Chapter 118 Successful Summoning

Accompanying the sound was a large skeleton, over two meters tall, with a massive frame that made the entire cabin seem cramped. His bones were adorned with metal decorations, giving him an imposing appearance.

His two flames were incredibly powerful, holding their own against the White Stone Lamp.

Phil Gray's expression turned strange as he thought of the spirit lamp in his hand. If only he had this guy's spirit fire, it could definitely illuminate ten meters away.

"Oh, this place looks so familiar. Hehe, it really is you, you old codger. I was wondering why someone would offer me this bone ring as a sacrifice. I thought you were going to sell even the things I gave you." The skeleton lowered his head, looked at the ghostly old man in front of him, and let out a hearty laugh. His voice made the small wooden house tremble.

Phil Gray still hasn't figured out where the skulls are making those sounds.

"Of course I won't sell! It actually...it actually worked!" The ghostly house owner looked at Phil Gray with eager eyes. He had really succeeded in summoning the specific undead! He had waited so long, and finally, his chance had arrived!

"I can finally return to the human world! After eight hundred years, I can finally have the chance to see light and color again, instead of being forever shrouded in darkness!"

The ghostly homeowner muttered excitedly to himself, but Phil Gray interrupted him, saying with a wry smile, "While I can indeed summon you to the human world, that depends on my ability to leave the abyss. I heard from Uriah that no living person can leave here."

"What does he know? A useless, stupid little skeleton, how could he possibly know any secrets of the abyss?" the homeowner said disdainfully, but as soon as he finished speaking, he heard a cautious voice coming from outside the door.

"The rebirth banquet is about to begin, are you ready?"

Uriah was probably impatient, but there were still things to take care of, so Phil Gray could only shout, "You go ahead, I'll come find you in a bit."

"Okay," Yulia replied, followed by the sound of his footsteps receding into the distance.

The homeowner showed a disdainful expression.

The summoned giant skeleton crossed its arms, looking on with amusement. "Living people can leave the abyss, but can you guarantee this little guy can get through the Death Corridor?"

"Why not? Can't you smell that person's scent on him?" the homeowner retorted.

The giant skeleton tilted its head, puzzled, and asked, "I don't have a nose, so how can I smell it?"

The homeowner's face darkened. "Didn't you say you didn't have a mouth? How can you still talk? Try to feel it carefully."

The giant skeleton chuckled. "Of course I sensed it. Was it that Death Knight? Wasn't he summoned by the God of Death and still in the temple?"

"No matter what, with that person's protection, he will surely be able to pass smoothly."

"That's not necessarily true. Those little guys aren't very intelligent. Who cares if they're protected by a Death Knight? In my opinion, you should just stay in the Abyss. Even though you're alive, thanks to that person's reputation, you can enjoy things that are unavailable in the human world. What do you think, little cutie?" The giant skeleton looked down at Phil Gray and said with a smile.

“I must leave the abyss; my friends are waiting for me,” Phil Gray said firmly.

Moreover, this dark abyss is teeming with the dead, and there's no food at all. If this goes on for too long, he'll starve to death, let alone enjoy himself.

The homeowner glared at the giant skeleton. "Shut up. I didn't summon you here to ruin my plans to go to the human world. If you have nothing else to do, go back to your home."

"Hmph, of course I have to think about my good friend."

“That’s more like it. We’ve known each other for so many years. How could you deliberately not consider my feelings…” Before the homeowner could finish speaking, the giant skeleton placed its bony hand on Phil Gray, looking like they were good buddies.

He stared in disbelief at the scene, then said angrily, "Get out of here! Go do what you're supposed to be doing! Your lord is having a rebirth banquet, aren't you going to help?"

"I was just at the Rebirth Feast." Upon hearing this, the giant skeleton smiled and looked at Phil Gray, saying, "The lord is probably still looking for me, but I accepted the sacrifice and will stay with my summoner for a day. My dear partner, would you like to come with me to the Rebirth Feast? Every follower longs to witness the descent of a true god, right?"

Phil Gray hesitated. Since the homeowner knew how to leave—by simply going through the Death Corridor—he didn't need to attend the Rebirth Feast. However, he was indeed very interested in the scene of the divine descent.

“Go ahead. To get to the Corridor of Death, you’ll need the Lord to open the passage for you.” The homeowner nodded to Phil Gray. “I’ll go with you.”

"Oh, how strange, even a centuries-old hermit cat is going out." The giant skeleton laughed so hard his bones rattled.

One man and two undead walked into the street. With the spirit fire of the large skeleton, Phil Gray no longer needed to hold up his "lamp".

As he walked, Phil Gray was still reviewing what had just happened; he still had some questions that hadn't been answered.

"By the way, you said before that the God of Death's chosen one failed to advance from quasi-god to demigod? Can a chosen one become a god?" he asked doubtfully. Aren't gods born that way?

“Of course, otherwise how would you expect there to be a quasi-god level?” the homeowner replied.

"Wouldn't there be more and more gods? The continent of Ver has a history of nearly ten thousand years, right?" Moreover, it seems that each god holds their own authority, so what should the newly born gods be responsible for?

Seemingly considering that he would still need Phil Gray to summon him to the mortal realm in the future, the homeowner patiently explained, "The main gods are all born from the natural world. There are only six main gods, as you probably know. But the subordinate gods are different. They were originally followers of the main gods, and later gradually rose to become subordinate gods. However, it has been a long time since any new subordinate gods have been born. How difficult it is for a follower to become a god! Not only do they need to go through a series of tests and trials, but they also need to gain the approval of the main gods."

So that's how it is. So his ultimate goal after becoming a Favored One is to become a god? If he gains the power of a god, will he be able to return to Earth?

Phil Gray felt a surge of excitement; he seemed to be able to empathize with some of the homeowner's feelings.

Furthermore, he raised his wrist, "Is there only one Death Stone?"

After that quasi-god-level follower fell, surely he shouldn't have left behind only a bone.

“There are over a hundred Death Stones, but most of them are in the hands of the monarchs of various realms, who will bestow them upon the undead under their command. That Death Knight was willing to give you such a precious item and even leave his aura to protect you, so your relationship must be quite special, right? But it's strange that you don't know his identity yet!” The homeowner glanced at Phil Gray sideways.

Phil Gray recalled his meeting with Wilder and his every move, and he couldn't help but think that Wilder didn't seem like the important person they had described. Finally, he couldn't help but ask, "Just who is he?"
