Chapter 8 Dilemma

Chapter 8 Dilemma

After joking for a while, we finally got down to business.

Lin Cong asked two people to block him, and then quietly opened his and Yan Song's backpacks.

He looked excited: "I found it in a public security bureau. There's nothing good, but there's plenty of ammunition."

Gu Chao asked: "Didn't you see anyone?"

"No, there were only corpses left when we got there."

Gu Chao didn't comment and asked again, "What is it?"

Seeing that Gu Chao didn't avoid Lu Ming, Lin Cong took out several guns: "Four 92s, two 64s, and a 79 submachine gun. I took five boxes of bullets each, and three walkie-talkies."

Gu Chao took the submachine gun and looked at it from left to right. It was an old-fashioned domestic submachine gun, equipped with a silencer, and was still usable.

Each of them was given a 92 rifle, and they went to the shadows nearby to reload bullets, avoiding people. The submachine gun was given to Zhang Rui, after all, he had the best accuracy.

Gu Chao loaded the bullets, stood up and sat next to Lu Ming, and quietly handed her a 64.

Lu Ming held the gun handle with a dazed look on his face. "Give it to...give it to me? I don't know how to use it."

"Press here to release the safety, look here to aim, and remember..."

She adjusted her grip on the gun and finally asked, "Do you understand?"

In fact, this behavior is very risky. People who don’t know how to use guns are particularly prone to accidental injuries at the beginning, but now they can’t care about that anymore.

Lu Ming has a strong learning ability. He has understood all the theoretical knowledge and the only thing left is to put it into practice.

She concealed her joy and was about to put the gun back into the holster, but was held down by Gu Chao.

She looked confused. Why did you change your mind so quickly?

He looked at her steadily, his dark eyes seemed to be able to see through her heart: "Don't do anything stupid."

Lu Ming was shocked, but he smiled dryly and said, "What are you talking about? How could I do such a stupid thing?"

Gu Chao didn't answer, but just looked at her quietly.

Lu Ming slowly stopped smiling, lowered his eyes, and didn't dare to look him in the eye.

It turns out he knew.

But what else could she do? A strange time and space, strange people, a fragile body, and a terrifying enemy.

How else could she live except clinging like vines to these people she met by chance and who had no responsibility at all for her life or death?

It would be better to take a gamble on that unknown opportunity. As long as I can return to the real world, everything will be back on track.

She pursed her lips and opened her mouth to say something, but in the end, nothing came out.

Lu Ming's silence obviously did not satisfy Gu Chao. He pursed his lips and said, "Don't give up, okay?"

She looked up and saw Gu Chao's calm eyes were full of strength, which seemed to soothe her panicked and fragile heart.

Lu Ming looked back at him, a little moist red slowly appeared at the corners of his eyes, and he nodded after a while.

They are all good people.

Unfortunately, she really wanted to go home and didn't want to stay in this damn place.

Besides, how long can they carry me with them? One day, they will find that they are useless and just a burden.

What would they do then? Put themselves up in some survivors' camp?

Rather than being abandoned by them, it is better to say goodbye as soon as possible.

Moreover, to them, she was just a passerby. Even if she left, she would fade from their memory in a few days...

She thought a lot in her mind, but it seemed as if she was thinking of nothing.

The blood loss made her feel a little dizzy, and the fatigue and pain from a day's running around roared in her body again. She closed her eyes and didn't want to move a finger.

As the night deepened, the second floor gradually became quiet. Accompanied by the howling wind outside, as well as the occasional shouts of people and the roars of zombies, she gradually fell into an uneasy light sleep.

Lin Cong was on guard in the second half of the night. He stroked the gun at his waist, his face unusually serious, and patrolled back and forth silently.

"Screech...Bang!" The harsh sound of brakes was followed by a huge collision, and the ground seemed to shake twice.

"What's wrong? What's wrong?" People in the mall suddenly panicked.

Gu Chao stood up, gestured to the others, and walked to Lin Cong. They both looked out the window.

"Why are there still people driving a bus around so late at night?" Lin Cong looked at the overturned car lying across the street with a serious face. "Things are tricky. Hangzi's previous route was to drive the car next to it through this road." Lin Cong nodded with his chin and saw a small black car parked outside the iron wall surrounded by decoration, with a part of the car's rear end exposed.

Gu Chao looked at the heavily congested road and said, "Go around from the small road."

Lin Cong added: "You can't go out the back door anymore, it's blocked by a lot of zombies..."

The two were planning a new route when they saw the bus door being kicked open with great force. Several people desperately squeezed out and ran towards this side.

The person in front suddenly looked up and saw the fire on the second floor and the figure by the window, and a look of surprise appeared on his face.

Gu Chao and Lin Congze looked at each other, oh no!

They immediately turned around and ran downstairs. Halfway down the stairs, they heard someone outside yelling, "Open the door! Open the door quickly! Help!"

The rolling door at the main entrance was slammed with a loud clang. Lin Cong was so angry that his veins popped out, and he wanted to strangle them to death. Fuck, what idiots are they? They are courting death and want to hurt others. Are they afraid that the zombies won't know there are people here by making such a loud noise?

The two of them moved away the pile of things blocking the side door, and Gu Chao protected Lin Cong as they rushed out.

Sure enough, behind them, the zombies that were originally wandering around were attracted by the sounds.

Several people were brought in one after another. The man in the lead was probably in his 30s. Seeing Gu Chao and Lin Cong locked the door and wanted to go upstairs, he hurried over to talk to them.

