"Okay, give me a bowl of ginger soup, I don't want to drink bitter medicine."
"Okay, sure!" Zuo Xiangqun replied.
"Then I'll take the herbal decoction. There's not much ginger water, so save it for those who hate bitterness."
"no problem!"
Once the first person was taken, a second one followed. Everyone felt unwell, and it was more or less because they had caught a chill. But they also knew that there was no time for them to recover. Dozens of lives were still buried in those ruins!
So they had no choice but to tough it out on their own. But since there was ginger soup and herbal remedies to prevent colds, they decided to give it a try; it would be best if it helped.
Bi Qiaoan knew the effects of her own ginger slices, so she wasn't worried. But she was really unsure about that packet of medicine.
She had considered secretly adding spiritual spring water to the medicinal soup, but if the effect was too different from that of the disaster-stricken people, it wouldn't work.
Helpless, she could only let things continue as they were. She prayed silently, hoping the medicinal herbs in her space would work, and that even with so much water, the resulting decoction would still be effective.
Whether it was her prayers that worked or not, those who drank the ginger water and herbal soup felt much lighter. With their health improved, they naturally had the energy to eat.
Seeing that they were no longer looking dejected, Bi Qiaoan secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She asked casually, "Were you all particularly busy today?"
One of the guards said while eating, "Yeah, we have to race against time. The best time for rescue is within 72 hours. And these victims are all our brothers, so everyone wants to rescue them as quickly as possible."
But then, unexpectedly, it started raining. Rain will make the rescue more difficult, but for their sake, we have no choice but to continue working in the rain.
"Yes, we have worked and trained together for so many years and have developed a very deep bond with each other. We absolutely cannot abandon any of them until the very last moment."
Bi Qiaoan asked, "So, are you going back to work later?"
They shook their heads. "The weather is bad, and the workload is too heavy. Everyone is struggling to keep up. So we've decided to take turns resting. We'll go and relieve them in six hours."
Bi Qiaoan nodded. "You're the veteran guards, right? Are the new recruits the same?"
"You want to ask about your husband, right?" The guard smiled knowingly. "He's in great physical condition. We were going to let him come back to rest, but he volunteered to stay and help out."
"Yes, I don't think they'll be back until midnight."
"Oh, is that so? It's good to have news, then I won't worry anymore." Bi Qiaoan said this on the surface, but what she was thinking in her heart was: "Honey, take it easy, don't overwork yourself."
After the group of guards finished eating and went back to rest, Bi Qiaoan was also tired. She said goodbye to Zuo Xiangqun and prepared to go back to sleep.
As for the goose, the original plan was to let it hide in the temporary restaurant for one night, but the goose was unwilling. It always remembered that it was the mistress's bodyguard, and it tugged at Bi Qiaoan's trouser leg, insisting on going back with her, even if it meant getting soaked in the rain all night.
Having exhausted all other options, Bi Qiaoan could only ask Zuo Xiangqun, "Can you help me carry it back?"
"Um?"
"My goose doesn't want to leave me, but I also don't want it to get wet in the rain. I don't know when my husband will be back, so I'll just sleep with it tonight."
"Is this a good idea? Aren't you worried it will bump into your stomach?"
"It should be fine, my goose is very well-behaved!"
Upon hearing this, the goose quacked twice.
Zuo Xiangqun was quite surprised; he had never seen such a spirited goose before. So he nodded and said, "Since you're not worried, I'll take you both back."
However, I still suggest you place the goose at your feet, but definitely not beside you. Otherwise, if you accidentally step on it, it might panic and not care whether you're its owner or not.
Bi Qiaoan nodded, "I understand!"
Seeing that the goose was about to throw a tantrum again, she quickly said, "Be a good boy, we'll be home soon."
The goose calmed down and let Zuo Xiangqun pick it up. When the two reached the tent, Zuo Xiangqun first put the goose inside, and then helped Bi Qiaoan take off her raincoat before slowly sitting down in the tent.
“What are you going to do with this raincoat? How about I put it on the tent? Maybe it will dry by the time the rain stops tomorrow.”
"That's hard to say. If the wind comes tonight, it'll be gone by tomorrow," Bi Qiaoan said with a smile, then took a plastic bag out of her bag. "Just leave it here, and take it out to dry when the rain stops."
"What if the rain doesn't stop?"
"I still have an umbrella, so I shouldn't be unable to go out. Even if I really can't go out, I won't go out. Anyway, I still have some biscuits, so I won't go hungry."
"Alright then. If it rains again tomorrow, I'll bring you food. Please don't refuse, because that packet of medicine really helped everyone out of a lot of trouble today."
"Okay, thank you very much!" Although Bi Qiaoan felt guilty, the other party had already said so much, it would be too pretentious to refuse again.
After Zuo Xiangqun left, Bi Qiaoan put the wet raincoat into her spatial storage, then used her consciousness to open it and hung it on the balcony of the mobile villa to dry.
After leaving the large stove in the temporary restaurant, Bi Qiaoan began to feel the chill. She glanced at the goose huddled in the corner, then lay down in bed and waited for Shen Yanming.
She had considered putting the goose into her spatial storage, but she was afraid that a stranger might approach while she was asleep without her knowing. So, for safety's sake, she decided to let the goose stay at her feet.
