Chapter 25
Compared to the house in the Lily of the Valley district, the teachers' dormitory seemed rather cramped. Even in this crisis, Nan Ya Yin was still thinking that if there weren't enough rooms, wouldn't she have to sleep with Qiao Yan? Although they had slept together before, it was because he was in heat then. If he slept with her now...
However, this did not actually happen.
The teachers' dormitory was originally designed so that two teachers could live together, but since most teachers have their own homes in Bailuxing, this room became Qiao Yan's alone.
The two bedrooms weren't large, but they were more than enough for sleeping. Qiao Yan pointed to a south-facing room with a window and said, "You and Shuyin can stay here."
Nan Yayin nodded blankly, "Okay."
"Xiao Lu and I are in another room. You can come find me if you need anything. I won't lock the door." After Qiao Yan finished speaking, she started tidying up. This room was used to be the place where she lived most of the time, but it was left unused until later. She would stay here sometimes when she didn't have time to go home.
"I understand." Nan Yayin clenched her fists, still ashamed of her own fantasies.
You are absolutely forbidden to think about these things again!
Xiao Lu brought food with her from home and is now cleaning the kitchen to prepare a meal.
By the time the three of them sat down at the table to eat, night had already quietly fallen.
"Are you going to the hospital with Shuyin for her follow-up appointment the day after tomorrow?" Nan Yayin asked. What if they get shot as soon as they go out?
Qiao Yan nodded. "Go."
"What if someone is lying in wait to kill you?" He put down his rice bowl. He had read those detective books, and the methods of murder were varied.
Qiao Yan comforted him, "Right now they're just sending threatening letters, which proves they don't have the guts yet. They know you're in my house, so they might think you're my partner. I'm just worried they might do something to you."
Rather, it's more accurate to say they lacked the guts to even consider using Nan Ya Yin to threaten her. Think about it, if they could have done it a few years ago, they would have killed her.
"You haven't had a proper chance to explore the new district yet, have you? After your checkup, where should we go for a walk?" Qiao Yan looked at Nan Shuyin. "Shuyin, is there anywhere you'd like to go?"
Nan Yayin bit her chopsticks, "What partner? Don't talk nonsense."
Qiao Yan: "?"
Nan Shuyin also looked at him, "Brother, we were talking about where to go to play."
Was he the only one at the table who felt like he was sitting on pins and needles? Nan Yayin's hands trembled with anger as she held her chopsticks, and she finally managed to squeeze out, "Whatever."
Qiao Yan turned her head away, suppressing a laugh.
"Then I want to go to the park! Xiaolu told me there's a big park in the new district, and I want to swing on the swings." Nan Shuyin's little head darted back and forth between the two of them. "Is that okay?"
Qiao Yan wanted to nod, but Nan Ya Yin was so embarrassed and annoyed that her soul seemed to leave her body. She looked at Nan Ya Yin and asked, "Is it okay?"
"Why are you asking me?" Nan Ya Yin wanted to run away as fast as she could. "Go away, go away!"
"Then let's go to that park," Qiao Yan said to her with a smile.
"Um!"
Nan Shuyin is a very well-behaved child. She is obedient and sensible and does not cause trouble for others. Knowing that she will be going to the park the day after tomorrow, her unhappiness about going to the hospital has been swept away. She is ready to go back and continue to study the knowledge lessons for school.
"It came back positive, it's just pig's blood, nothing special," Shu Juan said on the other end of the phone. "I thought I had made a mistake and was trying to do a thorough test for you, just in case it was something else."
"Thank you. How much does the test cost?"
"Get lost! Don't talk to me about this."
"I'm afraid that one day your machine won't be able to start."
"Get out of the way! What do you need this for?"
"Let's confirm the time. Pig's blood takes at least half an hour to coagulate. I can try to find a nearby farm."
"What if he added something to it?"
Qiao Yan said firmly, "The person behind this is just trying to scare me with a broken leg. There's no need for that. I need to find the middleman and ask him carefully first."
"Has the police said anything?"
Qiao Yan looked at the sent documents and said, "The severed limbs sent were made of rubber. There are so many factories that it's difficult to investigate them even on Bailu Star, let alone other planets."
There were no fingerprints or serial numbers on the severed limb, and it was a time when the enemy was in the dark and we were in the light.
Going out to play is like making yourself a moving target, but Qiao Yan knows all too well that constantly avoiding these people will only make them more and more unscrupulous.
When the day arrived, Qiao Yan woke up in the morning and saw a letter slipped under her door. Without hesitation, she opened the door and saw only a fleeing figure.
She threw the water glass she was using to wash her face, hitting the man in the back. In the instant of the pain, Qiao Yan had already grabbed him and dragged him into the dormitory.
"Let me go!" The person was young, probably a student, or even from school. "I'm calling the police!"
"Of course you can call the police." Qiao Yan didn't even glance at him. "But guess who the police will listen to?"
Qiao Yan threw the person into the house, just as Nan Ya Yin heard the noise and came out of the bathroom.
"Good morning," Qiao Yan greeted Xiao Lu and then said, "Tell him to sit properly in his chair."
"What are you doing! Using vigilante justice is illegal!" the young man shouted, but he was no match for the robot and was pinned to the chair, unable to move.
“Sending threatening letters is also illegal.” Qiao Yan pulled out the student list and identified a name called “Zhuang Lan”.
