"We seem to have met before."
In the dimly lit interrogation room, the man in uniform with a beard looked at Shen Qian a few more times before slowly speaking.
"museum?"
Before sinking, I thought back and remembered something.
The incident at the museum that day happened when the man in front of me led a group of police officers in to conduct an investigation.
“My name is Song Ye, you can call me Captain Song.” The man nodded and flipped through the statement he had just taken. “So it seems you really are a senior high school student at Jingcheng No. 7 Middle School.”
"Can I leave now?"
“No, that won’t do. Let’s wait for your teacher to come. After all, you’re not an adult yet, and it’s against the rules.” Song Ye shook his head.
Upon hearing this, Shen Qian could only continue to wait. Fortunately, when he made the call earlier, Shen Qian chose to notify the school's homeroom teacher. As long as the aftermath of Liu Simin's matter was handled properly, the impact could be minimized.
"According to your account, the two scavengers got into a fight for some reason, and you attacked the other one when one of them fell down?"
Song Ye flipped through the interrogation record again and asked with great interest.
He nodded, unwilling to say more.
Song Ye seemed to be thinking about something, and asked Shen Qian a few more questions. However, Shen Qian, who had already prepared his answers on the way here, insisted that he had accidentally fallen into the sewer and then bumped into the scavengers who were fighting amongst themselves.
Bang! Bang!
A knock sounded, the iron door opened, and Liu Simin, wearing a trench coat, appeared at the door of the interrogation room, followed by a police officer.
"Teacher Liu!"
He shouted before sinking.
Liu Simin, carrying two pieces of clothing, walked in and looked Shen Qian over. Seeing that Shen Qian was not injured, she breathed a sigh of relief and scolded, "What happened? How did you run into a scavenger?"
"Let's talk about it after we get out," Shen Qian said with a wry smile.
Liu Simin nodded, exchanged a few more words with Song Ye, and then took Shen to complete the formalities while changing out of her dirty clothes.
Everything was settled, and Shen Qian was about to follow Liu Simin outside when a voice called out from behind, "Wait a minute."
"Is there anything else?" Liu Simin pulled Shen Qian back and turned to ask.
Song Ye stared at Shen Qian for a few moments, and just as Shen Qian was on guard, he suddenly smiled and said, "I almost forgot, this time the wanted notice for the scavengers is worth 5,000 yuan for each person below the level of a beginner martial artist. Two of them would be 10,000 yuan. I would like to trouble you to leave your bank card number, Shen Qian, so we can transfer the money to you later."
A prize of 10,000?
Is there really such a good thing?
Shen Qian's eyes lit up, but he hesitated and said, "I didn't kill the person, so this doesn't seem right, does it?"
"You don't want it?" Song Ye was taken aback. "That's fine then, we'll donate it to..."
"China Construction Bank, thank you."
...
In the corridor, watching the two figures disappear around the corner, the police officer in charge of recording the case details couldn't help but say, "Boss, are we really just going to let him go like that?"
What are you trying to say?
"There are many suspicious points at the scene. There are clearly two signs of a struggle, but he said it was just the two of them fighting amongst themselves..."
"Have you looked at your medical report?" Song Ye interrupted him.
"I saw it."
"Then let me ask you, if your guess is correct, how do you think a student with a physical strength of only close to 130kg could kill two stronger scavengers in a head-on confrontation?"
Song Ye also looked puzzled. "Judging from the traces at the scene, one of the people's explosive strength even exceeded 140kg, which is very close to the threshold of the initial martial artist. How is that possible?"
"You know, this is a life-or-death battle!"
After a long silence, another police officer finally spoke: "Unless there is a fourth person..."
"But he didn't, did he?" Song Ye exhaled a breath of stale air. "If you can't figure it out, then don't think about it anymore. In any case, he didn't do anything bad, right?"
"Let's go. According to our initial estimate, there are at least a dozen scavengers lurking in the city, including some real martial artists. Our mission is still very important."
Song Ye patted the other person on the shoulder and turned to leave first.
...
At the entrance of the police station.
It was already late at night, and the sky was full of stars.
"Are you sure you don't need your teacher to take you home?" Liu Simin asked again after hailing a taxi.
"Really, no need. It's not far from my home. I can go back by myself," Shen Qian said, waving his hand.
"Okay, then I'll be leaving." Liu Simin thought for a moment and then added, "I will keep this a secret for you, but if you feel uncomfortable about anything afterward, remember to tell me anytime."
According to Shen Qian's account, he just happened to be passing by and witnessed the life-or-death struggle between two scavengers before the police arrived and brought him back with them.
Liu Simin was clearly worried that Chen Qian, who had never experienced anything like this before, might have some psychological trauma.
Liu Simin paid the fare for Shen Qian, and the taxi slowly started moving. Shen Qian waved to Liu Simin through the glass before turning around and leaning back in his seat, recalling the events of the day.
He still had a business card from Song Ye in his pocket. Shen Qian had a good impression of this sharp-looking captain. In fact, he knew that his hasty explanation was full of loopholes, but the other party did not seem to intend to investigate further.
Back home, after answering a few of my mother's questions, I went straight to my bedroom, locked the door, summoned the system, and then opened tonight's AFK (away from keyboard) logs.
You pushed Ding Yi away and left under the pretext of having urgent business (20:51)
You went to the adjacent alley and opened the manhole cover to enter the sewer pipe (20:53).
