Chapter 119 Skeleton Lord

"The first knight of the Northern Region, the next monarch of the Northern Region, the most favored person of the God of Death?" The homeowner carefully considered his words before answering.

Phil Gray was slightly surprised. He hadn't expected Wilder to be so capable. Why was he forced into such a situation by Valcke back then? Was it for show? Or was there another reason?

The only answer might be to meet Wilder in person, but they said he was summoned to the Temple of Death by the god of death and no one knew when he would come out. And since I was in a hurry to return to the human world, I knew I would not be able to meet him this time.

He sighed and fell into a silent silence.

Suddenly, Phil Gray felt the ground shake, followed by a burst of intense drumming from ahead, the muffled beat accompanied by a murmured whisper that surrounded him.

"The Rebirth Feast has begun." The giant skeleton stopped and looked at the outline of the castle in front of him, the castle where the lord of Ten Thousand Bones City resided.

"It's alright, the divine descent will take a while. Although I haven't participated much, I know the process," the homeowner said. His floating body hadn't been outside for a long time, and he was quite unaccustomed to the feeling of moving around outside.

Although the divine descent had not yet begun, the one person and two undead still quickened their pace.

“There will probably be many high-level undead at the Rebirth Feast. Do you have anything that can help me conceal my presence as a living person?” Phil Gray thought for a moment and asked.

"What are you hiding? Any high-ranking undead can sense the Death Knight's protection. No one in the Northern Region is unfamiliar with his aura. You'll be able to walk around with impunity then, so why worry about these things? Besides, don't you have your good partner now? He's not someone to be trifled with either. At least in Ten Thousand Bones City, no one dares to offend him." The homeowner pointed at the large skeleton and chuckled.

The giant skeleton swung its thick arm and said, "Don't worry, the undead in the City of Bones are all very friendly."

“Alright.” Phil Gray could only nod. Friendly? Uriah had previously said that, apart from him, all the other undead liked to eat living people.

As they walked closer to the direction from which the drumbeats were coming, the deafening sound made Phil Gray instinctively cover his ears. By the light of the spirit fire in the skull's eye sockets, he could vaguely see that they had arrived at the castle.

"Are all you skeletons deaf?" the homeowner muttered, covering his ears as well. Phil Gray couldn't hear him and could only decipher his lip movements.

"Huh? We don't have ears?" the giant skeleton shouted, looking completely innocent.

But Phil Gray had already seen through the skeleton's act; he seemed to enjoy teasing the homeowner, proving they were indeed old friends.

The castle was completely black, not made of bone, but seemingly constructed of some kind of mineral. Thick bars obscured the windows, giving it an eerie and terrifying appearance. Several bone carriages were parked outside, their skeletal horses reminding him of his escape with Wild when he first arrived on the continent of Ver.

For some reason, Phil Gray had a feeling that he had been deceived. He ignored his displeasure, after all, the man had saved him, and now he relied on his protection.

Two skeleton soldiers stood guard at the entrance, holding bone longswords and shields, their expressions stern and extremely cold.

But upon seeing the giant skeleton, they all shouted in unison, "Greetings, Lord Leopold!"

"Yes, did the lord call for me?" The giant skeleton chuckled, stroking the skull of one of the skeleton soldiers with his large hand.

“No,” the skeleton soldier replied.

“Oh, he’s really cold-hearted,” Leopold said with a smile, shaking his head.

They seemed completely unaffected by the drumming, but Phil Gray and the homeowner frowned.

Following the giant skeleton, we entered the castle. The interior was extremely spacious, but the atmosphere was dark and cold. Only the spirit fires of the skeletons provided a faint light, but it was enough to see everything inside.

The Skeleton Lord of Ten Thousand Bones City sat at the highest point of the banquet hall, dressed in a long black robe and wearing a crown studded with jewels. His eye sockets blazed with fierce blue flames, and he held a gilded scepter in his hand.

He looked down at the newborn skeleton kneeling on one knee in front of him, raised his hand, and the dense drumbeats stopped instantly.

Phil Gray finally breathed a sigh of relief; if things continued like this, he would surely go deaf.

Long tables and chairs lined both sides, filled with distinguished guests. Besides the skeletons, there were pale-faced but handsome vampires, furry werewolves, and upright zombies. The long tables in front of them were laden with fine wine and food, making it almost indistinguishable from a human banquet.

"Won't the food that a skeleton eats really fall out?" Phil Gray suddenly wondered.

These must all be VIPs, because he could see some undead gathered at the right gate of the castle. They stood crowded together, looking towards the lord and VIPs in the center. However, the skeletons all looked very similar, and he couldn't tell which one was Uriah at all. But the female zombie was easy to recognize. She was standing on tiptoe, looking towards the VIPs, and her stiff face even had an excited expression.

Their entry into the castle drew the attention of the distinguished guests, and even the skeleton lord, seated high above, seemed to notice them.

"Leopold, where have you been?" the Skeleton Lord asked slowly, his voice hoarse. "Oh, Frank, it's quite a surprise that you've actually stepped out of your dilapidated house."

“Your Excellency, I am of course going to invite my friends to the Rebirth Feast. Your carefully prepared banquet deserves many guests.” Leopold placed a hand on his chest to show his respect for the lord.

So the homeowner's name was Frank?

Phil Gray and Frank also paid homage to the lord.

“The little fellow who came with you is quite interesting.” The lord stepped down from his seat, and his words drew everyone’s attention to Phil Gray.

This includes ordinary undead gathering at the entrance.

"Huh? Who is this, sir?"

The female zombie excitedly covered her mouth to prevent herself from screaming.

Uriah looked with considerable worry at the center of everyone's gaze, fearing that the lord would recognize Phil Grey as a living person.

But in fact, high-level undead can recognize them at a glance.

Even more so, some had already sensed the presence of the Death Knight, their gazes fixed intently on the humans protected by the two undead, Leopold and Frank.

Whispers broke out in the VIP section, making Phil Gray feel extremely uncomfortable. It had been a long time since he had been in the spotlight like this since leaving the Church of Destiny.

What's more, none of those watching him this time are human!
