Chapter 880 Something Happened

"How could we not know?" The two men frowned, disbelieving.

"Ah, it happened suddenly, we were notified at the last minute. You weren't back at work, so you didn't know," Shu Miaomiao lied without batting an eye.

Hu Yisheng and Li Sa exchanged a glance, both feeling that something was amiss.

They asked, "What's your name?"

Shu Miaomiao's eyes flickered, but she chose to tell the truth: "My name is Shu Miaomiao, and I used to be a live streamer. I..."

She wanted to talk about her strengths, but clearly, neither photographer was interested in listening to her.

“We cannot verify your identity, so please wait here for now.” The two turned and went back to the small auditorium.

Li Sa became suspicious and whispered to the guard beside her, "Keep an eye on this woman. I'll go report to Captain Li."

The guard nodded, thinking he would have done it even if the guard hadn't said anything. An unidentified person had appeared at the live broadcast location; they had to be brought back and their purpose investigated.

Meanwhile, Hu Yisheng had already recounted the conversation at the door to Li Sikai. Li Sikai had a gut feeling that this was a conspiracy, but with time running out, he couldn't leave to investigate.

So he called General Li and briefly explained the situation. Then he called Qin Yuewen to ask her what had happened.

Qin Yuewen was completely stunned when she heard that neither of the two hosts had shown up.

She couldn't believe it and kept asking, "They really didn't go to the scene?"

"It's really Editor-in-Chief Qin! It's almost nine o'clock, and Yin Jiaqi and Peng Baoxin still haven't arrived." Hu Yisheng and Li Sa were extremely anxious as they listened to the amplifier.

"They're not the type to be unpunctual!" Qin Yuewen scratched her head, regretting for the first time in her life that she had trusted her subordinates' abilities. She should have come with them.

Hu Yisheng and Li Sa were about to say something when Li Sikai interrupted them.

"Now is not the time to assign blame. They both disappeared at the same time, so something must have happened. I've already sent security guards to investigate. The key issue now is that a suspicious person has appeared here."

She introduced herself as Shu Miaomiao, saying she was an anchorwoman sent by your side to replace the two hosts.

"Shu Miaomiao, I don't know this person!" Qin Yuewen said subconsciously.

"Are you sure you don't know him?" Li Sikai wondered, thinking that if they really had no connection, the person shouldn't have appeared so openly at the scene.

Isn't she afraid of being taken away for investigation?

In fact, Shu Miaomiao was quite scared.

But thinking that she hadn't come to assassinate or cause trouble, she deceived herself, believing that the other party wouldn't pursue her criminal liability.

Besides, if she can save the day, she'll most likely be treated as a major hero. Then my own insignificant mistakes can be forgotten. Plus, with Qin Linwei pulling strings for me, I might even be able to change my status and directly enter the circle of power and wealth.

When Qin Yuewen heard Li Sikai ask this question, she racked her brains to recall the name.

Suddenly, a thought struck her, and she remembered the girl she had met a couple of days ago. She had been wondering why someone would specifically mention that they were a live streamer.

"Oh, I remember now. I saw a girl in Director Hou's office a couple of days ago. I think her name was something like Miaomiao. She told me she was a live streamer."

Hearing this, Li Sikai became even more puzzled, wondering if he had really been temporarily assigned to replace her.

"Have there been any personnel changes on your side?" Li Sikai asked.

"No, at least I haven't received any notification." Qin Yuewen finished speaking, glanced at the time, and said, "How about this, Captain Li, you stall for time on your end, and I'll go find Leader Hou to confirm right away." Since the other party knows him, he must know something.

Li Sikai thought about it and agreed. But he waited until 8:53 and still hadn't received a reply from Qin Yuewen.

Qin Yuewen went to Hou Hongzhang's office, only to find it empty. She asked around and learned that Hou Hongzhang had gone to a meeting in another department.

I quickly called him, but found that his phone was off.

Qin Yuewen was stunned and didn't know what to do.

She took a few deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down. She immediately mobilized her connections, and after several twists and turns, finally found the phone number for that department.

But it was already past nine o'clock.

Hou Hongzhang was furious when he learned about the accident. He never expected Qin Linwei and Shu Miaomiao to be so audacious.

I immediately contacted Li Sikai, only to find that they had already started a live stream.

Hou Hongzhang broke out in a cold sweat and, under pressure from the people in the conference room, told the truth.

"I... I never expected them to be so bold. I already refused them both that day, but they still dared to cause trouble in my name. Now I'm in a situation where I can't clear my name no matter what I do." Hou Hongzhang was trembling all over.

The meeting room was filled with chatter, and no one was in the mood to continue the meeting.

They were already somewhat unhappy that the leaders had invited them to a meeting today, New Year's Day. The inability to watch the live stream added to their resentment. Now, with this whole charade, everyone's minds were far away.

"Alright, since no one's in the mood for a meeting, let's watch the live stream together," Zhao Mengguan said.

Hou Hongzhang wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, nodded, and thought that he needed to know how the live broadcast went so he could come up with a solution.

Of course, these are all things that happened later.

Rewind to fifteen minutes earlier. Li Sikai, having waited in vain for Qin Yuewen's call, called her instead.

However, the other end of the call was busy, so he thought for a moment and decided to play along.

Have someone bring Shu Miaomiao in. Of course, she needs to go through security before entering to make sure she's not carrying any lethal weapons.

Shu Miaomiao caused all this trouble just to get on camera, to become famous, to get close to the space, and even to seize the space.

But she wasn't stupid; she knew she couldn't reveal her true intentions to everyone. So she cooperated obediently, carrying nothing but a key and not even a nail clipper.

Only after confirming that the person was harmless did the guard let Shu Miaomiao in.

Li Sikai observed her up close and found that the girl was very pretty. Moreover, she wasn't afraid of him at all; instead, she smiled shyly, which was quite endearing.

He concealed his emotions and asked calmly, "Who sent you?"

Shu Miaomiao wanted to mention Hou Hongzhang, but a confrontation would expose her secret.

So he smiled and started promoting himself: "Captain Li, I mean no harm. I'm really here to participate in the live stream. I've done my homework beforehand and have a lot of live streaming experience. Please give me this opportunity."

Li Sikai raised an eyebrow: "Did you do your homework? What homework?"

Shu Miaomiao's eyes darted around, and she remembered the sales pitch she had seen in the office that day, so she picked out some of the ones she remembered and recited them.

Hu Yisheng and Li Sa were both stunned after hearing this.

Wasn't this the result they discussed together? How could this woman have known!
