Ye Chu received the news of filming the third episode on the night the third episode of the first season of Bao Chang aired. It is said that director Wang Zhongbao's wife's condition had stabilized, which is why he dared to leave the hospital to continue filming.
"Is Director Wang's wife very ill?" Ye Chu couldn't help but ask in the group chat. After a while, Qian Yiyi popped up to reply: "Yes, it seems to be a liver problem? I heard it was discovered quite late, so..."
Liver... Ye Chu stared at the two words on the screen, somewhat lost in thought.
Unfortunately, too many years have passed, and her memory has become very blurry; she can't recall it at all.
After Qian Yiyi finished speaking, an awkward silence fell over the group chat. Finally, Michael jumped in to ease the tension: "Hey, let's not discuss such sad things. Everyone get ready, see you tomorrow afternoon!"
Qian Yiyi: Okay, see you tomorrow.
Wan Chen: See you tomorrow
Zhang Zesheng: See you tomorrow. I'm still in Y City right now, just finished an interview. I'm going to buy some local specialties later, I'll bring some back for you tomorrow.
Ye Chu: Okay, see you all tomorrow!
That night, Ye Chu had a less than pleasant dream.
In her dream, the fog was thick, and she saw her parents, who had passed away long ago, on a lawn in a park.
"Xiao Chu, you and... don't go too far, be careful." With whom?
"You need to be back before 4:30... Please take care of Xiao Chu." Who? Please take care of me?
"Yes, I will." That voice...
Startled awake, Ye Chu lay in bed feeling a tightness in her chest and shortness of breath. She couldn't remember the voices from her dream, but the fleeting palpitation she felt was unforgettable.
If you think about it carefully, you can still remember something. It was when she was very young... Her parents would often take her out to play on weekends, to parks, amusement parks, and sometimes to mountains.
But all of that faded into the distance with the passing of the two people and the passage of time. Later, she was adopted by her aunt, left her original home, and went to live in another city.
As she grew up, she seemed to never ask about her parents or her childhood. Was it because she was too young then? Too young to understand life and death, or grief… so she didn't have much of a feeling about death itself. Although she would cry and say she missed her parents, she was easily comforted.
"It seems like I've never been sad about their deaths." Ye Chu pointed to the teddy bear in her arms, its round eyes meeting hers. "If I didn't care when I was little because I didn't understand, then why do I never mention it now?"
She hadn't cried in a long time, but this time was different. The tears welled up on their own. Even though she didn't feel particularly sad, the tears kept flowing and soaked her pillow.
Perhaps because she had been crying, Ye Chu's eyes were still swollen when she boarded the plane during the day. Chang Ji hurriedly applied a cold towel to her eyes to try to reduce the swelling as soon as possible.
"What happened to you? Your eyes are so swollen, you almost couldn't pass through security."
"It's not that serious." Ye Chu took the towel and applied it to her own face. "I had a bad dream last night and couldn't help it."
"What kind of dream was that made you cry like this?" Changji frowned as she looked at her eyes, which had become slightly less swollen.
"I don't remember much about what happened when I was little. I guess this is to make up for the tears I owed more than ten or twenty years ago," Ye Chu said with a smile. Although she didn't want to cry like this, she felt much better after crying.
Changji didn't reply. She watched Ye Chu slowly fall asleep with a towel on her face before leaning back in her chair and letting out a sigh of relief. She knew a little about Ye Chu's past. She had noticed when she first saw Ye Chu's information that her aunt was listed as Ye Chu's family member, and that her aunt was the only one listed.
The flight to J City didn't take long. After quickly settling into the hotel, we immediately headed to the filming location. This time, the location was a bit special—it was a local hospital.
Everyone arrived almost at the same time, and the production crew had already turned on the cameras to film everyone entering.
"We're finally here, you dawdler! The kids got here much earlier than you." Wang Zhongbao joked as usual. Seeing him nod, the children immediately ran happily towards their familiar older brothers and sisters.
"Ah, Lulu! Your little braids are so cute today~" Michael squatted down, cupped Lulu's chubby cheeks in his hands, and gently rubbed them a couple of times: "Ah, this skin, so full of collagen, am I really getting old?"
Her series of interactions made everyone present burst into laughter.
"Alright, alright, we'll be spending several more days together, we can catch up later." Wang Zhongbao tapped the megaphone in his hand: "Everyone, look to your right behind you now."
"This is the hospital where you'll be staying tomorrow. This is also a group activity that we haven't used before in the program. Tomorrow will probably be very tiring, so everyone should get a good rest tonight."
"Director!" Ye Chu called out, "So what are we going to do tomorrow?"
"Good question, Xiao Chu." Wang Zhongbao slapped his thigh. "Tomorrow's mission isn't anything shady, so I'll tell you now. Tomorrow you'll be in contact with three special patients. Of course, don't worry about safety. The mission is simple: for the next three days, submit a report each day that will pass my review."
"Huh?" Michael exclaimed exaggeratedly in the video.
Zhang Zesheng silently complained to the camera: "Is this summer homework? This is definitely summer homework!"
Of course, even if everyone keeps complaining, the decided tasks will not change.
"Quiet down, listen to my requirements." Wang Zhongbao scratched his sparse hair. "Writing a reflection isn't easy, you know. My requirements are quite strict. Tomorrow, some pretty nurses will teach you how to interact with several patients. Aside from the parts with special professional requirements, the simpler stuff will be yours. You all need to study hard, understand?"
Everyone answered in unison, "Understood."
"Very good, then in order to play the footage, the camera will now follow you back to the hotel!"
The group exchanged glances, all understanding the implication in Wang Zhongbao's words: he was giving them a chance to shine, and they had to perform well later.
Ye Chu's PD got into the car back to the hotel with Ye Chu, and Chang Ji, who was sitting in the front seat, was already wearing a mask.
"Would you like some water?" Changji turned her head to the side and waved the water glass in her hand at Ye Chu.
"No, I'm not thirsty." As she spoke, Ye Chu turned her head and casually asked, "Mr. Li, would you like some water? There are disposable cups in the car."
Mr. Li is Ye Chu's producer.
