Chapter 17 No One Survives
There was no heartbeat for her.
There was only dead silence.
Her blood seemed to have solidified in every vein.
Miraculously, she is still alive.
She took a deep breath, walked to the door, and opened it.
"Manager, I'm here. What's going on?"
The manager, wearing a special radiation-proof suit, said with a smile, "Congratulations, Miss Yili, on your promotion again. You are now a Class B waiter. I've come here especially to familiarize you with the new work environment."
Get promoted again?
Yi Li couldn't believe it.
I almost lost my life, but I got promoted by accident.
Yili looked at the manager dancing with joy and asked curiously, "Can I ask how I got promoted?"
"Huh? Don't you know? You perfectly reported the extra waiter on the third floor. That wasn't just any waiter, it was a killer who sneaked in here. You helped us save the lives of many customers. Now, all the waiters know about your heroic deeds."
Yi Li closed his eyes with difficulty.
He took a deep breath and almost ran away.
She never reported him!
When did she become the great hero of this cruise ship?
Is this the gift that person was talking about?
Become the fatter mutton in the eyes of others.
What she was certain of was that those people who had been ready to make a move were now preparing to take action against her.
Although C-level waiters are tempting, they still have some concerns.
But for a B-level waiter, it's like a piece of delicious fresh mutton is thrown to a group of wolves that have been hungry for decades. The temptation is naturally self-evident.
What you can hold on to is a reward; what you can’t hold on to is a death warrant.
Her plans were disrupted unexpectedly.
From the moment the fighting began, all her arrangements needed a major overhaul.
"Ms. Yili, why are you standing there?"
It turned out that while she was thinking, the manager had already walked a distance.
She hurried after him.
"Manager, I'll be right there. Sorry."
Yi Li quickly followed his pace.
"Since you've been promoted from a C-class waiter to a B-class waiter, your work location will no longer be on the third floor. B-class waiters are required to wear three sets of radiation-proof clothing and live in a radiation-free room. This is on the 12th floor. Your communication watch has a QR code for the elevator, and only the elevator can reach the ninth floor, so you must take good care of your watch."
The manager was as talkative as ever.
Yi Li continued to listen silently.
They entered the elevator, and the manager showed his work badge, beeped at the elevator, and pressed the 9 button.
The elevator slowly rose, and the number on the elevator display stopped at 12.
The elevator door opened.
This was a scene that Yili had never expected.
It was pitch black here, and there was no light outside the door. It was like a huge mouth of the abyss, quietly waiting for her to throw herself into its arms.
The manager took out a flashlight and handed it to Yili: "Take good care of this flashlight. It will help you see the road clearly."
"Thank you, manager." After Yi Li took it, he only felt the extra damp and cold weight of the flashlight.
She watched as the manager took out another flashlight and turned it on expertly.
Yili followed the manager's actions and turned on his own flashlight.
The flashlight was dim.
It shines just enough light into the dark corridor.
Yi Li silently clenched the flashlight in his hand.
Even without a heart, she still felt like something was about to jump out of her body.
"Some guests here don't like light, so the corridors here can only be dark. Your duty is to be a professional floor attendant here. You need to serve every guest well. If a guest complains about you, you will be sent back to D-level waiter."
After the manager finished speaking, he looked at Yili and said, "Do you understand, Miss Yili?"
"Got it, Manager. Don't worry, I won't let you down."
"That's good."
The manager took Yili to the end of the corridor on the twelfth floor, took out the key and opened the door.
The light inside the door was turned on by the manager.
Yi Li looked into the room. Warm yellow light sprinkled in the cozy room. The layout was the same as 350 on the 3rd floor, but it had a lot more colors than 350. People who lived in it couldn't help but feel relaxed and at ease.
This is not a good start.
Yi Li tried hard to be alert.
"This is the key to 1250, remember to keep it safe."
The manager handed the key to Yili.
Yili took it and put it into his own space: "Okay, Manager."
"Next, I will take you to familiarize yourself with your current job. Come with me." The manager said, turned and left.
Yi Li followed the manager closely, not daring to relax for a moment.
He brought himself to the lobby next to the elevator, where only a dim desk lamp was lit.
It was a clean reception desk with a desk lamp, a desktop computer and a white landline phone on the marble table.
Next to it was a red "Front Desk Clerk's Work Manual" and a black pen.
"This is your workstation for the next few days, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Since you're the only waiter on the 12th floor, you must stay at your station. To avoid missing VIP calls, you only have three opportunities to use the restroom. During working hours, you can only use the public restroom on the 12th floor."
"You need to use the computer here and register every VIP call every day using the Excel spreadsheet on the computer. You must register every VIP's phone number and house number. If someone comes to the front desk to look for you, don't look up at that person. You must treat that person as air.
If you help that person, more VIPs will come to you and you will miss a lot of calls. Of course, you can also go and help, if you can afford the cost of doing so, you can ignore what I said. "
Yi Li was gently pushed by the manager and came to the small iron door leading to the front desk. She pushed it open silently, walked in, came to the front desk, looked at the black office chair, and did not rush to sit down.
Just as the manager was about to say something, his communication tool rang.
He looked at the watch on his wrist and his expression changed. "I need to take care of some things here. I hope that the next time we meet, you will become an A-level waiter. Do your best. Thank you."
Yi Li watched the manager who hurried away being swallowed by the darkness.
She was lucky and successfully upgraded step by step by accident.
But, this went horribly smoothly.
A disappeared heart, a mysterious man, and a promise in three months.
She felt as if her entire destiny had been determined by someone else, and everything that went well for her was part of someone else's plan.
The feeling gave her a chill.
She looked at the "Front Desk Clerk's Manual", picked it up and started flipping through it.
Under the blood-red cover, every line of text is also bright red.
Help! This party application is so hard to write. I'm betting against fate that I'll make a mistake on the next word. I really want to click on the paper or press the delete key to undo the mistake.
