Ignoring the resentful little expression on her son's face, Bi Qiaoan pulled Nuan Nuan over and, in a flash, left the space.
Still wet, the cold air outside made me sneeze loudly.
Nuan Nuan, too, was caught off guard while wearing only a thin nightgown and was pulled out of the space. Fortunately, she was dry, so she didn't react as strongly as Bi Qiao An.
The stove in the cave hadn't been refilled all day, and the fire had gone out. The cave was cold and damp, nothing like the comfortable and cozy space outside.
The guard at the door was still knocking, his voice clearly tinged with anxiety.
"Qiao An, are you there? If you are, say something!"
Bi Qiaoan quickly told Nuannuan to hide under the covers. There was no time to change clothes, so she unfolded a blanket and wrapped it around herself.
"Qiao An hasn't said a word. Could something have happened to her? Or should we just take the door down?"
The person next to him hesitated for a moment, then nodded: "I'll call out a couple more times. If no one answers, we'll tear the door down. We need to make sure someone's inside, or if they're sick."
Just as they were about to knock on the door, they heard Bi Qiaoan mumble, "Yes, I'm here. Wait a moment, I'll open the door for you right away."
We have to open it, otherwise someone might actually tear it down!
Bi Qiaoan glanced at Nuan Nuan and quickly took out her and her own clothes from her spatial storage and put them on the bed.
She tugged at the blanket again before opening the door.
The room was dark and cold. The two guards who came to find her were stunned.
Standing at the door, he asked, "Qiao An, are you sick? Why didn't you come to work today? It's so cold in here, are we out of firewood?"
Bi Qiaoan invited the person in and pretended to be sickly, saying, "I had a nightmare last night. I dreamt that something happened to my husband, Lao Shen. I was so anxious that I couldn't fall asleep until this morning."
He probably had a fever; he was so delirious that he missed work. The fire went out because he forgot to add more firewood.
The guard's eyes flickered, and he nodded. "Then let's help you start the fire. Yanming has been gone for so long, he's probably busy with something. We'll go get some firewood and get through this period."
Bi Qiaoan didn't miss the expressions on their faces and thought that the base probably already knew that Shen Yanming and the others were in trouble.
She asked calmly, "Did you two come over and call me to cook?"
"No, it's not that. I just didn't see you this morning, so I was a little worried and came to check on you." It was Wen Mengguan's idea to avoid mentioning it.
Bi Qiaoan nodded: "I'm sorry for not informing everyone in time, I've caused you all trouble."
"It's alright, it's alright. If you're not feeling well, just rest for a while. This is a job we should be doing anyway. It's just that the guys think you're a good cook, and they're a little craving some food since they haven't had any."
Bi Qiaoan was embarrassed, never expecting that her good intentions would become a shackle binding her.
"Sigh, why are you saying all this? They're just being pretentious. They should be grateful to have food at all, yet they're still being picky. Don't worry, I'll give them a piece of my mind when I get back."
Bi Qiaoan smiled and said, "It's nothing. It's just that everyone recognizes my skills. It's just that I'm feeling really down and have a bit of a headache, so I'm afraid I won't be able to go for a while. Please bear with me, brothers."
"Should we go to the hospital to get checked out?" the guard asked worriedly.
Bi Qiaoan shook her head: "No need, we have medicine at home, just take some."
"Where's Nuannuan? I haven't seen her."
Bi Qiaoan walked to the bedside and gently patted the little girl who was curled up in a ball: "I made you fuss last night, so you didn't sleep well and probably have a bit of a cold."
The two guards were relieved to see that the mother and daughter were both alright.
He started a fire for Bi Qiaoan, chopped firewood, and took some food from the base before leaving.
Before leaving, they told the two girls that if the medication didn't work, they should go to the base hospital for a checkup. They would come to visit again at the same time tomorrow.
Bi Qiaoan nodded gratefully, and after seeing the person off, she hurriedly took Nuannuan into the space.
She was still wet, and after being exposed to the cold wind for an hour or two, she felt a little dizzy.
She quickly took some cold medicine, changed her clothes, said a few words to Nuannuan, and then lay down on the big bed in the mobile villa to sleep.
Nuannuan glanced at her tired mother, sighed, made herself something to eat, and went up the mountain.
Seeing her brother still in the water, she smiled and asked him, "How are you? Do you really want to get out?"
An An rolled her eyes and didn't say anything.
Nuannuan didn't tease him anymore. She brought the food over and asked, "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?"
An An nodded, dragged Shen Yanming to the shore, supported him with one hand, and ate with a spoon in the other.
Seeing this, Nuannuan came over to help, supporting Shen Yanming with one hand and scooping up the spiritual spring water with the other, pouring it over his head and face.
An'an got splashed with water and asked him, "Dear sister, are you helping or causing trouble?"
Nuannuan glared at him and said, "Didn't you see that Daddy's face is all disfigured? And this head of his hair, what are you going to do if it doesn't grow back?"
An'an fell silent, lowering her head and shoveling rice into her mouth. Only after finishing did she ask, "Where's Mom?"
"I'm going to sleep. I've been exhausted these past two days and haven't even eaten." Nuannuan sighed after saying that.
Shen Yanming heard the two children's conversation clearly. He was very anxious, but he was trapped in the fire and couldn't get out.
I have no idea what that lava is, but it's so powerful.
And the fire around him, was it real or just a figment of his imagination?
If he couldn't figure it out, he stopped thinking about it. He gathered his strength again and charged outwards...
After a good night's sleep, Bi Qiaoan felt refreshed. She glanced at Shen Yanming with her mind and was relieved to see that he was alright.
He glanced at Qi Xili and the others, and seeing that they had arranged things in an orderly manner, he didn't interfere anymore.
Harvest the mature grains and vegetables in the space, then replant them. Bi Qiaoan discovered that her abilities had become even stronger.
Previously, grains had to be dried in the sun to dehydrate, but now, it can be done with a single thought. Perhaps this is because the space has absorbed a lot of space stones.
In a flash, he arrived at the mountaintop and replaced An'an. An'an called out and ran off. He needed to go down the mountain to read and couldn't delay any longer.
Bi Qiaoan carefully examined Shen Yanming and found that the charred black marks on his back were slowly peeling away, revealing pinkish, tender flesh growing underneath. However, it wasn't fully grown yet, as could be seen from the scabs that were about to fall off.
Knowing that Shen Yanming was healing himself, she felt more at ease. She extended her consciousness to the storage area, then peered out, only to find it completely dark outside. There wasn't a single ray of light.
Bi Qiaoan was surprised, thinking that even if she fell from the crack, it shouldn't be so dark that there would be no light at all!
But that vague consciousness told her that the outside was empty and not filled with lava, mud, and rocks.
She frowned, turned on a flashlight, and threw it out with her mind.
The light shone on the wall, then wobbled and swayed as it shot "up into the sky," flipped over and fell downwards, finally disappearing with a thud.
