Chapter 70 You Should Explain Yourself
Lin Yao tasted blood.
It was both bitter and astringent.
"...Xie Xingchen..."
He called the other person's name softly, intending to back away.
But the other person's palm tightened its grip even more at that moment.
"Don't dodge." Xie Xingchen's strength was ruthless.
Lin Yao relaxed and responded enthusiastically.
Their kiss was passionate, like a final indulgence before the end of the world.
It's as if this method is used to confirm, notify, and reassure that everyone is still alive.
Lin Yao glanced at him for a moment, then his fingers touched his forehead, finding a sticky residue.
"You are still bleeding."
Xie Xingchen hummed in agreement, then asked nonchalantly, "Were you scared?"
Recalling the scene where he couldn't wake up no matter how much chest compressions he performed, Lin Yao still felt a lingering fear: "I was afraid you would just die like that, and I would feel guilty."
"No, I've always been lucky with my life since I was little. I've survived several near-death experiences." Xie Xingchen brushed it off lightly, raising his hand to touch his swollen lower lip. "You just stole a kiss from me."
“That’s artificial respiration.” Lin Yao frowned. “Can’t you be serious for once? Are you having an episode?”
Xie Xingchen really wanted to say that whether it was helping each other in the past or now, a proper relationship, apart from lovers, would never involve such a passionate kiss.
That's incredibly stupid; they got a good deal and then helped the customer count the money.
The fire from the aircraft spread, emitting a burnt smell, and burned fiercely, seemingly merging with the rose-red sand into a raging inferno. Lin Yao stared at the scene and suddenly exclaimed, "It's over. The launcher malfunctioned when it crashed, and they can't find its location."
They crashed in the sea, in a desolate, uninhabited area where not even a bird could be seen, only the silent wind, the slow ticking of the second hand, and the rose-red sky and earth.
Lin Yao has never been one to sit idly by and wait for death. He struggled to escape from a fire when he was a child, and he tried his best to adapt after his second differentiation into an Omega. So now, there is absolutely no way he would just wait for time to pass by and for his blood to drain away.
"Let me try to send a signal." He wanted to return to the aircraft, but Xie Xingchen grabbed him.
He shook his head: "It could explode at any moment, don't go."
Lin Yao stood there, looking down at him, his tone indifferent: "Are you just going to wait here to die? To starve to death, to die of thirst, or to die from the scorching sun that may never have set?"
As I spoke, I felt my blood boiling. I was already on the verge of estrus, and I don't know if it was because of the different magnetic field here, but I felt so hot that my heart was racing and about to overload.
Or, they might die from estrus due to the lack of inhibitors.
He made up his mind and whispered, "I'll try again before it explodes."
Xie Xingchen disagreed with him, reached out and pulled him back, struggling to stand up: "Then I'll go, you stay here and don't move."
At this moment, both of them were extremely stubborn. They stared at each other, neither willing to give in, and the fire was still burning.
Clearly, it's no longer appropriate to go in and try to send signals by clicking on the control panel.
Xie Xingchen sighed, finally giving in. He grabbed Xie Xingchen's wrist and strode toward the fire, saying, "Fine, let's go together. If we're going to die, we'll die together."
The two ran back to the aircraft's location. The control panel was smashed to pieces, and the crash site shown on the map was far from the predicted location, making rescue difficult.
Lin Yao retrieved the communicator that had fallen under the cockpit.
Their luggage was also destroyed in the crash, leaving only a box of gifts that Pei Yizhong had given them before leaving. With food and drink, they could survive for a couple more days in this desolate wilderness.
"Buzz buzz buzz..." The communicator emitted a jumble of noises.
Lin Yao tried switching to several channels and called out in a low voice: "Coordinates of Rose Star unknown, calling for rescue, waiting for response."
No one responded.
Xie Xingchen bent down, carrying the box of gifts, and followed Lin Yao as they walked aimlessly on the rose-red sand.
