Chapter 5 Settlement
A hideous and terrifying wolf head with saliva dripping from its mouth pounced towards Xiao Yaya, opening its smelly and bloody mouth, wanting to eat her whole.
"No!" Xiao Yaya woke up from a nightmare, sweating all over.
"You're awake."
Suddenly, a familiar male voice came from her ears, and Xiao Yaya subconsciously turned her head to look.
Lai Yang sat opposite her, adding firewood to the campfire.
The bright firelight warmed the small temple, and the air seemed to be filled with a smell of blood.
"Why haven't you left yet? How long have I slept? I dreamed that the wolf demon wanted to eat me. By the way, where is the wolf demon?" Xiao Yaya said anxiously.
Lai Yang turned his head to look at the corner next to him. Xiao Yaya followed his gaze and was immediately frightened and stood up in shock.
"It's dead and won't hurt you anymore." Lai Yang said lightly.
“Dead…dead…” Upon hearing this, Xiao Yaya was shocked and couldn’t believe it.
Seeing that the wolf demon's body was really motionless and even its eyes didn't blink, she finally believed that the wolf demon was dead.
"Uncle...uncle, did you kill him?" Xiao Yaya turned to look at Lai Yang.
Lai Yang nodded.
"That's great! The wolf demon is dead. The village will be fine from now on. I don't have to die. This is great, this is great..." Xiao Yaya covered her mouth and cried with joy.
"Where do you live? I'll take you home when it gets light." Lai Yang looked up at Xiao Yaya.
Xiao Yaya wiped her tears, smiled and said, "Our village is ten miles away."

Xiao Yaya sat next to Lai Yang and looked up at him with bright, expectant eyes.
Lai Yang hesitated for a moment and nodded: "Okay, I'll tell you."
In fact, it was not easy for him to win the battle just now. He was in danger several times. Fortunately, his body defense was strong enough. In the end, he relied on his powerful defense and the sword in his hand that could cut through iron like mud to pierce the wolf demon's heart, and thus barely won the victory.
In the small temple, the girl listened quietly as the young man leisurely narrated his battle with the wolf demon. The originally solemn and tense atmosphere became peaceful and tranquil.
Only the man-eating wolf monster in the corner died with his eyes wide open, staring with his dark green eyes, his expression seemed full of unwillingness.
At dawn, the two men extinguished the bonfire in the small temple and returned to the village with the wolf demon's body.
The girl danced in the mountains and forests with cheerful steps, like a lovely elf.
The young man carried a sword on his back, tied the wolf demon's huge corpse with vines and held it above his head. He followed quietly behind her, escorting the girl to safety.
About an hour later, the two saw a village not far away.
At the entrance of the village, several strong men were patrolling around with hoes and carrying poles in their hands.
When Xiao Yaya saw the patrolling people, she quickly ran up to them and waved to say hello.
Lai Yang followed behind slowly.
"Uncle Agou, I'm back!" Xiao Yaya shouted excitedly.
Seeing Xiao Yaya coming back, everyone was shocked: "Yaya, why did you come back? Do you want to kill our village?"
"Everyone doesn't need to be afraid anymore. The wolf demon is dead. Uncle killed the wolf demon. We don't need to make sacrifices to the wolf demon anymore."
"The wolf demon is dead?!"
"Yes, the uncle killed the wolf demon. Look over there."
Everyone looked in the direction Xiao Yaya pointed, and saw a young man slowly approaching with the corpse of a huge wolf demon with black and gray hair. Everyone was stunned with their mouths open so wide that an egg could almost fit in.
"It really is a wolf demon! Oh my god, the wolf demon has been eradicated, and the village is safe! What a great joy, what a great joy!"
"Hurry, hurry, hurry, tell the rest of the village that the man-eating monster is finally dead."
A moment later, everyone in the village heard the news and ran out, surrounding the wolf demon's horrible corpse and talking about it.
Soon, the village chief came out, walked around the wolf demon's body a few times, and nodded to everyone: "It is indeed the body of a man-eating wolf demon."
Hearing this, everyone showed excitement and were very happy.
"Thank you, hero, for helping to eliminate this evil for our village. I wonder where the body of the other wolf demon is?" The village chief came to Lai Yang and asked respectfully.
"Another wolf demon?" Lai Yang looked puzzled. "Besides this one, is there another one? I saw one last night."
"What?" The village chief's face changed, and his body trembled slightly because of fear. "What should I do? What should I do?"
Hearing this, everyone's faces changed again, and their expressions became ugly and fearful again.
"Grandpa Village Chief, what's wrong? Isn't it a good thing that the wolf demon is dead? Why do you have such expressions?"
Xiao Yaya didn't understand.
"Yaya, there are not just one wolf demon, but two. The wolf demons are extremely cruel and violent, and they will take revenge for any slight. Now one of them is dead, and the other one will definitely avenge its companion when it finds out. Then our village will not be able to escape the disaster." One person explained.
Upon hearing this, a look of panic appeared on Xiao Yaya's little face. She didn't expect that there was more than one man-eating wolf monster.
In other words, not only is their village not safe now, but it has become even more dangerous because Lai Yang killed one of the wolf demons. They may face the bloody revenge of the second wolf demon at any time.
"What should I do now?"
Everyone was as anxious as ants on a hot pan, running around in circles, looking at each other, and for a moment no one could think of a solution.
"Oh, right, we can let the uncle stay in the village. The uncle is very powerful. He can kill wolf monsters and protect our village." Xiao Yaya suddenly had an idea and ran to Lai Yang. "Uncle, can you stay? Please, help our village."
In an instant, everyone seemed to have grasped a life-saving straw, and countless hopeful eyes fell on Lai Yang.

Lai Yang looked up at those nervous yet hopeful faces, then thought that he still had nowhere to go and didn't know what the situation would be like in the next town. It would be nice to have a place to stay temporarily, so he nodded and agreed.
"Since this matter was caused by me, I am willing to stay and help you deal with the wolf demon, but I don't have a place to stay right now."
"Uncle, come and live at my house. Although my house is not big, it should still be able to accommodate us." Xiao Yaya hugged Lai Yang's arm tightly and said happily.
