When Qin Nuo closed the door, his mother had sat down at the door again, staring blankly ahead, as if she was looking at something.
"Mom, I bought you some pancakes."
Qin Nuo tore off the cardboard, blew on it, made sure it was not hot, and handed it over.
My mother said calmly, "Aunt Xuan has already prepared the meal. Why are you buying these?"
"Aunt Xuan..." Qin Nuo was puzzled, and the memory of Aunt Xuan emerged in his mind.
When my father was alive, she was the old sister-in-law who was in charge of the meals for the employees in the tailor shop. She had no children, and my parents treated her very well. After my father died, Aunt Xuan took pity on my mother who was blind. Coincidentally, her house was nearby, so she took on the cooking job and did it for more than ten years.
Li Sha wanted to pay Aunt Xuan several times, but Aunt Xuan refused to accept it. As long as Li Sha bought some vegetables, she would come over to cook them and it wouldn't be a problem.
Li Sha was filled with gratitude towards Aunt Xuan, but he had no ability and could never repay her kindness.
As for why Li Sha's mother became blind, it was because she cried every day after her father died, and finally became blind.
"Try it. You bought it anyway." Qin Nuo said.
The mother could sense the heat and aroma of the pancakes, but ignored them and asked, "Are you sure the door is locked?"
"The bolt is pushed up." Qin Nuo said.
"Add another big lock and lock it."
"Why?" Qin Nuo asked puzzledly.
"At night, someone will come in. Although I can't see, I can hear clearly." The mother peeled the peanuts in her hand and said towards the door.
"Who is it? What are you doing here?"
"Anyway, it's not your father, it's only those few. Your mother knows exactly what they are planning." said the mother.
Qin Nuo wanted to ask something, but his mother gestured, "Do as I say."
Qin Nuo had no choice but to get up and walk towards the door. He took a big lock, wrapped it around the bolt, and locked it tightly.
The mother listened to the sound, confirmed that it was locked, smiled slightly, and raised her hand: "You are my good son. Come, have two peanuts."
Qin Nuo took a look at it, picked it up and put it in his mouth. It was a bit dry, it was raw peanuts.
Life in the Republic of China was always boring. There were no mobile phones and no internet. After Qin Nuo had dinner, he saw his mother still sitting in the courtyard, holding a palm-leaf fan in one hand, muttering something in the moonlight.
Qin Nuo watched, wondering what the thing that Li Sha's mother was talking about was stolen?
Human or ghost?
What is the purpose of coming in?
With doubts, the sky outside was gradually replaced by darkness.
At night, in the dilapidated house, there is only a white candle lit on the table. The flickering yellow candlelight drives away the dark night.
Qin Nuo wanted to sit and wait until late at night, but his mother held an oil lamp and said, "It's almost time to go to bed. If you are healthy tomorrow, get up early and pull the cart. Now that your father is not at home, we have to rely on you to make a living."
Qin Nuo thought for a moment and then asked, "Mom, I'm under a lot of pressure. When will Dad come back?"
"Who knows? Your father is just so eccentric and stubborn."
Qin Nuo blinked and said, "I was reading and almost fell asleep."
"It's useless to practice calligraphy or read books if the family background is not right."
Mother took the mahogany cane, shook her head, and walked towards her room.
Qin Nuo had a strange expression on his face. What did reading a book have to do with these words?
After waiting for a while, Qin Nuo was indeed a little sleepy. He glanced outside the door and saw a quiet scene. The hazy moonlight poured into the courtyard, making it look gloomy and lonely.
In the room, Qin Nuo took off his shirt and lay down on the bed. The stiff wooden board made his waist feel uncomfortable, but he couldn't resist the sleepiness and slowly closed his eyes.
Late at night, the window was blown open by the wind. Qin Nuo turned over and woke up slowly.
I was not woken up by the night wind, but by a dry mouth. People in this era drink water easily. They just turn on the tap and drink.
I reached out and touched the wall, turned on the switch, and the old-fashioned light bulb in the corner of the ceiling flickered. The tungsten filament had been burning for who knows how long, and it could only emit a limited light the size of a palm.
There was no other way, Qin Nuo could only hold the oil lamp and pour a bowl of water. As soon as he took a sip, he heard some strange noises in his ears.
The sound came from the gate outside the courtyard.
When Qin Nuo turned his head, the voice disappeared in the wind.
When the atmosphere around him became quiet, Qin Nuo hesitated whether to go out and take a look.
Hesitation is not fear of ghosts.
But I'm afraid it will run away.
After hesitating for a moment, Qin Nuo put down the clay bowl and walked towards the door. As soon as he placed his hand on the door, a faint voice lingered in his ears.
It sounded like a woman's laughter, or whispering.
Qin Nuo raised his eyebrows and suddenly took a few steps back.
His expression changed.
Because from his perspective, he could clearly see a figure appear outside the paper-pasted window.
Move slowly.
Maybe it was getting closer, the tiny sound could be heard clearly.
"Lisa... Lisa..."
Isn't it just calling your own name?
