Chapter 49 hides a secret
Lin Yao had no idea what was wrong with him this time.
What does "No reason, because I want to" mean?
How about pulling it a little harder?
Do you think we should just cater to you and have the whole world revolve around you?
Xie Xingchen looked in his direction, then suddenly changed his mind: "Then forget it."
Lin Yao was taken aback.
No, what's with that hesitant look on your face? If you're having an episode, just say it.
Being too proud to admit defeat will only lead to suffering.
He thought for a moment, then chose a very tactful way to ask: "Are you feeling unwell?"
Xie Xingchen denied it, saying, "No, it's quite comfortable."
"I'll be in your group," Lin Yao said coldly, thinking that if he had a seizure on the way, he would be dragging everyone down.
Xie Xingchen's expression brightened: "Then I'll do as you say."
These few casual words made He Li subtly sense that there was a barrier separating everyone else from them, speaking in a code that only they understood.
He Li's composure crumbled, his expression contorted in a grimace: "Fine, fine, I see now. You two can be a group, if you don't want me, fine. Anyway, I'm being exiled, this is my punishment, I know."
Lin Yao: "...No."
He couldn't very well tell everyone that Xie Xingchen was ill and that his condition could flare up at any moment.
He Li watched as he opened his mouth but couldn't say anything coherent, so she raised her hand to stop him: "Alright, I understand, I'm leaving. Cheng Boyan, let's go."
"No, buddy, I'm a newbie too." Cheng Boyan panicked. "I just came out to learn from experience, I don't want to die young."
"It's fine, the worst that can happen is I die in a plane crash. Anyway, my heart is colder than the ice in the far north." He Li snorted, "Let's go."
Cheng Boyan sent a message to his father with an extremely heavy heart.
Your son only understands your good intentions now that he's grown up.
I'm sorry, Dad. I was being selfish. If I have the chance, I'll be there to take care of you again in the next life.
Director Cheng, who had just come out of the operating room: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Completely baffled, he made a phone call to Hall to inquire about the reason. After understanding the whole story, he activated the human pulse attack again and demanded that the dean take the two new recruits flying.
Seeing that he had a good relationship with Xie Hengzhi, Hall didn't dare to say anything and could only agree.
After hanging up the phone, with a long face, he said, "You two come with me, board the plane, and take off."
Cheng Boyan beamed and sent another message to Director Cheng.
[Dad, I'll come back to take care of you again. I'm alive again!!!]
He Li, with his arm around Cheng Boyan's shoulder, strode past Lin Yao with a triumphant air, and as he passed Xie Xingchen again, he said, "Remember to give me the things."
Xie Xingchen smiled slightly: "No problem."
When Lin Yao followed him onto the aircraft, he still didn't understand how things had turned out this way, and he was extremely annoyed.
Did I make He Li angry?
Xie Xingchen was helping him put soft cushions and pillows on the cockpit, in a very good mood: "It seems so, but he'd better get used to it sooner rather than later."
"What are you used to?"
"I'll get used to having you as my teammate from now on." Xie Xingchen paused, "and it can only be me."
Lin Yao was stunned.
Teammates?
He fought alone from childhood to adulthood. Even after he met Xie Xingchen, he was placed on the opposite side of the situation at that time, with no possibility of forming a united front.
And now, he says, they will be teammates from now on.
Lin Yao stared at him for several seconds, then laughed and said, "Are you afraid of dying, so you want to find someone who's good at fighting to follow you?"
This time, Xie Xingchen didn't jokingly say "yes," but instead said with a very serious expression: "Lin Yao, we have a relationship of mutual protection. Think about it carefully."
He lowered his eyes, calmly opened the dashboard in front of him, and skillfully pushed the control lever: "If you have nothing to do, you can try to coax He Li with the communicator."
Lin Yao pressed the button on top, which made a hissing sound, and then turned it off.
With a blank expression: "I don't know what to say."
