil Gray ignored him and continued, “Anything is possible. It’s better to have hope than despair. There are too many zombies. We can’t act alone. Try to stay together. Reverend Hodgson, you know the way. Take us to some important residential areas.”

“Okay, let’s go to the city lord’s mansion first. There are city guards there. I wonder how they are? If they haven’t turned into zombies yet, we’ll have one more help.” Reverend Hodgson said quickly, like a person clinging tightly to a rope as they fall off a cliff.

"good."

After driving away the zombies along the way, the group arrived at the city lord's mansion. The castle lights were all off, which made them feel somewhat heavy-hearted.

Normally, waiters would add white stone fuel to the lamps, but now the fuel had burned out and hadn't been added, so it was pitch black.

Upon entering the castle, the dark castle was completely silent.

Phil Gray took out the Spirit Flame Lamp he had made in the Abyss from his spatial storage. He never expected it to come in handy again at this time. Last time it was at the Skeleton Lord's Dark Castle, and this time it was at the City Lord's Mansion in the Dawn Cult area. Fate is truly unpredictable.

"Ah!" Tracy suddenly screamed, then desperately tried to kick the floor with her sword.

Phil Gray turned around and saw that the half-zombie lying on the ground was holding Tracy's foot.

Melody, with lightning speed, fired an arrow, and the burning arrow reduced the half of his body on the ground to ashes.

"Damn it!" Tracy kicked away the remaining black ash.

“That seems to be the steward left behind by the old city lord. There aren’t many people in the castle. Lord Steven just took office. Luckily, his family didn’t come with him, otherwise…” Hodgson could hardly imagine the consequences.

They went up a few more floors, and there were only two or three zombies in the entire castle. However, he was very curious about how the butlers and servants guarding the castle came into contact with the zombies outside.

It was late at night, not daytime.

This is so strange.

“Look, that’s the barracks over there,” Hodgson said, opening the window on the top floor and pointing to a spot behind the city lord’s mansion.

By the moonlight outside, they could see that the place was densely packed and already in complete chaos.

"It's hell on earth!" Melody covered her mouth, struggling to hold back from vomiting.

“Miss Melody, we need to get you back to headquarters as soon as possible. It’s too dangerous for you to stay here,” Angelo said. Numas City has tens of thousands of people. If they all turn into zombies, it would be terrifying. One can’t fight against so many. Escaping the city as soon as possible is the best option.

Melody didn't speak, but simply gripped the bow and arrows in her hand tighter.

“Let’s look around elsewhere.” Phil Gray frowned and strode quickly outside.

Eli and Ernest followed closely behind him, while Night, who had been lounging in his coat pocket, lazily yawned.

Seeing this, the others had no choice but to follow.

They searched from the darkness until dawn, when the red sun gradually rose, and under the gaze of the daytime prophet, there were only zombies, not a single living person.

"Impossible, how could it spread so fast?" Phil Gray still couldn't believe it. If one bites another to turn into a zombie, then it should have taken some time for the whole city to turn into zombies. Some people stayed indoors, and it happened to be nighttime, when social interaction was rare. It was absolutely impossible for the virus to spread so quickly!

"There's no other way, there are no living people left, leaving now is the best option!" Tracy shouted frantically, as they fled among the hordes of zombies, panting heavily.

Melody turned to Phil Gray. “Your Highness, the situation here is beyond our control. It might be more feasible to seek help from nearby cities as soon as possible.”

“Okay.” Phil Gray nodded.

After burning wave after wave of pursuing troops, they finally arrived at the city gate.

At this moment, everyone except Phil Gray had almost exhausted their divine power. Ernest's hand holding the sword trembled slightly; he had already slashed countless times.

Phil Gray remained silent the entire way, because he kept thinking that these people might be able to recover and become normal again. However, the severed limbs and bloodstains on the ground kept reminding him that even if they could recover, what kind of shadow would these disabled people, who had even torn apart the flesh and blood of their loved ones, live under in the future?

"Boss, which city are we going to next?" Eli asked.

They all breathed a sigh of relief as the hordes of zombies finally disappeared from the wilderness.

Reverend Hodgson looked back in the direction of the city, his eyes filled with a deep, lingering sadness.

“What cities are nearby? If we go to South Milly, we might find the city lord and the bishop, but it might also be another zombie-infested place.” Phil Gray sighed.

"I need to go find my uncle. What if he's in danger there?" Tracy asked anxiously, her eyes wide.

“Going there will only make you a burden to your uncle,” Angelo said matter-of-factly.

"What do you mean?" Tracy asked, displeased.

"Your Highness, what do you think?" Angelo asked with a faint smile.

“We’ll go to South Milly,” Phil Gray said firmly after a moment’s thought.

Other cities may also be overrun with zombies, and the city lords and bishops are divinely inspired beings; finding them might hold the key to saving these cities.

“Okay, I’ll do as you say.” Angelo nodded, a strange light flashing in his eyes.

Phil Gray always felt that this seemingly kind and aristocratic man was a bit strange and hard to like. He wondered if it was because the impression left by the imposter from last time was hard to forget.

I think these aristocratic young men are all bad.

Of course, Patrick and Ernest are exceptions.