Rose Star looked completely different from the places he had been before. It wasn't a desolate, war-torn wasteland; it was more like a primitive, undeveloped star system. Yet, Lin Yao felt a sense of familiarity with it.
In his memory, he seemed to have seen a similar patch of rose-red before.
"What's wrong?" Xie Xingchen noticed his paused expression.
"I feel like I've seen this scene somewhere before." Lin Yao closed his eyes, and images flashed through his mind of what he had seen in IAAL: a cramped laboratory, countless needles, and a window no bigger than a palm.
That window wasn't easily opened, but one time Lin Yao was injected with some kind of drug that greatly increased his strength, allowing him to remove the cover from the window.
What I saw at the time was a large expanse of magenta.
For the first time, I felt that the outside world was so beautiful.
“Many of my memories have been erased, leaving only fragments. When I escaped the fire in the laboratory, I was in the capital, so I naturally assumed I was in the capital.” Lin Yao turned to look at him. “However, there was a time when I was unconscious for a long time, as if I had been moved.”
Xie Xingchen immediately understood what he meant: "You mean, you've been here before, and you actually spent most of your time on Rose Star, but something went wrong when you were transferred there, and you happened to escape."
Lin Yao nodded.
By sheer coincidence, we actually found the location of the laboratory. What a coincidence!
But after walking for a long time, apart from the boundless sea and the rose-red sky, there were no buildings or people, as if I had stumbled into a pink fantasy world unknown to anyone.
Lin Yao stopped and reached out to tug at his collar: "Xie Xingchen, did you take suppressants on your way here?"
"I had it last night." Xie Xingchen raised his hand to wipe the blood from his forehead.
Turning around, he saw Lin Yao staring intently at his wound, his tongue lightly licking his lower lip.
He stared at the other person and analyzed, "The magnetic field here is very strong, which will affect hormones. If the IAAL laboratory chose this place, it must be for this reason. The magnetic field helps the experiment to proceed better."
Lin Yao couldn't hear a single word, but slowly walked towards him and stopped.
His expression showed struggle.
Being controlled by hormones feels really awful.
Xie Xingchen reached out and pinched the back of his neck: "What do you want to do? My inhibitor only works for one day. If there's no rescue by tomorrow, I don't know what will happen."
Lin Yao, still rational, said: "So we need to find a way to send a signal."
We must prevent them from colliding in situations where neither of them is acting irrationally; that would be far too terrible.
"What's wrong with you?" Xie Xingchen looked into his eyes, which were filled with a moist mist, and pressed his fingers harder on the back of his neck. "Are you in heat?"
His choice of words has always been straightforward.
Lin Yao shook his head in denial, but his eyes were fixed on his blood-stained fingers.
"No, let's keep going."
He desperately needed to find a place to shower, and if he couldn't, he probably would really turn around and jump into the sea to clear his head.
I don't like the feeling of being controlled; I hate it.
Xie Xingchen suddenly brought the person in front of him and coaxed, "What do you want?"
Lin Yao shook his head, his expression stubbornly defiant: "No."
As they spoke, Xie Xingchen seemed to move even closer.
"Take your pheromones back. I told you, we don't need them now."
Lin Yao recalled his help last time and didn't want to face it.
He disliked his loss of control and didn't want it to happen again.
Especially since they are still in this desolate wilderness awaiting rescue.
Xie Xingchen didn't speak, his head was down, and his breath hit Xie Xingchen's face with varying depths.
Lin Yao frowned, pushed away the hand that was gripping the back of his neck, avoided the wound, and pressed the man directly to the ground. His tone was extremely irritated due to the hormonal imbalance.
"Don't try to seduce me with your pheromones. Do you think I won't hit you if you get hurt?"
Xie Xingchen was trapped in the soft, rose-red sand, almost drowning in the overwhelming fir trees, unable to control his emotions.
He looked up at the person straddling him and said helplessly.
“Baby, it was your pheromones that seduced me first, you should be reasonable.”