“Say it your original idea.” Xie Xingchen raised the aircraft and entered the clouds at a very smooth and comfortable angle. “Say that you were worried about me and that you chose to be in my group because you were afraid I would be uncomfortable. It’s not that you rejected him.”
Lin Yao: ""
Has this guy learned mind-reading techniques in the last two weeks? How terrifying.
He turned his face away, his ears turning slightly red: "I'm not worried about you."
Xie Xingchen hummed in agreement, having already anticipated his answer: "You're afraid I'll have an attack and drag everyone down, so you're putting others first and being forced to stay with me."
Lin Yao: ""
He couldn't stand it anymore. He wanted to go downstairs. He couldn't stay with this person for even a minute longer. It was terrifying.
Looking to the side, I realized I had risen into the troposphere; jumping down would mean certain death.
Lin Yao closed his eyes and tilted his head: "I'm sleepy, I'm going to sleep. It'll be my turn in a bit."
For some reason, even though he was sitting in a not-so-spacious chair with his legs bent and his posture crooked, he slept very comfortably, feeling the soft pillow behind his neck.
It felt like I was floating lightly into the clouds outside the window.
I don't know how long I slept, but I was woken up by the noise from the communicator.
"Wow, this is so beautiful! I'm taking tons of pictures. Cheng Boyan, come here and strike a pose. This man who's destined to be a photographer will take an absolutely stunning picture of you." It was definitely He Li.
Duan Zheng sneered coldly, "You bumpkin! Never been on a space voyage, have you?"
"Um... could you take a picture for me through the cabin?" Li Mao became unusually polite after being beaten up. "I want to post it on social media when I get back."
He Li's temper flared up quickly but subsided just as fast. He yelled, "Then tell that idiot Duan Zheng to get out of the way because he's blocking your shot."
Then came an eerie silence.
Lin Yao smiled with his eyes closed and whispered, "They're really noisy."
When she opened her eyes again, she found that Xie Xingchen had already activated autopilot and was standing on the side of the aircraft's cabin, looking into the distance through the glass, seemingly lost in thought.
Lin Yao opened his mouth, but ultimately didn't say anything, so as not to disturb him.
She stared at his back for a while before he turned around and asked, "Awake?"
Lin Yao nodded, glanced at the flight time on the dashboard, and saw that ten hours had passed: "Sorry, I slept for a while. We agreed to take turns flying."
"I still prefer the way you used to tease me. Being too polite makes me uncomfortable."
"..............I've discovered that you're a bit of a weirdo."
Xie Xingchen beckoned to him and said softly, "Come here, look out the window, it's beautiful."
Lin Yao has never traveled far. From the time he can remember, he was locked in a laboratory, and later in a dark and cheap basement. Looking back on his life, he has almost always been confined to a cramped space, unable to breathe.
Even though he was still in the cramped cabin, looking at the boundless starry sky in front of him, he felt an unprecedented sense of openness.
"It's really beautiful."
“Look over there, there’s a dim star next to the sun.” Xie Xingchen pointed it out to him. “It’s not very bright, you’ll have to concentrate for a long time to notice it.”
Lin Yao looked over and saw only darkness. He said calmly, "You actually pay attention to such an inconspicuous asteroid."
Xie Xingchen really didn't mean to flaunt his wealth, and said very tactfully, "Because I bought that star."
Lin Yao: ""
I shouldn't have asked that question.
I'll fight you rich people to the death.
Xie Xingchen turned his head back into place and whispered, "Look carefully."
Lin Yao was pinned down and unable to move, so he could only stare intently for a long time. Just as he was about to lose patience, he finally saw that spot flash very slightly.
It was a tiny light, but because I was watching it, for a second it seemed to emit a huge light that overshadowed the sun.
"I saw it! I saw it! It's flashing! Look, it's flashing again!" Lin Yao instinctively grabbed his arm, as happy as a child who had just tasted candy for the first time.
Xie Xingchen hummed in agreement and looked down at him.
"There's a secret hidden on that star."
