Chapter 71 The Chosen Ones

Eli was standing idly by the window, admiring the snow scene.

The black buildings of the Dark Night Parish, covered with layers of white snow, have a unique charm.

Until he saw a patch of red spreading on the street outside the window, and upon closer inspection, he discovered that there was a person lying there.

"This outfit..." Eli was somewhat surprised. "Phil!"

He rushed out the door, where Phil Gray was still lying in the snow, pale-faced with blood in his eyes.

The skin was red, but it didn't look like it was frozen; rather, it looked like it had been burned.

Patrick came out too, and asked anxiously, "What happened? Why is my cousin lying here?"

The two men took Phil Gray back into the house and added some more fuel to the fireplace.

“I just saw my cousin walk downstairs by himself. I thought he was just going for a walk to clear his head. How did things turn out like this in the blink of an eye?” Patrick said, somewhat annoyed. “I’ll go ask the Holy Son what he did to my cousin.”

Before that, they took a nap in the house, while Phil Gray went to talk to the Holy Son about George's affairs.

"Wait...look!"

Eli was about to feed Phil Gray some white flower petals.

A faint white light appeared on Phil Gray's body on the bed. It was the divine power of the God of Fate that Patrick was familiar with, and his red skin quickly returned to its original state.

They looked at each other, both bewildered, not knowing what had just happened.

Eli tentatively used his divine power to examine Phil Gray's body and discovered that his life force was even stronger than before.

He smiled with relief, and was about to say that nothing was wrong when he saw Phil Gray's body radiate golden light again.

"What's going on here?" Eli was completely baffled.

I had no idea what was happening outside, nor when I returned to my bed in the hotel from the snow.

As his consciousness slowly returned, Phil Gray was still surprised to hear the voice of the God of Fate. It was His evaluation of his actions, not the words of wisdom or the voice of a gift of skills that any follower could hear.

The former represents the true will of the gods, while the latter is more like a pre-set system.

Does this mean that the god of fate has been watching them all along? Then why does the god refuse to descend upon the world of Vil?

Is it that they don't want to, or that they can't, like the children of the night?

Even while still in a coma, Phil Gray was troubled by many mysteries.

Suddenly, his body felt warm again, and he heard the voice of the Prophet of the Day, "You already know the truth about the sun, go and spread the fire of the sun!"

His soul and body were instantly invigorated. He could feel the golden divine power flowing into his body and merging with the previous divine power.

There was still no conflict; the gold, gray, and white blended together and slowly returned to calm. He now looked like an ordinary person.

However, both physical fitness and divine power reserves have significantly improved.

After he became a chosen one of the gods, he also learned about issues related to divine power from Patrick.

If the divine power gained from listening is 1 unit, then a blessing is 10, a gaze is 100, a divine revelation is 1, a divine descent is 10,000, and the divine way that transcends the realm of mortals is 1 million, quasi-gods are 100 million, and the divine is infinite.

The amount of divine power they expend each time they use a skill depends on the quality of the skill, the time required, the target of the skill, and so on.

He is currently a level 2 follower of the God of Destiny, a level 1 follower of the God of Death, and a level 1 follower of the Prophet of the Day. That adds up to 12 units of divine power and four skills, which absolutely surpasses 99.9% of followers of the same level.

Thinking of this, a smile appeared on his lips.

Patrick quickly caught that smile.

"Cousin, are you awake? What happened to you?"

Hearing his urgent voice, Phil Gray opened his eyes.

"I'm fine, but I'll have to worship another god now." Phil Gray sat up, feeling his divine power surge. The punishment he had received for using his skill to spy on the god had just been removed by the god of fate.

My heartfelt thanks to the god of fate!

"Are you going to believe in the Prophet of the Day again?" Eli's face showed surprise, and considering that the person in front of him was the Pope of the Church of Destiny, he found it even more unbelievable.

"Yes."

Phil Gray showed his wrist. "That holy son told me that as long as we become a follower of the Day Prophet, this mark can be removed. And their elders who have been demoted by God are coming soon. If we don't remove the mark quickly, we will be forced to flee again."

“But…” Patrick pointed to his wrist.

"What's wrong?"

"The mark is still there!"

Phil Gray paused for a moment, noticing that the sun mark on his wrist was still there, and his eyes had even darkened, leaning towards a golden-red hue, with flame-shaped patterns appearing around them.

It looks exactly like the eye on the statue of the Prophet of the Day.

"He's not lying to you, is he?" Patrick said angrily, rolling up his sleeves to go find Vincent.

Phil Gray frowned as well. Shouldn't this mark disappear?

He also got out of bed, and the three of them went to Vincent's room.

If Ernest were here, he would probably go with us, and probably with his longsword, but he's currently on a mission to monitor George and the activities of Port Lensey, so he's not here.

"Didn't you say that becoming a follower of the Prophet of the Day would remove the mark?"

After Vincent opened the door, Phil Gray asked the first question.

"Yes, what's wrong? Have you become one of His chosen ones?"

Vincent looked him over, but the person in front of him was still an ordinary person, without any of the familiar divine power.

Phil Gray raised his hand and pointed to the table in Vincent's room, and the tablecloth instantly burst into flames.

At that moment, Vincent indeed sensed the divine power fluctuations that originated from the same source as him.

"You, you actually became a chosen one of the gods!" Vincent's eyes were filled with disbelief.

It's simply impossible to go from hearing the divine words to completing them and gaining skills in less than a day!

As the Holy Son of the Dawn Cult, he had seen many people favored by the gods, but it took them at least three days to reach the Listening level, and that was only due to various coincidences.

But now, he has encountered someone like Phil Gray.

“Yes, it’s a skill bestowed by the Prophet of the Day—burning, but for now, I see it as nothing more than a portable ignition device.” Phil Gray pointed to the mark on his wrist. “So why does it still exist?”

Vincent was still in shock when he saw the mark on Phil Gray's wrist.

"This... is impossible!"

He grabbed Phil Gray's wrist, staring intently at the mark as if he had seen something even more unbelievable.

"Let go!" Patrick grabbed Vincent by the collar, preventing him from getting close to Phil Gray.

"What's wrong? Why are you still here?" Phil Gray asked again.

Vincent looked into the icy blue eyes of the person before him. "This is not the sun mark used to track down the person who destroyed the corpse, but a mark of the gods."

"What?" The group looked at him in surprise.

“I know it better than anyone, because it was this mark on my body that led to my being identified as the Holy Son of the Cult of Dawn,” Vincent said slowly.
