"Hernando..."
Zefa pondered the name, his gaze drifting into the distance.
"What, do you know each other?" Kuro asked.
"Ah... if it's that guy."
Zefa touched his pocket and pulled out an old life paper, which slowly moved in one direction in his palm.
"I hope it's not you, otherwise..."
Anger flashed in his eyes. He let out a low growl and followed the direction of the Life Paper.
"teacher!"
Ain and Binz followed, and at that moment, a large number of navy personnel disembarked from the ship, also preparing to follow.
"Wait a minute."
Kuro grabbed a lieutenant, pulled him aside by the back of the neck, and pointed at the town, saying, "Take some men and protect this town. This will be my base from now on, and it can't be lost. Organize the navy to provide disaster relief to the civilians, and while you're at it, clean up the town."
"Yes, Colonel!"
Since they were ultimately from the same system, the lieutenant dared not refuse an order from a colonel. He saluted and led a group of naval personnel to clean up.
“Mr. Kuro, we…” Kuro asked.
Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke and followed Zephyr. "Of course we're going to take a look. After all, it's my base island."
Well, I'm still angry.
Lida and Kro had no choice but to obediently follow.
"Professor Zefa, why are you so concerned about the name Hernando? Is that his life certificate?"
On the way, Ain asked curiously.
Zefa didn't speak, and walked on in silence.
"Hey, Kuro, why is Zephyr so quiet? Does he know that Hernando guy?"
Lida whispered from behind.
"Isn't that obvious?"
Kuro said, "It's bound to be melodramatic. For example, a former admiral once took on a disciple who wanted to join the Navy, but the disciple ended up becoming a pirate. Or, according to his principles, he once encountered a pirate, fought fiercely, became both enemy and friend, exchanged Vivre Papers, and ended up with a thrilling epic at sea."
The older generation of naval personnel had dealt with pirates extensively, and their relationships were often a mix of friend and foe.
Sengoku and Whitebeard, Garp and Roger—it's perfectly normal for these former admirals to have connections with any pirate.
As for whether Kuro recognizes them or not, there are plenty of pirates on the high seas that he doesn't know.
For a troublesome person like this, Zephyr's arrival is just in time.
"Kuro, don't talk nonsense. I can still hear you."
Zephyr said something, then paused for a moment before saying, "I am a Marine who upholds justice, and no matter what happens, it will not break my beliefs..."
"oh?"
Kuro narrowed his eyes and said meaningfully, "That's really remarkable, Mr. Zephyr. But sometimes, beliefs are nothing compared to the cruelty of the sea."
"The cruelty of the sea?"
Zephyr scoffed, "What do you know, kid? I've dealt with more pirates than you've eaten meals."
Kuro shrugged. "Just a sigh."
Such a strong person's conviction cannot be swayed by a few words; otherwise, why has he maintained his 'no-kill' policy for so many years?
Zephyr is in big trouble.
His wife and children were killed by pirates when he was young. Because of his actions, high-ranking officers in the Navy began to refer to him by code names, and even built family buildings in Marineford.
Zephyr then placed his hopes on the new generation of marines, but his students were killed by pirates, shattering another of Zephyr's hopes and causing the elite battalion of the marines to vanish in the coming years.
Not to mention that it won't be long before the World Government betrays him again, making the pirate who once slaughtered his students a Shichibukai, shattering Zephyr's beliefs completely.
If Kuro had been subjected to this kind of mental torture repeatedly, he would have broken down long ago; he admitted that he had a weak mentality.
He'll get back at whoever messes with him. If they mess with him during the day, he'll get back at them that night. He never lets it go on overnight.
The direction of the Life Paper was forward, and Kuro could already see black smoke rising from the opposite side of a mountain peak ahead.
This scene made him frown.
"Kuro, a large group of people are gathering ahead," Lida said, sensing something.
Kuro spat out the end of his cigar, lit another one, and said calmly, "It's a pity that they weren't all gathered together, otherwise it would have been completely peaceful."
If they were all gathered together, it wouldn't be so troublesome; a single flood would sweep them all away. But the key is that the pirates and civilians on the island are all together. With his current abilities, he can only do close-range micro-management, not long-range operations. It would be easy for him to wipe out the civilians as well.
Zefa walked forward, then suddenly stopped and subconsciously looked towards the mountain peak.
"fire!"
A loud shout came from the mountain peak, from which numerous cannons appeared, aimed directly at the navy below, and began to fire.
Boom boom boom!
A large number of shells were rained down on this side.
"It's a cannon!"
"Retreat immediately!"
"Oh no, it's too late!"
The navy was horrified; there was no way to dodge the shells.
boom!
Suddenly, the ground shook, and an earthen wall adorned with a lion's head sculpture rose up in front of them, blocking the bombardment.
Within the mountain peak, a tremor erupted, and the peak seemed to come alive, transforming into a lion with its mouth agape, swallowing the pirates and cannons whole. As it twisted and writhed, the lion's head pushed inward, and clumps of blood squeezed out from the cracks in the rocks, leaving the mountain deathly still.
This scene left everyone speechless.
"this..."