"Zhuang Lan, a second-year nutrition student, 20 years old, male Beta." Qiao Yan read out his identity information accurately. "Do you think you can graduate safely after doing something like this?"
"You're threatening me! You're not my teacher!" Zhuang Lan tried to throw a punch, but Xiao Lu grabbed her hand.
“This has nothing to do with whether I am your teacher or not; you are committing a crime.” Qiao Yan tapped the letter. “Threatening, intimidating, or even attempting to murder a teacher, you should be expelled from the school immediately.”
People who help send threatening letters are usually driven by curiosity, lack of money, or a grudge against Qiao Yan. Aside from the last one, the first two would likely consider whether their own future is more important.
"Murder!" Zhuang Lan exclaimed in horror. "What murder? What intimidation? I don't know anything! I only did it because I heard I could get money!"
really.
Qiao Yan told Xiao Lu to let go of him, "As long as you tell me what you know, this matter has nothing to do with you."
Zhuang Lan had no grudge against Qiao Yan; it was just a small amount of money, so there was no need for him to hide it or rack his brains to recall it.
“Someone called me, but I really don’t know who it was. It sounded like a man,” Zhuang Lan quickly said. “A week ago, he asked me to pick up a few letters from the school gate and put them in for you every three days.”
"A man?" Nan Ya Yin sat down next to her. "You've become a man?"
Zhuang Lan then noticed that there was another person in the room, and realizing his relationship with Qiao Yan, he didn't dare to speak.
“I mentioned before that there was more than one person,” Qiao Yan explained, then asked Zhuang Lan, “You haven’t seen him?”
“No, I’ve never seen him even once.” Zhuang Lan shook her head rapidly. “Besides, the voice he heard on the receiver was actually very strange; it could be a faked voice.”
Qiao Yan turned on the terminal and said, "Write down your contact information, and I will contact you anytime."
Zhuang Lan tremblingly left her terminal number, "How would I know it was you? He called from an unknown number."
“There will be a way. Go back now and continue to contact him, but don’t tell anyone you’ve seen me.” Qiao Yan looked at him. “You don’t want to know the consequences.”
Zhuang Lan didn't dare to move even without someone holding him down. Qiao Yan wasn't scary-looking at all; in fact, she was gentle and kind. One glance at her would make people feel good, if it weren't for those empty, lifeless eyes staring at him.
He knew, of course, that Qiao Yan had once been a member of the military. As people said, she had killed countless alien creatures, and the calm and imposing aura she exuded was something she could never shake off.
Who would dare to murder her? Zhuang Lan wondered. Who could possibly want to oppose her? He didn't count. He thought it was some kind of prank and never imagined it would escalate to a face-to-face confrontation.
"Want to stay for breakfast?" Qiao Yan asked, seeing that he wasn't leaving.
Zhuang Lan felt the oppressive atmosphere around him disappear, and he immediately stood up. "No need, you're too kind. I'll be leaving now."
The door closed gently, and Nan Ya Yin turned her head, chewing something, and asked her, "Why is he so afraid of you?"
"He's not afraid of me, he's afraid he won't graduate." Qiao Yan lowered her eyes and smiled. "What do I have to be afraid of?"
Nan Yayin nodded. He didn't think Qiao Yan was scary at all. Her pheromones smelled like cream, soft and sweet. Who would be afraid of her?
"Won't you alert them by talking to them like that today?" Nan Yayin was a little worried. If those people found out that Qiao Yan wanted to find them out, they would target her even more.
Qiao Yan shook his head. "We're already in the open; they can see everything we do. Now, offense is defense."
She tore open the envelope, and sure enough, there was another printed sheet of paper inside. This time, it read: "We've been watching you all along; it's no use going anywhere."
Qiao Yan just put it aside after reading it, right? Then she really needs them to keep an eye on her. The more they do, the more traces they leave, and she'll eventually find that little spider web.
When Nan Shuyin went to the hospital, she begged Qiao Yan to take Xiao Lu with her. During the time when her brother couldn't take care of her, Xiao Lu was always there for her, and she considered her best friend. Of course, she wanted to take her along when she went out. Seeing Nan Shuyin's pleading look, even Xiao Lu, the housework robot who didn't need to go out, started "begging" Qiao Yan.
Qiao Yan would of course agree, and Nan Shuyin cheered as Xiao Lu lifted her high in the air.
Nan Yayin looked at the person and the machine and said, "Both your robot and you are weirdos."
“Xiao Lu is my family, and I’m so glad it met someone who understands it.” Qiao Yan patted Nan Shuyin’s head.
The examination results were excellent. Because the child had sufficient rest and nutrition, and combined with the child's naturally strong healing ability, the bones healed very well. The child can start exercising slowly in a month.
Nan Shuyin was still shy and reserved, but now that she was surrounded by many people, the innocent joy of childhood made her ask the doctor, "So, will I be able to go to school soon?"
"As long as you take your medicine properly and exercise hard, you'll be able to play with your good friends soon," the doctor teased her, taking two candies out of his pocket and giving them to her.
She hesitated, then looked back at Nan Ya Yin, wanting to ask him what to do. Nan Ya Yin gently patted her, "Say thank you, doctor."
"Thank you, doctor!" Nan Shuyin accepted the milk candy.
After getting into the hovercar, Qiao Yan said to the hovercar, "Let's go to Xuan Niao Paradise."