"Thank you! My name is Zhao Hong, and we are..."

Before he could finish, he was interrupted by Lin Cong, "Shut up! If you keep talking nonsense, I'll throw you out!" He warned them coldly and left without looking back.

The man's face flushed and he looked angry, but he didn't dare to say anything.

After going upstairs, Gu Chao urgently called the team to a meeting.

After briefly explaining the current situation, Gu Chao said solemnly, "In short, we are surrounded."

Yan Song scratched his head irritably. "So now we can't drive around the front? Then what if we just climb over the iron wall?"

Gu Chao shook his head, "The time is too short."

The iron wall fence was more than three meters high and had no fulcrums. They had no tools and could not climb over it in a short time.

Zhang Rui asked: "What should we do? There will definitely be more and more zombies here. We can't wait."

Gu Chao was silent for a while, then raised his head and said, "I'll go to the main gate to distract them. You guys take the opportunity to break out and go to the small path to the south."

"No! How can you lead so many people? You are going to die!" Yan Song was the first to disagree.

Lin Congye hurriedly said, "Yes, if anyone wants to lead them, I'll be the one to do it. I run the fastest."

Yan Song glared at him and said, "No one can go! The zombies are all gathered together, where can we lead them? Captain, I don't agree."

Zhang Rui nodded fiercely: "Don't forget we still have submachine guns. I'll lead the way. If everyone runs faster, we should be able to get out."

Gu Chao replied: "We can, but what about them?" He glanced at the two groups of people over there.

Everyone was silent. How could they have forgotten these people?

If it were just the five of them, breaking out would be easy, but if these civilians were added, there would definitely be casualties. If they ignored these people, once they broke out, these people would really be trapped...

Although they had no mission, they couldn't just watch these people die.

Gu Chao looked at the conflicted expressions of the others and said solemnly, "Alright, it's settled. I'll lead them away, and you wait for my signal. I know my limits."

Seeing they were about to object, he frowned and said, "This is an order."

"yes!"

Finally, Gu Chao glanced at Lu Ming who was still sleeping soundly and ordered Yan Song, "You will be responsible for carrying her while I'm away."

Yan Song patted his chest and said, "Don't worry, I will protect my sister."

For fear of waking her up, the others lowered their voices and prepared to break out at dawn.

However, no one noticed that the eyes that were buried in the arms and closed tightly, the eyelashes trembled a few times, and then returned to calm.

As the sky brightened, everyone became nervous. After packing up their things, Gu Chao called Lin Cong to explain their plan to the two groups.

After some effort, we finally made them realize the seriousness of the problem and repeatedly emphasized that they must obey orders.

When the two came back, Gu Chao was about to take action when he suddenly realized something was wrong, "Where's Lu Ming?"

He looked around but didn't see her, only her backpack on the ground.

Zhang Rui replied: "She said she was going to find the restroom."

Gu Chao nodded slightly and began to explain the details of the task.

But somehow, I felt uneasy.

After waiting for five minutes, he felt something was wrong and was about to go look for someone when he suddenly heard a gunshot downstairs.

Everyone was stunned. Who fired the gun downstairs? Their eyes met, and they all thought of the same thing: Lu Ming! What was she trying to do?!

Lu Ming opened the passenger door of the black car, shot the big brother who rushed out of the car, and then kicked the body out.

She sat in the driver's seat, taking deep breaths, her trembling hands on the steering wheel.

Think about it, think about it quickly, how do you drive this kind of car?!

But it was no use, she still couldn't remember anything.

Sweat broke out on her forehead, and her wet hair stuck to her temples. She took a deep breath and prepared herself mentally.

Don't panic, calm down, you've played the game, you've driven it.

The first step is... ignition! Next, pull the parking brake, apply the brake, and voila! Start!

She was pleasantly surprised to find it was an automatic! Just step on the gas and it's done!

The moment the vehicle started moving, she breathed a sigh of relief.

She heard the whole thing last night and didn't think it had anything to do with her at first. But when she got up in the middle of the night to take care of her physiological problems, she took a curious look and unexpectedly saw a small gap in the iron wall, which she could squeeze out of with her figure.

At that moment, she thought, what a coincidence.

It seemed like it was God's will, or as if she understood the plot in an instant. The moment she saw the gap, a voice in her heart told her to drive.

As soon as this thought came to her mind, she suddenly became nervous, her heart pounding, making her head dizzy.

As for what to do with the car? She actually hadn't decided yet.

This question has been lingering in her mind, and even now, with her foot on the accelerator, she has not yet come up with an answer.

Her mind was blank, but her body seemed to have self-awareness and rushed all the way to the main entrance of the mall.

Several zombies were knocked over by the force, but they were still struggling to get up and move towards the car door.

She seemed to see Gu Chao and the others rushing out from the side of the building. The orderly sound of gunfire one after another restored some of her ability to think.

She waited nervously for them to break through, her palms so hot and clammy that she could barely hold the steering wheel.

She looked around. The car windows were slammed by the zombies that were climbing up. Some zombies in front of the main gate that were not attracted by the gunshots and the zombies wandering on the street outside began to surround her from all directions and kept approaching their breakfast.

No! If this goes on, the vehicle will be trapped here before anyone can get on, and Gu Chao and his team will have to face even more zombies.

Looking at those distorted faces, in a time and space that seemed to be stretched and slowed down, she made a decision.
