Caroline fell into deep thought. The space stones created by the Church of Creation and the Church of Eternity were completely undetectable to outsiders. Even the elders of the church did not know that she possessed a crystal of the Dawn Light. Why did the person in front of her know this?
Could it be that they've all misunderstood him? Is the person before them truly the Pope of the Church of Destiny? And does he genuinely want to help them change their fate?
Let's give it a try. What if it's true? She doesn't want to be in danger later. With that thought, her eyes lit up. "I have the crystal of Dawn's Light. Although the other materials are very precious, I should be able to buy them at Gold Coin No. 3."
Phil Gray and Eli stared at Caroline in surprise. They never expected her to believe the fake Phil so readily and actually go to collect materials. But what was even more surprising was that she was actually quite wealthy? Buying so many precious materials so easily?
Fake Phil laughed. "I knew it. When fate forces you to make a choice, you can seize the opportunity. Your destiny will come the moment you reach land. We have almost four days to complete the ritual. You should start by gathering the materials. Once you have them all, you can come find me."
“Okay.” Caroline nodded solemnly.
Phil Gray and Eli exchanged a glance, unsure of what to say. They had already told Caroline that this man was a fraud, so how could they still believe him?
However, it's also their fault for not revealing their identities, as there's no direct evidence to prove that this person is an imposter.
The fake Phil then looked at Phil Gray, approaching him with the pendulum in his hand, "Sir, let me help you see what your fate is?"
Phil Gray inwardly scoffed. If it weren't for the inconvenience of the moment and the fear of revealing his identity as both the Prophet of the Day and the Chosen One of Fate, he would have already used his Eye of Fate to see through the man's true nature. Why would he allow himself to be spied on? However, he was quite curious about what this man could see, so he pretended to be overjoyed and said, "Okay, thank you!"
As before, the fake Phil infused his divine power into the pendulum, and a soft light shone forth. He then closed his eyes.
The pendulum moved slowly and stopped after a long time.
Phil Gray kept staring at him, noticing that his face had turned somewhat pale and a few beads of sweat had rolled down his cheeks.
Finally, the person in front of me opened his eyes and said with a complicated expression, "I can't quite see through your fate, but I can give you a suggestion."
"What advice?" Phil Gray asked. Although the Eye of Fate could see through others, it couldn't see itself, and he was actually quite curious about his own future.
"Watch out for the person in the white clothes!" Fake Phil said, rubbing his temples, his handsome face showing obvious fatigue. "I need to rest now, I'm sorry I can't stay any longer."
"OK."
The person in white? Phil Gray wasn't sure if his warning was true, but he took it to heart anyway.
The group watched him leave the private room, then began to discuss amongst themselves.
"Are you really going to give him those materials?" Eli asked Caroline, tapping the silver plate in front of him with his fork.
“Yes, actually, I’ve been thinking about it again. Even if he’s not the Pope, his status as a chosen one of fate is real, right? Then his skills can indeed see my future.” Caroline frowned, then rested her chin on her hand and looked at the two people in front of her. “Why not let him try? No matter what the outcome, we can find out his true purpose, can’t we?”
"Whatever you want." Eli shook his head, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. Judging from the current situation, he was more suspicious than he believed.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it's almost midnight. After midnight, our late-night snacks will be half price. Would you like anything else?"
A male waiter approached, bowed, and asked.
"It's almost midnight already!" Caroline yawned. "Where is your first mate? I want to buy some things from him."
"He probably hasn't rested yet. Shall I take you to his room?" the waiter asked after thinking for a moment.
“Then you all go back and rest, I’ll go buy the materials.” Caroline stood up, but then heard Phil Gray say, “Shall we go with you?”
"Huh? Hehe, don't worry, I can beat that fat guy with one hand. Their Business Church is excellent at making money, but they're not so good at anything else." Caroline smiled and waved to them, "Alright, you guys go back and rest."
Phil Gray sighed inwardly. He wasn't worried about her safety at all; it seemed this naive girl was about to be swindled out of a lot of money by that unscrupulous businessman.
They walked out of the restaurant, and the corridor outside was very quiet, indicating that the other passengers had already rested.
Watching Caroline's departing figure, Phil Gray leaned against the wall, discreetly concealing himself, and then whispered, "Eye of Fate!"
However, before he could concentrate his divine power into his eyes, Eli patted his arm, interrupting his skill, and then signaled that someone was coming.
Phil Gray could only turn his head and see Viscount Ward walking towards him. Beside him was the white-clad man who had brushed past them earlier. At that time, the man's face was covered by a white hood, but now that his face was exposed, just as Phil was about to take a closer look, the man turned a corner and left into another corridor.
Viscount Ward seemed surprised. "You're having a late-night snack here too?"
"Hmm, was that someone you know? I saw him in the reading room before. I really like people who love reading like him," Phil Gray asked tentatively.
The moment he saw the man, he suddenly remembered the warning from the imposter pope: better safe than sorry, he should investigate first.
“Oh? I don’t know him. Sorry, I just thought he was acting mysteriously with his hood up, so I pulled it off. After all, I need to eliminate potential dangers on the ship, right? But he didn’t seem too happy about it and we argued for a bit.” Viscount Walter shrugged and took out some tobacco from his pocket. “Alright, that’s enough. I need to go back and rest.”
“Okay, goodnight,” Phil Gray said absentmindedly.
What a coincidence! He almost managed to use the Eye of Fate on Caroline. He really wanted to confirm whether her fate would be as the fake Phil had said, but alas…
We can only wait for another opportunity. As for the man in white, I don't know if he's being referred to, since there are many people wearing white on the ship.
